- We're back on the 68 Camaro. Today we tackle the quarters on the car. They where partially installed by a previous owner but needed a little fine tuning. A little cutting and hammering was needed to pull it all together.
At this point all the real ugly work has been taken care of, should be all down hill from here.... I hope.

I love this car Dan, and you always do the hard work so the next guy just has to do the finishing work the way he wants. Most people don't have the knowledge, equipment or intestinal fortitude to do the hard stuff. Really great job!
If I said it once I said it a thousand times. Dan saves them from the shredder and who ever buys it from Dan can pretty it up in their own fashion. It sounds like kids commenting on Dan's work, whom don't have the experience to fully comprehend the process from the grave to the cradle!

Doing a fine job I think. The only concern is the rust on the inside of the metal that is well together.

I’m a machinist not a welder, you are doing great. I did oxy acetylene welding back in the day and I’m going to learn Mig some day , in the mean time i watch welding videos on UA-cam and enjoy my retirement. And watching you save old cars from the crusher is the best pastime of all.

I watch another channel, the name of which shall remain undisclosed, go from a avg guy build to a 30-40K cash magnet. That channel has never returned to it's roots and features builds with and endless supply of sponsored parts and I assume a fair amount cash in the mix. Don't ever change.
I got it. Feel the same. Fun to watch that one but not average guy builds.

Plug welds are stronger then spot welds, so even the worse hackery will end up stronger then the factories hackery ;) .. keep on saving them, the haters online watch too many Barnie Jeffersons auctions on TV. They don't understand how you're bringing cars that 1% of people can work with up to an area where more like 50-75% of people could take it from and that's truly what "saving" these cars are all about.

Keep the video's going with norm good job, please don't think about what people think, because alot of people can't do what you do,when you hear you say what you hear about what people say,it sounds ruff when you hear it coming from you in the videos,you all are alot better then that, keep up the good work.
My grandpa used to say, If you don’t weld well, weld a lot. He also explained that if you weld a lot eventually you will weld well. It doesn’t have to be pretty, it just has to be functional.
I honestly love all the rejuvenation videos. I don’t call them restoration videos, because you are making it so it’s safe, functional and able to go have some fun with. If you totally restore something you don’t want to do that with it anymore and it just sits. That’s not good for anything at that point other than trying to get your money back out of it and really won’t ever happen unless it’s a Barrett Jackson Quality Restoration.
I appreciate that Dan gives a fair assessment of the work done by the previous owner. Some good, some not quite at his standards so .. he will just fix it for the next owner. I would not have a problem buying a car Dan put together. 🇨🇦

Watching this Camaro be rescued from the crusher even has me watching thru an Old Spice commercial which is agony in comparison.
Most people don't know what kind of time actually goes into a "restoration" and let's face it. If you're putting a car on a rotisserie you're probably planning on going way over factory with it anyway. This car is going to make somebody really happy. It's going to be a kickass daily that they can enjoy driving the crap out of.💯

Dan a restoration you have to take it apart ,inventory everything,have the metal dipped ,see what’s left ,cut apart bad metal ,replace metal put it in a rotisserie to make it perfect. That would be a numbers matching car maybe. The modified cars are now worth a lot. Dan you are making a solid running and driving car (that will be on the road) for the next guy for a decent price. If the bottom of the quarter panel isn't going flush at the lower rocker is because the quarter flange that sits on the rocker needs a notch cut out where it meets the outer wheel house. Behind the flange there is a spot on the wheel house that has a slight factory notch in it the replacement quarter panel on the lower flange needs to be notched ,so you are able to push the quarter panel flush to the lower rocker.

Still great channel when I was layed up couple years ago found few so I could breath some cars instead working on them! First chance walk hit the yard smell is what you miss oil and fuel lol

We used to get those 5-gallon buckets of seam sealer came with a brush you can just clean it up and some lacquer thinner but they had gallon cans too it looks just like factory use a brush on it just be sure to clean your brush off. I don't know if they got the dollar store in Canada I'm sure they do but nothing's a dollar

I use dollar store paint brushes to smooth out seam sealer. Then just chuck it out when I'm done.
I use them in the parts washer...lol

Well I'm looking pretty good underneath their Dan least you got the rust out of it put some rust inhibitor cleaned up some of them Wells nice look on the undercoat it's a thumbs up with me hit them doors and Fender lined up a little but I think you ought to sit in this one without them Wing glasses you'll feel like you got more room Moore arms space I think you'll have more leg space just put smaller seeds in it Camaro has small thin seats till tomorrow be watching

This car is not as jacked up as I thought it was. It needs a lot of attention but the bones are good.

I am sure you will get all the hard work done and then sell it for a really good price.
Unfortunately a 68 Camaro trim tag won't tell you much other than original color and trim, which makes proving undocumented HiPo models much more difficult, (and makes fake SS and Z28 builds harder to disprove if they've made a real effort to fake one). The 68 trim tags weren't as detailed as the 67 trim tags, which listed all the goodies such as SS, Z28, console, power windows, etc. Fortunately for you Canadians, Canada kept better VIN records though on GM cars built there, and cars have been verified through that process.

I could fix that up like mint. Its a good start for damn sure. And also they are NOT MAKING 68 Camaross any more The Quarter panels will sand off and hold primer. A Grinder and wire wheel and sand paper will make it beautiful. Primer and paint. Its a Good car it will need some new multi leafs springs. Its a good car. It can be as good as a guy wants to make it. Its really pretty good.

Hey Dan, great work on this one. Giving me ALL kinds of ideas to do my own work. What is your advice on car lifts? Is what you have safe and adequate for your needs? I was thinking of going the same route as you and do this style of lift. Any suggestions would be super helpful from you or your followers.
