  • Finidi George is one of the finest right sided footballer of his generation, between 1994 to 1997 he was regarded as the best crosser of the ball. He went through his entire career without a red card.
Finidi started his career like every other African kid on the sands of Churchill field around the FHA Quarters near Bundu waterside, from there he played for Agip football club(a youth team) where he was selected for the Rivers state team that won the football event of the Rivers state sports festival and from there to Sharks FC, Calaber Rovers and back to Sharks and off to Ajax.
At Ajax he won the uefa champions league, before moving on to play in Spain and England. With the Super Eagkes of Nigeria, he won the African cup of nations at the 1994 nations cup in Tunisia and also played a key role in Nigeria's first ever world cup qualification in 1993 before providing the assist for Rashidi Yekini to score Nigeria's historic first world cup goal in USA.
In this interview, he take us through the early days of his career, like never told before. His work ethics, discipline and the evolution of his game from a midfielder to a wide man. He mentioned his family for the first time in this exclusive interview on the #SportsBuffet and also gave an insight into the personality and quality of his coach at Ajax, Luis Van Gaal.
He gave his thought on the players he would start in attack for the Super Eagles from the pool of Paul Onuachu, Simy Nwankwo, Terem Moffi, Kelechi Iheanacho and Napoli's Victor Osimhen.

Finidi George is yearning for as an attacking midfielder. Ebere Eze is the young man Super Eagles need to play that attacking midfielder role.

Nice Job my brother. I love Finidi wella. One European pundit once (I can't remember his name now) once said that Finidi George was so good that he could cross a coin. And to think that he played when the likes of Figo and Beckham were in there prime and yet was given so much accolades speaks volume of how good he was. Enough respect to this son of Nigeria.
