Absolutely bogus and ridiculous. They don't work for me.
A detailed and handy guide. Was able to get all 3 covers off and count figure out how to get better access to the bumper. Your video helped with that. The issue I had was the RB rubbing against the RT. When the trigger was even slightly pressed, the RB would pop put and work fine. Ended up sticking a very tiny piece of tape between the two to reduce friction, and it worked.
fixed my RT! i had to take it apart but only the first pannel you removed. some sticky black stuff was all over wherw the trigger makes contact when pressed. cleaned it up with alcohol! it works!! this was a brand new out of the box controller so THANK YOU SO MUCH! i will recommend this vid to others, too! thank youuu!!!!
7:03 Easily this segment was such a big help! My right trigger had it to where it pressed but it felt different/broken. Found out that the foam pad was misaligned, not even missing, and was able to fix it! Thanks again man!
same here just cleaned and re put it
My series s controller kept pressing both the triggers on its own. So I did the first method, updated my controller, and the issue stopped! I thank you from the bottom of my heart, because I have been dealing with this issue for about a year and a half. Really man, I appreciate the help!
Cool. Glad you can still use the controller.
my left trigger isn’t stuck, but no matter what i do it is always pressed down and activating without me even touching it
Ok, do the things in the video if you haven't already.
Same here buddy waste money on a new controller just for it to glitch on me
@@justicecordeiro7565 take it apart look for broken/stuck pieces

Hi my friend do my name is Yamil, I got a drifting problem on my controller and I want to know if you can fix it for me.
Well for me I found out the part of the bumper there a kinda plastic piece that pokes the number activated and that broke off
Thank you! I clicked on three guides before I found yours, by far the most helpful and professional
Bro this video was a god send. Both of my triggers were stuck almost like they had been jammed from being dropped. I don't know how but the cardboard trick fixed it immediately! Thank you for making this video!
Don't normally like videos but, because of how descriptive and helpful you were within the tutorial it was well deserved. Even tips about how to learn from tutorials, like watching the full segment before trying to do it along with you.
Edit: Wow, thank's. Just saved me £50 buying a new one, my LB button wasn't working, turned out the little plastic sharp bit that presses the button snapped off, I found it and superglued it back on and it works a charm. Thanks so much mate!
Same here!! Had to look at a couple controllers over the last few months and just to be safe, I always come back to watch this video. It's just too easy to be safe - so why not do it :D
Cheers~
Thank you. Trigger has been sticking forever. I found that a thin piece of plastic like a thin zip tie works well in place of cardboard.
It worked! I tried a lot of tutorials, but this one has to be the best one to finally break my controller
Lol
Glad it worked!
@@HowToXthink you might need to re read that
Same 2 broken controllers now!🙂
😂
Thanks for those fixes. The first simple Fix worked already for me since "LB BUTTON" was always Pressed at my controller.
This is one of the best demonstration videos ive ever seen Infact maybe the best. Hope ur keeping it up dude
I've been watching your gaming channel for some time. I needed to look up a vid for LB/RB button replacements and this video came up and I recognized your voice lol.
Awh man thanks!! Fixed my left trigger because of you. I was so confused because I cleaned it all up. Turns out that I had put the magnet in the wrong way and didn’t know that the side with the dimple should face down. Was about to waste $60 on a new controller, you’re a lifesaver!
Holy crap! The first one seriously worked in thirty seconds total and it’s been sticking since ‘Nam!!! Thank you!!!!
I used a cork board push pin to poke into the trigger pin, to release the trigger and spring assembly. Not as tricky as it looks really.
Great video and helped out a lot, thanks
I thought my controller was gonna have a some internal problem that would be a hassle to fix. But method 1 did the trick in a couple seconds. Thank you!
Thanks a lot! Using this tutorial i found out whats wrong with my RB, it was broken little plastic stick inside which is pressing the switch, i didn't know how to look inside, now i just bought the part and gonna replace the old, really aprecciate it
What method have you try ?
These have a major design flaw by MS. They're way too weak for the heavy use they get like the constant parrying in an RPG game.
Thanks! My left bumper stopped working. I got down to the last step, it was surprisingly easy with your instructions. Turns out the plastic tip that connects the bumper to the white circular little post was loose, it snapped off when touched. Ordered a new part for $10 for 1 day shipping with Amazon and fixed it in 5 minutes. Much appreciated!
I had the same situation but when I replaced the piece the controller didn't turn on anymore. I'm not sure why but it sucks tbh
Just wanted to show appreciation, I tried the straw method it worked first time thanks mate
Thanks for the video, I got it taken apart and put back together but my issue was not fixed (the bumpers are broken) so I promptly put the controller through the wall, but this video was a great help so thank you for that.
The carton method worked like magic. So simple yet effective! Thx!!
Thanks dude , the first method worked for me . Now my controller works like new
Wow, thank you so much! The first method already fixed my stuck bumper - this is so great! I was ready to buy a new controller!
My left bumper wasn't working tried to clean it first but eventually had to take apart the controller and put in a piece of electrical tape. Amazing recovery of the button and truly works thanks.
So I was able to pull off the panel with my hand. And there was sticky gunk in there. Took a little alcohol swab with a toothpick and my controller is as good as new! Thank you so much.
Definitely the best how to guide for the trigger and stick drift thx.
I was honestly just gonna watch this to know how to take out the triggers but now I'm gonna try this out
This video managed to help me fix everything wrong with my controller both of my sticks were drifting and my RB was clicking itself I don’t have drift and my bumper is no longer clicking itself I genuinely have no clue what I did most helpful on the Internet take my sub
1st method worked for my bumper and the 2nd method worked for my A button. Greatly appreciated!
Thanks! I couldn't open the controller since i didn't have the screwdriver set for step 5, so i just pulled some tape and put it under the trigger and voila it's fixed.
Holy shit and here I was, sad that my limited edition CP2077 controller was going to have to be retired and I was saved by a simple piece of cardboard. You've just saved me £100 and kept my baby running.
Thanks for this. My LB stopped working and I had no idea why. Bought a T8 security screwdriver & disassembled the controller thanks to your instructions. Finally saw what was wrong after 15mins. The plastic protrusion on the casing broke off, so that's why the LB button wouldn't click.
Did you figure out how to fix it? I'm waiting for my torx screwdrivers to arrive so haven't actually disassembled the controller yet but I bet my life this is gonna be exactly the issue
@@ayzee5169Yeah, I just replaced the bumpers. It's one single piece of the case. Just have to make sure you order the correct one. You can tell by how it's split from the plastic piece in the middle (over the sync button). One has a diagonal separation, the other is straight. It's important because the protrustion that goes inside to click the bumpers is different (one style is much thinner than the other).
Super helpful. Thank you! I had to remove that sticky pad at the end of the right trigger's travel. It was all gummy and not letting the trigger release which is really bad for throttle control in racing games.
I just wanted to say that you rock, dude! Your video helped me a lot! I had dust built up and had to clean around the buttons like your vid suggested. Happy New Year and keep on rockin' dude!
Thank you so much! Usually videos like this suck bung hole cuz they rarely fix my specific issues, but this video helped me fix my RB button with the cardboard method and I guess there was just debris in my controller
My right trigger was sticking really bad and the card board and compressed air method worked. Thanks you just saved me 60 bucks!
thank you! the first method was an easy solution. the LB button was being too sensitive, but I guess some dirt was just keeping it too held down.
I found my solution at step 7. A piece of the long frame was broken, so I glued it back together. Now, I only need to fix the drifting. Wish me luck!
If you have a extra controller then you can take it apart and salvage the joy sticks and stop stick drift but of you don't try to take it apart and take teh front shell of and then use a straw and blow into it then pop them off and see of any dust or gunk is on there causing drift hope this helps
You actually helped me fix my right bumber, appreciate it gang🙏🏽
Literally the first method fixed the problem. Thanks
Thank you!!! I opened up my controller to find the tooth extending down from the right bumper, that pushes on the internal white button, the tooth had snapped off. So I ordered a new bumper set for $10 and replaced it and… voila! Saved myself $50! Many thanks!
I finally managed to remove the piece that was jammed in my LT button. Thank you.
Updated my controller and it started working. Thank you!
Very helpfull! It was easy to see the improvement while using the online gamepad tester.
BRO I WAS SO WORRIED THINKING I WOULD HAVE TO GET A NEW CONTROLLER BUT U JUST SAVED ME HECKA! I ONLY NEED THE FIRST STEP TOOO
Cant lie bro your first suggestion with the cardboard actually just caused my bumper to stop working entirely rather then it only working sometimes like it did before
Thabks for this, my lb button was not working and when i took that piece off, i instantly saw its piece that pushes the button in was broken, ive ordered a new one know so hopefully its all i need, but thanks for teaching me how to take apart my controller👍
Even tho I havent tried yet Im very grateful you have shown so many alternatives
This video was so helpful for my problem. Thank you for sharing your experience 💯.
My issue was solved by the straw/compressed air.
My rb button was acting weirdly. It would click or feel normal when i press it but sometimes the button would be held down even though i released the rb button.
Thank you! I just fixed my controller. I needed this guide for dismantling the joystick. Thanks!
Thanks man! I figured out that one of the tabs for RB is getting ready to break off
My lb clicks but don't work I'm not sure if a button inside slipped from the lb or if it blew out. All other buttons work perfect.
That's my problem (I think, not quite sure what u mean). But when I press it, it doesn't feel like the other bumber. It's like loose ig. I have to like hit it on my desk once or twice to get it too work. Then it'll stop working again.
@@Khoyzzzsame
just repeared a remot thanks to your video, i was gonna threw it away, big big thank you, you made my day. Now lets play again ;)
thanks so much bro! i got a brand new controller and after just a few uses the left bumper stopped working, i tried the cardboard method and straw method and its working again
My bumber panel was broken!! :D Instead of buying a new controller I can just buy a replacement! Awesome, thanks for the video and links!
Thank you so much the first one helped a ton❤
saved, homeboy you saved me a lot of time with the cardboard trick
Thanks for showing us this, my right trigger was sticking every time it was pressed, the problem appeared to be a loose cushion for the trigger and with this being loose it’s left a residue of adhesive hence the sticking.. I’ve cleaned this off and applied a new cushion (tiny piece of sponge 🧽) with😅.. work perfectly 🎉… thanks for this video much appreciated 😁👍
Thanks! That's what wrong with mine. I'll have to get some new sponges.
@@kylemorgan7961 to this day I’m still having issues with this design it’s shocking, the trigger works fine still so I’d recommend a little piece of sponge 🧽 tiny tiny 🤣
I was able to fix my issue with the first few tips, thanks! I used a cereal box to make a pick, and compressed air to help clean things out, then a firmware update for good measure. You did a great job walking through the process and explaining the risks and reasons for taking each step.
how i’m using a cereal box too
ty so much bro, just fixed the left bumper, just had to take all covers and clean... u the best!
Drop of super glue on LB, but it trickled a bit around the bumper parts, and now when i attach the bumper and the short part of the bumper together, the LB button doesn’t press well because now the LB part of the bumper has some areas slightly bigger due to the super glue, when i press it doesn’t really move or retrace or make that clicky sound, its like its stuck.
So then i had to use a heated pen thing to remove the super glue, but that made the pen melt some parts of the bumper, not gust the super glue and now the flat parts of the bumper thing are uneven so i just kinda stripped the uneven sides to make them smoother.
It works but the front part of the controller where the middle and the left of the LB button has a gap, its bigger.
oh man what a relief, i was barely getting into minute 2 and suddenly it was already fixed before we even moved on... ohhhh!!!
Dude, eye opening video, I just had to blow into my controller and it worked 😅. Thank you!!!
Thank you for that! My rt button was stuck so I did the cardboard meathod.
Thank you for the video. In my case, stupid plastic pad was a problem.. it slipped away from its default position and went inside a bit causing trigger button to get all sticky. I blame myself and Forza Horizon 5 as i did tend to hold acceleration trigger too hard maybe and for too long, causing pad to slip over time.
THANK YOU... for me... This also works for Stick Drift....
I blew into the cracks on the joysticks.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. MY R1 HAS BEEN BROKEN FOR 3 DAY. Finally I can play rainbow six seige
Please don't forcefully remove the grips. If you pry too hard like he has in the video, the small sharp pieces that click into the slots that keeps the grips on the controller will snap. It's best to use a flat object to run along the seams of the grips until slowly but surely it releases its hold.
(Very obviously, I have learned that the small sharp pieces will snap under immense pressure the hard way, I ruined many a great grip that way)
I'm always open to new ways of doing things, but I've never been able to loosen the sides enough to make it come off. Like I mentioned in the video, I've damaged my prying tools trying to do that. My grips are always on there very tight, and brute force is need to separate the pieces. It could be that other models have looser grips.
@@HowToX I've noticed that branded controllers (Like the Gears of War, Halo, and other branded controllers) have easier to pry grips with no strong stickage, and the newer controller grips are just glued on with God's most powerful adhesive
I've always just pulled them off by pressing the trigger down and reaching beneath...never had an issue, done it many times
Wanted to say thank you. The cardboard trick fixed my $250.00 Xbox controller. Thought man I haven’t barely used it as I play on a full sim. I only play race games or sim race games.
Thank you man I was losing all hope but I took a Pokémon card, scraped around Lb then pressed the button for like a minute and it started registering
My right shoulder button felt a bit crusty and barely responsive on the outer side. Did the dry paper, wet paper, blowing and driver update and now it feels normal again. 👌
Awesome
appreciate ur video. I kinda skipped a bit since i had already attempted to update controller. had a broken piece of plastic in there. luckily i own plastic bond lol. waiting on it to cure now!
Thank you so much I got my right bumper to work because of this video
Thank you man for all you do i guess I forgot to clean it
The left trigger is fine when there's no batteries but when i put batteries in it makes the left trigger not move as much or like it kinda makes a scrape and squeaky sound when i press the left trigger and i dont know what to do. Id be grateful if you can help me out
Excellent educational video! Very detailed. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Hi
Excellent video
Bro your 1st method messed up my wired controller and no the button is broken and won’t work thanks a lot!!❤
1st method has done the trick. thanks a lot!
This helped me with my loose LT switch, thanks!
Thank you so much! I used the cardboard/Vacuum method and it worked.
This happens to all my controllers this was my last one my heart dropped so thank you
method 1 was all i needed, my left trigger kept firing when i used the analog stick which for a shooter is mightily annoying but it fixed it right up
I need LB repair and you show me how to replace this part. Thank you.
I have the elite series 2 and when I press the bumpers, my triggers stopping them from going all the way down because it's scraping against it and idk how to fix it
I really want to thank you because u saved me some money
Glad it helped
Hi my LB RB piece is not broken, it's a problem of the little button you showed that gets pressed when someone touches LB/RB...both work, but the LB one does not make the "click" sound when I trigger it and it does not go down...the problem on Xbox series X/s controllers is that it's hidden so I don't know how to clean or eventually replace it
There is actuaally a second rubber pad, I can clearly feel it when I UNPRESS a tirgger, it hits it, but I can't figure out where it is, under the cover of controller or on the trigger itself
This video was very helpful, much appreciated
The padding that the trigger strikes is compresses quite a but when the trigger strikes it and that's causing the trigger to feel "sticky"
what would you recommend for that?
I don't play rough and it hasn't been dropped much, but my floor is this thin line of felt that feels like bare concrete to walk on, and for any dropped item
Thanks for the help I yanked it out and now it’s bent but it’s works
Thankyou! Just replaced my hubbys bumper & trigger buttons with your help! Hi-five!
thank you for the info buddy, very helpful!
software update worked (method 4) like magic! thank you sir!
Can you make a tutorial on how to fix a loose RT on the Xbox one😅
You are a life saver the cardboard method worked
I couldn’t fix my controller. But a good video is a good video. Thank you for your service, Mr. HowtoX
method one worked, thanks for saving me the time, the service tech in me just wanted to start tearing the controller apart
I tried the 2 methods and it worked thanks my bro
