A detailed and handy guide. Was able to get all 3 covers off and count figure out how to get better access to the bumper. Your video helped with that. The issue I had was the RB rubbing against the RT. When the trigger was even slightly pressed, the RB would pop put and work fine. Ended up sticking a very tiny piece of tape between the two to reduce friction, and it worked.

Thanks! My left bumper stopped working. I got down to the last step, it was surprisingly easy with your instructions. Turns out the plastic tip that connects the bumper to the white circular little post was loose, it snapped off when touched. Even tips about how to learn from tutorials, like watching the full segment before trying to do it along with you. Edit: Wow, thank's. Thanks for this. My LB stopped working and I had no idea why. Bought a T8 security screwdriver & disassembled the controller thanks to your instructions. Finally saw what was wrong after 15mins. The plastic protrusion on the casing broke off, so that's why the LB button wouldn't click.
Did you figure out how to fix it? I'm waiting for my torx screwdrivers to arrive so haven't actually disassembled the controller yet but I bet my life this is gonna be exactly the issue
@@ayzee5169Yeah, I just replaced the bumpers. It's one single piece of the case. Just have to make sure you order the correct one. You can tell by how it's split from the plastic piece in the middle (over the sync button). One has a diagonal separation, the other is straight. It's important because the protrustion that goes inside to click the bumpers is different (one style is much thinner than the other).
Holy shit and here I was, sad that my limited edition CP2077 controller was going to have to be retired and I was saved by a simple piece of cardboard. You've just saved me £100 and kept my baby running.

Awh man thanks!! Fixed my left trigger because of you. I was so confused because I cleaned it all up. Turns out that I had put the magnet in the wrong way and didn’t know that the side with the dimple should face down. Was about to waste $60 on a new controller, you’re a lifesaver!

Thanks a lot! Using this tutorial i found out whats wrong with my RB, it was broken little plastic stick inside which is pressing the switch, i didn't know how to look inside, now i just bought the part and gonna replace the old, really aprecciate it
This worked for me thank you - I have a "Power-A" branded one and all the screws are in different places but what was interesting was it only took a *tiny* amount of gunk in the buttons to make them stick. Probably the previous owner had spilled some soda over the controller and it was enough to put some detergent on a damp q-tip and that was enough to take it from "for parts" to "working controller". I hope you will be this lucky too!
Please don't forcefully remove the grips. If you pry too hard like he has in the video, the small sharp pieces that click into the slots that keeps the grips on the controller will snap. It's best to use a flat object to run along the seams of the grips until slowly but surely it releases its hold. (Very obviously, I have learned that the small sharp pieces will snap under immense pressure the hard way, I ruined many a great grip that way)
I'm always open to new ways of doing things, but I've never been able to loosen the sides enough to make it come off. Like I mentioned in the video, I've damaged my prying tools trying to do that. My grips are always on there very tight, and brute force is need to separate the pieces. It could be that other models have looser grips.
@@HowToX I've noticed that branded controllers (Like the Gears of War, Halo, and other branded controllers) have easier to pry grips with no strong stickage, and the newer controller grips are just glued on with God's most powerful adhesive

I just wanted to say that you rock, dude! Your video helped me a lot! I had dust built up and had to clean around the buttons like your vid suggested. Happy New Year and keep on rockin' dude!
Hey I just opened up my controller, and the button my right trigger is meant to press only randomly works, and only when I manually press it with a tool I have… any idea on how to make it reliably work?(also you never explained how to remove the trigger button)
Worked great, ripped off the grip, shoved a Q-Tip with 91% alcohol (ISP) and cleaned the circuit board and the trigger tip, and the sticky trigger stopped entirely.
Drop of super glue on LB, but it trickled a bit around the bumper parts, and now when i attach the bumper and the short part of the bumper together, the LB button doesn’t press well because now the LB part of the bumper has some areas slightly bigger due to the super glue, when i press it doesn’t really move or retrace or make that clicky sound, its like its stuck. So then i had to use a heated pen thing to remove the super glue, but that made the pen melt some parts of the bumper, not gust the super glue and now the flat parts of the bumper thing are uneven so i just kinda stripped the uneven sides to make them smoother. It works but the front part of the controller where the middle and the left of the LB button has a gap, its bigger.

Thank you man I was losing all hope but I took a Pokémon card, scraped around Lb then pressed the button for like a minute and it started registering
I just wanted to say that you rock, dude! Your video helped me a lot! I had dust built up and had to clean around the buttons like your vid suggested. Happy New Year and keep on rockin' dude!

Can you make a tutorial on how to fix a loose RT on the Xbox one😅
Thanks alot man the third step made my rb work again, respect!
I couldn’t fix my controller. But a good video is a good video. Thank you for your service, Mr. HowtoX
1st method has done the trick. thanks a lot!
I tried the 2 methods and it worked thanks my bro
method one worked, thanks for saving me the time, the service tech in me just wanted to start tearing the controller apart
Is it okay to use the cardboard without alchohol?
Man, the level of detail here is awesome, thanks.
Thank You, this help out with the RB on my xbox elite controller and it works juts like normal now. Appreciate it ❤
