It is an excellent option for the Z system. I already have the great 35 1.8 S and the 40 F2, so I rule it out, but if I needed a 35, I would take a hard look at this lens.

Great review. But I wish reviewers would stop equalling metal housings with quality. It's no coincidence cheap (Chinese) lenses have metal housings. It's cheaper and in most cases inferior to high performance plastics used in much more expensive lenses. It dings and scratches easier and often has a much more problematic behaviour in changing temperatures. Heavy isn't better, metal isn't better per se. The "hand feel" category is highly subjective and should be treated as such. Whether somehting FEELS well-built is completely irrelevant. Not referring to this video in particular, just in general.

Maybe? But I’ll take a metal lens any time over plastic if given a choice between two good lenses.

I hate the rendering and look of sharpening of the 40mm f2 on my ZF so I’m hoping this one gives me better results I like when it arrives. Maybe I got a bad copy???
