Hello, this is CLAB Studio :D
Today, Korean boy Wanjae and German girl Ari saw German memes together!

These are not German memes. These are memes about Germans.
Yes!! And in addition very very mean and insulting ones! It's not like Germans are all Hitlers like in the one about German pronaunciation! It really hurts since I know a lot of Germans including me and no one is like that.
@@dreamdancer1813 You have to admit that the one with the cat was hilarious though. ;-) I don't think German sounds too harsh/bad. Russian sounds much harsher. Even the actress Mila Kunis, who is Russian, agrees with people who say Russian sounds like Klingon. ;-p
@@SirReptitious I have to admit that I've got no idea 😅 I'm German so I never found it hard to pronounce, but the way the korean guy pronounced it was indeed hiarious. And I also think in songs german sounds no where harsh, but again I'm used to it. Some german songs(pls tell me if it's really that harsh😅): Mark Forster Wir sind groß
Andreas Bourani Auf uns(WM song)
Namika Je ne parle pas francais
@@dreamdancer1813 Nah people shouldn't listen to German music. German musicians who sing and rap in English are good but as soon as they start singing in German, it's crap.

She is lovely, but as a German myself i dont really think she represents what most german girls/women act or sound like. 🤔😅
I know a lot of women who act and sound like this when they are in an unfamiliar situation with people they don´t know. She is shy because she doesn´t know the guy and there are cameras filming her. I think that plays a huge role to why she is acting more docile than German women usually do in a more comfortable situation
@@loen2629 it's not really about her being shy. She is clearly using body language/tonality etc that German culture and speech does not utilise. I have seen many many Western girls that have come to Korea start adopting these mannerisms, and i am not criticising or trying to call her out AT ALL, because as i said she seems lovely. I'm simply pointing out that this is not representative of German "speaking culture". It's hard to explain, but i guess other Germans know what i mean. (And if you are German then i would love to hear where exactly you are from because I'm curious if this is a more regional thing.)
Anyway i dont want this to become a comment spreading negativity, i just wanted to point it out 😶
@@13892 I actually am German too 🙈 I'm from southern Germany, Baden-Württemberg. I do get what you are saying, but to me it didn't seem like the way she speaks is something she adapted (it could be, but it didn't look like that to me). She simply looked like she isn't the most outgoing girl, and on top of that the cameras made her awkward and giggly. I don't really think it's a regional thing in Germany, it just depends on personality. I know quite a few girls who coul react in the same manner if they were in a situation like her 😅 you know, those girls who are usually quiet/introverted and very soft spoken and friendly. I mean, we may all be Germans but we also don't all have the same personality
@@loen2629 True, of course everyone has different personalities. And in general it's probably a good thing for non-Germans to see that this kind of sweet, shy, timid personality exists in our country too 😅

@@Gurrgurr1 Bruh how was she being a Koreaboo, you clearly dont know what being a Koreaboo means.
No.. Lowkey I am from Germany (you probably are as well though._.) and everytime me or my friends meet new people we act the same. Speaking really quiet and soft, covering your mouth while laughing and just smiling the whole time so that everyone feels comfortable. I think it just depends where and how your grow up and not really from which country you are from.
nah. She´s just shy. I know a lot of german girls who are like this around strangers. Especially if there is a camera filming you and many people will watch you, you just act way more shy and awkward than you would usually in a normal setting

15 years ago I went to London, Paris, Frankfurt, Rome and Pompeii. The friendliest people were the Germans; they were all so damn nice!(I'm American). The worst were the French, they were stereotypical French... ;-p I would love to visit both Korea and Japan someday.
Thank you! As a german, i feel really honored to hear foreigners talk nice about the german people :)
ahh you missed the best city...Lisbon and Porto y.y
Paris was the worst for me too. Terribly rude and tried to rip me off two different times because I didn’t speak French...
It’s unfortunate because I’m sure there’s lovely people living in Paris, but the ones dealing with tourists are giving them a bad name.
@@peeandvinegar I don‘t think these people were an exception. I am german and did an exchange with a french girl (was there for a week). Everyone seemed uninterested and the only person who really talked to me was her mother. I cried several times. And the worst thing: French people DON‘T want to learn foreign languages. In France we spoke french the whole time and at my place as well, even though we both have been learning french and german for two years.
@@peeandvinegar I still had a great time in Paris. It was beautiful, and the food was good. They were just the least nice of all the places I went.
She is definitely not a representation of how Germans usually sound when they speak 😅 also.. her high-pitched/cute voice sounds a bit forced too..

I agree
Maybe because she’s also raised in other country.
Well I can tell you that I 100% speak like that because where I am from we had a major issue with our elementary schools.. They kinda screw up with raising us how to speak properly and now 10 years later I still can't raise my voice or speak loud enough so people can hear me from 10 meters away.. Sad but most of us from the city speak like that now._.

The huge drinking culture, the often eaten meat, the more introversion etc. Oooh and Sauerkraut is pretty simular to Kimchi, just without the chili😂
So please don't just assume we are cold-hearted and fight when we're talking😂.
I think you're right ;)
I think so too and even if it doesn't have as many variations as Korean, we also have informal and formal ways to adress people.
In today's world, the North Koreans scare me more than the Germans do. lol

Yeees!!!!! You're right! But Kimchi is similar to Sauerkraut??! That's hella funny!!

Guys just let this poor girl be... Sure it's not "typically German", but I'm sure she just adapted a lot of what is expected from a woman in Korea. Smile but don't show your teeth/laughter and may also the high-pitched voice, the waving and gestures with her hands. It's just some society and beauty standards. No reason to call her out... I think that the two did not know each other before, and she was just shy. Also, she was not speaking her native language. Even though she sounds pretty fluent she is probably still nervous about speaking Korean. When I was on an exchange in France, I spoke quietly too, as if I was mumbling. 😅 So yeah she probably talks so quietly and in a high-pitched voice because she is shy and nervous.

I am always just *on time*. I'm not early, I'm not late, I'm just there when I'm supposed to be xD
I think the memes are so bad. I think the work culture (about stiffness, about being on time, being perfectionist) tends to fit so much more to the asian world than to germany ( I think so as a german)
so true, it's kinda funny because koreans work way harder and way longer hours than Germans
I am falling in love with this channel! I love when you juxtapose people of the same generation who have the ability to speak the same language but yet are from different cultures. I‘m German and I’ve been to Korea before and tbh I think both are pretty stiff at first. Koreans and Germans don’t like talking to strangers (especially small talk) but when you get closer both will eventually open up and become more out going. Just my observation though :)

@CLAB STUDIO you should do Korean teenager meets Mexican friend for the first time, I been wanting that no rush! 🙋♀️
I think Germans and Koreans might be pretty similar in the way they're open or rather not open to obvious strangers. As a German it's relatively easy to connect to other Germans. Not only do we look like each other but there's just an unspoken understanding that we'll have similar ideas of what's fun, polite etc.
However, when you're obviously visually not looking ethnic German it's already a whole lot harder with many people. It doesn't necessarily come from a racist place, but I've actually talked to other Germans about this (I'm German too btw) who frankly told me they're not always sure how to act or properly communicate when someone is obviously foreign. They're not sure how to handle the presumed 'strangeness' of the other, even if that other person might have been born and grown up in Germany as well and just happen to be non-white. And frankly even if all supposed strangeness aside, after living on four different continents in my life I found it takes very little effort to approach and get to an understanding on a human to human level with just about anybody regardless of background.
Of course there are very open-minded people too. But usually that's young people or people who've worked in international settings. Urbanites are a bit better about it too (minus Munich, Munich is very much like a village in this regard). The rule is rather if you're a non-white foreigner in Germany that people on average will be a good bit more reserved with you initially. Also if you're in a student setting at a highschool or uni you don't have to worry at all. Again, young people tend to be more open. Also if you work with the same colleagues for some time they'll definitely eventually make efforts to get to know you better. But in day to day life in random encounters people will look at you as 'stranger' and won't be as easy going for the most part.
Same though btw. if you are white but turn out not to speak any German or English. If you can speak English many people at least will make an effort to accommodate you to some extent. Else they'll just excuse themselves and try to wrap up the situation. Again, with young people you'll have less of an issue. If it's any East European sounding language people might react annoyed or even scared. A lot of negative prejudice going around there.
But yeah, to me it looks Germans just as Koreans are equally convinced they're open and friendly because of course with each other they are. The moment they feel someone may be too different from them to easily know how to act, they get more reserved, but you never realize that if you belong to the native group anyway, so you'll never know until someone who obviously looks different tells you.
Btw. I'm German, but my step-brother is (visibly) half Indian (but German born, grown up and a German citizen) and my husband is Indian too. So from the sidelines all my life I kind of always saw how you frequently get approached very differently in Germany if you look 'foreign'. And it's quite frustrating in how much denial many Germans are about this.
To Germans who go to Korea and feel Koreans are reserved and not very open, this is exactly how Germany often comes across to non-white foreigners or white foreigners from Eastern Europe in day to day life.
@txxnxn absolutely agree with you. People in Germany tend to think racism is a thing of the past and they deny it’s a problem in today’s Germany as well because they themselves never really experience it.
And you are 100% spot on with many people reducing you to your ethnicity no matter what you achieved. You could introduce a black person with a PhD who is a Uni prof to someone and still people will at least secretly if not openly feel superior. They’ll think stuff like ‘well who knows where this person got their title from and how the standards there are’.
Or take my husband as an example. He’s Indian, earns more than I could ever hope to earn in my life, has two college degrees (one from India, one from UK) and in Germany you can just tell many people don’t really believe he’s that successful, it’s like “well how successful can some India possibly be?” And many actually crack jokes in front of me relating to Raj of Big Bang Theory or that Ranjeet character by Kaya Yanar (don’t know if you know him) and expect me to find it a fun comparison to my husband. They don’t even get how racist it is and it drives me so mad that with my husband being such an all over interesting person who has achieved so much, is invested in social causes and interested in so many things, that’s what they boil his identity down to... to my face! And they don’t even see the problem. If you tell them outright they’ll go “oh you know we don’t mean it like that! You know it’s all in good fun!” Well how would you like it if he cracked nazi jokes to your face all day? All in good fun right? All Indians are like your racist TV portrayals and all’s Germans are like Hollywood movie nazis right? So funny!!! Not!
It’s a reason why we made the choice very early to never stay in Germany. Every country has racists, sure, but in countries with strong migration history like US or Uk at least there are more people who are used to people who look different than them and who will approach both him and me as human beings and not as whatever their idea of a stereotype is. As for Germany we’re not up for that everyday kind of frustrating alienation in our lives.
The thing about never truly being considered native will be the same in Korea. Actually it’s the same anywhere where people are still used to being more or less homogenous and have a lesser percentage of non-natives in the country. You always remain ‘foreigner’ if you look different even if you were born and grew up there. Heard the same about Japan. Even I have to say in India it’s the same too. I’ve lived in India for the last 7 years, i speak our local language, still many people approach me like I’m a tourist fresh off the boat. That will never change. The only difference here is that I actually enjoy more white privilege here than I ever did in my life because there is still a lot of internalized colonialism going on here and people right away think I’m rich and treat me extra attentively. Many white people who visit India get the most disgusting ego boost through that fact. I find it uncomfortable cause I know why it’s happening. At least after getting to know me people treat me normally, and even otherwise why would I complain as compared to what my husband has to deal with in my home country?
I have never been to Korea, so I wouldn’t really know, but the thing that makes the everyday racism which many Germans deny is even racism so annoying is that even if someone is trying to be nice you can still feel they don’t quite see a non-white person as a person first but rather as their ethnicity first. And there is always that slight or very open condescending attitude that swings along with it. People are shocked and baffled when we say ‚No, we could never imagine living in Germany.‘ they actually cannot believe it. How would you chose India over Germany? Well we get to be two people in India. In Germany we only get to be me and „her Raj from Big Bang theory“. We‘re just not up for that.
And it doesn’t help there are many nice people of course too. For how comfortable you feel in a country it matters a lot how your day to day interactions with random people every day go down. And it just grinds you down if you feel regularly that people automatically perceive themselves superior to you.
That's very interesting perspective to know... Thank you. 😊

I am a bit surprised by some Germans in the comment section wondering about her being not very typical for a German. And what exactly would that be, pray tell? :D Actually, I have met a lot of people in Germany who are a bit like her and just as many who are not. It really depends who you run into!
The only thing she probably adapted from Koreans over time are the gestures/hand motions. In Germany they are different and some are less common, like covering your mouth when laughing or eating. Some people in other countries - even Germany - do it, too, though, not just Koreans (or Japanese for that matter, it's a very common mannerism there as well)
To be honest, I find it very nice and respectful that she adapts a little depending on who she is speaking to. When she speaks directly with him, she adapts, while when she speaks German or English with her face towards the camera, the mannerism changes slightly. There is nothing wrong with it in my opinion - in fact, I find it very positive to note.
Why is it making people uncomfortable when somebody smiles a lot? If that is her nature, why shouldn't she? It doesn't look forced? If it did, it would be more uncomfortable, right?
Maybe a little bit more open mindedness would be a good thing to learn from the two of them ;)
No front aber niemand in deutschland spricht so
3:00 she said "i'm here today to film a video and it's fun"
I want them to react to the yangyang memes xD
He is calling her nuna it's so cute :3
Toll gemacht, Ari. Sehr sympatisch...
Hehe😃
The way she rolls the r 😆
Lol✌🏻
@@arichuu3094 so typisch deutsch. Liebe Grüße aus Berlin.
Well as a German myself, I have to say that one needs to consider Ari is exceptionally nice. She is generally speaking nicer than probably the average person. A lot of Germans are colder and tend to mind their own business and go straight by the rules. Not that that is always a bad thing. And since she is only talking about her personal experiences it does not apply to the norm for the most part.
But they were super sweet together ^^
Thank you so so much!💙 dankee~~
I mean
GURKE, PAPRIKA, TOMATE, BROT IN SUSHI?! WHAT IS DAS
LOL! The guy cannot stop to flirt with her
I think that the meme with the sausage and the WiFi was more like "it's worse" because 'Wurst' (in english sausage) sounds in german a little bit like 'worse'... and here in germany are many small villages in which the WiFi isn't as good as in the citys😂
i am getting more and more offended by those so called memes....
yes mee too, they are just a bunch of stereotypes
The cat meme was hilarious! I think I felt that way when I was learning the Umlaut, too! I think that a lot of these memes are an exaggeration. I think the work, work, work meme is outright wrong. Germans do value their private lives a lot and separation of work life and personal life is usually very strict. I think it’s more the Americans and the Japanese that are ‘work, work, work’. But the humor part is a bit true. Germans are not known for their humor. And legally, Germans may drink alcohol from 16 years, but they may drink from 14 years old if they are accompanied by their parents.
Learning German IS like it wants to know it's smarter than you! Doch! 🤣🤣🤣
Seen a similar meme with the cat and the letter "ü" but replaced with our last letter "ö" and the pic was an alpacca. xD It's exactly the same idea, even though most swedes and most germans would understand the difference between ö and ü. :)
I need Italian memes, Korean and Italian reacting to them
Early ok
Me: 2 hours to early to scool
Her accent is so cute
Thank youu💛
As a German I cant stop laughing, these memes are gold! We are a lil special I guess 😂
I like how asians really take everything literally😂he doesnt get that the toothpaste is just a metaphor for our efficiency
Oh god this music
Her-"germans like to be soon and have a plan"
Me(german)- don't even come on time to school 😂
Wanjae is very handsome!
Hab ich Deutsch gelesen :'D 🎃🔥🧡
She seems nice, but also I got the feeling that she is trying hard to be a cute/adorable and nice girl, which it not wrong, it just doesn't look like it's her natural character (not that she is mean) it just feels a bit extra and overwhelming
Don't judge me🙂❤
what if thats her personality sis..
han !!! Nah she just feshizes koreans she even has korean girlfriend 💀 I can swear her titles include “I pranked my KOREAN boyfriend”
@@abiss201 the chuu couple is her, so it is so. Funny fetish lol. Korea is the place with the highest amount of plastic surgery in the world, all look the same like in the north just in plastic (sry bad joke watched too many documentaries on Kim)
him: toothpaste
me: ehm..
We have those õ, ä, ö, ü
4:06 xd I agree im not saying everyone is like that but probably many or close to majority are like that. im from germany myself and people are just so sensitive sometimes...I cant even enjoy one funny tiktok related to animals cause there is always gonna be a person from germany accusing soomebody of hurting that animal XD
germans: germans are open and outgoing
rest of the world: ehm..
Well it depends on where are you from, Americans think they are friendly and open, but for me, an Argentinian, they are cold people
that girl seems extremely koreanized...
3:11 Me trying to say water in french
I’m german and this is so funny 😂
pls why do i have a crush on ari
I miss getting together with my friends to drink and party. Germany said no to everything because of the pandemic.....
Miss finding thousand of embarrassing pic and videos on my phone of me and people idk the next morning after having partied hard the night before 😂😂😂
2:16 min Lachflash. Genial.
