  • Here I introduce and explain two pieces of melody that a lot of people may remember incorrectly. I do not own the right of any of the video and music segments used.

Never noticed We've Had Enough had this similarity to "wrong" Billie Jean, wow :) and yeah, layers make so many Jackson songs difficult to choose for karaoke, as if the weren't difficult enough :)

This is something I noticed when I first started listening to the multitracks and I always thought it was really cool how the background vocals blend so seemlessly into the main vocal. Although I can't say I noticed We've Had Enough being so similar, I can't unhear it now. I don't think it's wrong for you to sing it that way because it more accurately imitates the melody when including the background vocals but it's certainly interesting to think about.
The real question is if Eat It follows the same rule.

Am I the only one who sings the "defeated" part in one note after hearing mj's lead vocal and never the normal way again?

Liberian Girl is another really good example of this technique where he lets the background vocals 'lead' for a bit as the end nears

Many bassists play with wrong notes.

i guess I know what you mean, basically it should be “la la la la si si, la si do do” but many people play it like “la la sol la si si, la si do do”. Idk if this makes sense but it’s the best I can describe it

I though MJ sung the background vocals on Beat It, so he would’ve been the one singing that high note in the studio version.
