I've been driving for 45 years. A few years back they started telling me my blood pressure was high when I got my DOT physical and just barely would pass for the 2 years. At my appointments with my dr. my pressure was always good so I asked the nurse at my dr office the last visit how that could be and she said they're probably useing the wrong size cuff, she said anyone 250# or more should have a larger cuff. Last week I had my DOT physical again and the first time he took it it was too high so I asked if he had another cuff. he didn't want to get it but I insisted and I easily passed. make them do it right, your lively hooh is on the line.
Had a heart attack 7 years ago and have 3 stents in. Taking assorted meds for BP and to regulate my cholesterol and heart rate. Automatic one year only and mandatory nuclear stress test every other year. 62 years old. I'll be 63 in May. Been driving for 38 years. You'll get it done.

Another tip to get Blood Pressure down: Exercise before you get tested. Run. Lift weights. Go out for a brisk walk. It can drop your blood pressure 10 - 20 points. Also, being in a fasted state (i.e., no eating like skipping breakfast and lunch) can keep your BP down as well.
I’ve always gotten my DOT Med in the state that I live but according to FMCSA you can get it in any state cause it’s a federal exam. Just found that out a couple of years ago and honestly kinda shocked me that they made something a little more convenient lol

If they will allow you to lay on your left side for about 10 minutes before bp is taken, usually helps. I was in the same spot as you on my last DOT physical. 142/86. They had me lay on my left side and it was down to about 120/80
I just renewed my medical card for another 2 years two weeks ago. This is my 17th year so I have done this a lot of times. I just pay an extra $5 and I take my physical so they can send it to my DMV. I got a confirmation # showing it went through. Glad you were able to get another 2 years Justin

Two things, you should not eat anything prior to taking blood pressure and Ibuprofen raises blood pressure, aspirin thins your blood...however, aspirin as caffeine so you should not take that either...just water

Taking garlic by mouth seems to reduce systolic blood pressure (the top number) by about 7-9 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure (the bottom number) by about 4-6 mmHg in people with high blood pressure

Organic beet juice lowers BP really well too. A Nurse Practitioner told me to drink 8oz twice a day and since doing that I no longer have to take BP meds. If in a pinch, slam 16 oz a couple hours before BP test, may help ya.

It's easy for one's BP to be elevated at a physical (white coat syndrome). One thing that helps and really does work is to take several long & deep breaths before BP is taken. Just don't pass out from too much oxygen. lol

I am over weight doing 5 day fast and exercising each of those 5 days = pass.
Not sure where your info came from but ibuprofen (Motrin) can actually raise BP, also no caffeine the day of your exam. Also carrots would have to be taken over time, you would be better off having an orange prior to the exam.

I always go to a chiropractor for mine. They are usually more lenient.
If you fail blood pressure you only get three month card. They give you two chances. Ask me how I know. BP can not be higher than 140-90

it's between 140-159/ 90-99 you can get 1 year certification

Hey Justin!! I trucked 43 yrs.i was 55 yrs.old had triple bypass could only get DOT CARD for 1 yr. Had toget my stress tests etc.I retired in 2018 at the age of 68!! Im 73now i miss it still but im still in the best shape of my life LOL!! Be safe!! Saarted truckin in 1975--2018!!

Never really liked the DMV in any state I’ve lived in. I have a love-hate relationship with SCDMV. The ones closest to me usually no wait at all. Love that.
I got my first drivers license in New York back in 1966. At that time a trip to the DMV was an 8 hour "experience". South Carolina DMV is a dream since they privatized it.

Although not a truck driver, I actually don't mind going to the doctors. Absolutely totally relaxed and chilled. But the dentist? Its a whole new ball game. Blood pressure I'm sure is through the roof, heart pounding, headache coming on🤣🤣

Its called white coat syndrome , I have its also this is why I use my medical examiner in my local hospital here in Vermont . The ME is very thorough when doing dot physical and they recognise white coat syndrome .
Ibuprofen can actually raise blood pressure.
That is called White Coat Fever when your BP spikes while getting a physical. Another trick is do not talk while they are taking your BP or cross your legs

I haven't driven in 17 years..but I remember seeing some of those BKs (buffet killer) no disrespect to anyone it can be hard staying in shape in truck...but I always thought how in the world does that guy pass a DOT physical...I always pictured him sliding the doctor an envelope 😂

Just in the future: you don’t have to go physically to the DMV with your new med card. You can email CDLHelpdesk@scdmv.net a picture of it with you DL#. Saves the headache of the DMV 🤣

If you are a company driver, most companies have contracts with health services companies and will set up your appointment for you. If you are diabetic you can only get a one year card. If you have to inject insulin you used to be disqualified from driving unless you got special medical endorsement type deal. That may have changed in the last few years.
Wow in Ireland and the uk up until your 50 you get it for ten years then after that you get it for every 5 years until 65 after that you get every 2 years until you retire

Dang 110 dollars for a DOT physical that's expensive my DR. Charges 75.00 here in Virginia and there's no grace period either when your Dot physical expires so does your CDLs lol. Also we have 10 days to turn our tags in after you cancel insurance or lose your DL. Crazy. Have a good day man

We have all the driver's go to the Medical Clinic and get Physical Exam's Unannounced. Jesse hates it when they make him wear the gown that show's your butt. He will have me tie the sides pretty dam good if they have a gown his size. Dam that's allot of milk. Hell look at the one in our garage. Always Milk and Chocolate Milk (Jesse has to have it and so do i and Grandma) and orange juice Sunny d and apple juice and a 36 pack of mountain dew and dr pepper. We get the case's at Sam's Club. And the freezer is always stacked up on ice cream and of course dear meat and steaks and chicken patties. The one in the kitchen is always stocked up on certain things u would have in the fridge. We don't keep beer in the house. Your shower is like ours. We have area where we can sit and just relax. We have endless hot water :) some thing where it never runs out of hot water work's excellent. It's cold here today and i was like Bleep wanted to go for a ride. Your steering wheel just reminded me that we gotta buy the driver a new steering wheel cover who's Hotshot truck we used. Cause Jesse does not like steering wheel cover's. I just added that to the list to get at Sam's Club tonight. They told Jesse that he must get his weight below 165. And he will be like yeah look's who's talking your fatter and overweight. That Dr is no longer a license Dr anymore. Jesse weight's about 275 but he is solid muscle. Nana will tell him to put a shirt on cause she can't stand looking at his 6 pack (Stomach) we exercise all the time. Jesse got me to lose allot of weight and i am glad. When we got back from being gone for 2 week's we was walking up and down the hill and went to the gym earlier today.. Ha ha we love straight pipes also. Mr's Daisy said the Chevy Truck we purchased is really really louder then the Yukon. We are going to keep our Minivan. Cause in about 2 months we are going to take a road trip. We are going to take the Scenic Route 66 cause there is rumor's that they are going to be demolishing part's of Route 66 for other highway's. We went a few year's ago and Jesse and Grandma wants to go even Mr's Daisy who's coming with us.. The kid's youngest ones are at the park with there dirt bikes there's a trail they can all ride. Jesse is about 5 house's up helping somebody adjust the timing on there car since Jesse has a timing gun. When he get's back me and him are going to eat Chinese food then head to Sam's Club. The kid's will be a few house's up at there friend's. And when they hear the Yukon they will come and help us unload the stuff.

@@JustTruckin Nana was with us one time. And she looks at Jesse and said smile and he goes u better not post my butt on the Internet and the Dr was trying not to laugh. I was like that's really really weird seeing Jesse butt naked walking around the hospital grabbing the back of the gown to hide his butt. I think that is when he was getting surgery done on his left leg. Which is way better than before after the accident he had like 17 years ago with the kid's. Jesse suffered the worse cause the drunk driver plowed into the driver's side door. The fire department had to cut the roof off in order to get Jesse out. He was in a coma for a few days. The kid's stayed with him. Austin and Natalie (Youngest 2 kid's) wasn't with them.
Why are you sharing and violating confidential information about senior citizens visiting a medical center. You are always saying TandP! Where is that in this video concerning those people? You should not be videotaping people without their permission especially in a medical center. Are you aware of the HIPPA laws? If not, please look it up. Don’t be surprised if you are not hit with a lawsuit from those individuals.
