Cruise Ships, per International Maritime Law, has to have lifeboats with the same capacity as its maximum occupancy, in terms of crew, staff, and passengers. That is the last contingency when all other measures have failed, and the Captain has ordered Abandon Ship. Further, each liferaft has to meet the same International Regulations regarding all other hard shell liferafts, found on commercial shipping, and both oil rigs, and platforms. The question is: how many of those liferafts has this barge been fitted with. They're pretty obvious to spot, given the specific orange colour they are painted in ...
The whole upper area, the living space, has just been stripped down and re-built to a completely different layout - so all previous fire evaluations are invalid.
@@vylbird8014 Absolutely ... Also missing are any discernable liferafts, that, if this was an accommodation barge for the oil and gas industry, should be mandatorily fitted to match maximum occupancy ...
@@nigelft There's also a lack of egress. You can find the plans easily enough - there are only two ways off the ship, through a maze of narrow passages, each just wide enough to walk down single-file. It looks to be intentionally designed that way - I presume that one of the design criteria is that no-one should be able to enter or leave the ship without passing through a checkpoint.
@@vylbird8014 It's a typical Home Office f up. They want to roll this model out further but who in the fire service would sign off on this? Anyone who has signed off plans know they have personal responsibility/liability for doing so. To me, this is the the Tory government hanging out red meat for the frothy mouthed racists in the hope that those loons will vote Tory at the next election. It's desperate stuff.
No. Look at the barge. There are two open courtyards, but they are on the inside: The outer part is entirely surrounded by building. There are windows, but they are of the type that don't open far enough to exit through. There are only two ways off the barge, both of which are narrow ramps to shore. I imagine this is intentional: The designers were told to make sure that no-one can 'jump ship' to leave the boat without their departure being recorded.
One more thing. Typical, do they not have managers in the Fire service. Why is the union rep deciding on “ what we require” and what would fix the problem. Talk about political, where are the managers, playing snooker?
I'm sorry to say this, but I just don't care. They were not invited here and they must take what they get. I like the tent idea, where they get all their basic necessities but no luxuries, and are treated humanely. Put this to a vote, and I think you'll find most Brits feel the same.

No-one wants them to suffer. But the British taxpayer has had enough. We have issues of our own to fix. Why should these people's problems become ours?
We are being invaded. No humans enjoy it and most would fight for it. Personally I think ALL foreign criminals and their dependents should be immediately deported. I don’t care where to.
Ask each and every person who should be onboard NOW, (or should have been deported already) do they feel safer in a barge moored in a safe haven, rather than open water sea's. If a single answer is NO, fill it to the max, drag it out to international water, and let it go free of mooring charges.

Really expensive "pop up" accommodation chosen more out of malice than practicality. Why not tents and prep fab mobile structures and can be assembled and disassembled easily for transport. Oh of course we might actually be able to solve a bunch of other social issues then, can't have that. Can only be living a way no-one would reasonably want to.
Political expedience. Anywhere that such a facility might be built there would be a lot of local opposition - every council in the country would be obliged to fight against it, challenge the decision in court, and delay construction for years. It's one of those NIMBY things: Even people who accept the need will turn vehemently against it in their area. The barge is a sort of sneaky workaround: It's not actually a fixed structure, even a temporary one, so it doesn't need council approval.
@@vylbird8014 Yeah that's why in my suggestion no facility would be in a permanent location and could be flexibly assembled, and disassembled for logistical transport from project to project... But whatever who you meant to convince eh? I mean you could accommodate seasonal agricultural workers to better standards but whatever. You could facilitate a bunch of horticultural and conservational projects on different landscapes, you could do rehab specific projects and eliminate all homelessness, but whatever... You could help climate and conflict refugees out before the point of them needing to migrate too far from their home country, they could be assisted to the standards of care we expect in the west.. But whatever, who you meant to convince because nimbys right, oh well. Nah they're just nasty they don't want to attend to homeless veterans or any of that stuff, they won't set up facilities off shore where asylum applications can be processed, like the French apparently offered and could be done a bunch of places. This horrible barge is just grim and coming from a place of low key malice and a desire to punish others for their circumstances. Because UK asylum seekers have little to no opportunity to have their applications processed off shore then legitimate applicants will get bunged in with illegitimate ones, horrible nasty cramped barge on some industrial docks. Grim. Really really bad.
After reading the comments, I get further insight into the discrimination and exclusion I often experience in England. And I imagine behind the polite smiles and facade of professionalism is actually hatred, prejudice and evil.
You are not getting a representative sample in youtube comments, people who comment online are usually the dregs of society confined to their mothers basement who never go outside. Doesnt mean immigration needs to carry on. We need to atop immigration and deport people who werent born here, but that doesnt mean we should hate the immigrants, they are just doing what they believe is best for them as an individual.

How many woke civil servants does it take to do due diligence? Could any be roused from home working? Could they manage to divert from making complaints and 10 year diversity plans or were they deliberately sabotaging this?
Look at the boat - it's designed to make that impossible. Government doesn't want people leaving the boat without being recorded, so it's constructed in such a way as to make the edge of the boat inaccessible. The buildings on top form a wall, with only two gaps for monitored ramps connecting to shore.

It seems the safety only became a concern when the occupants were non brits. This boat has been occupied by dozens of different groups. The only reason this is an issue is because migrants are going on it and lawyers will make a killing fighting the government on this
So what about cruise ships then?.
Yea we're not bothered mate don't worry about it
Ohh but it was perfectly safe to use for all the previous workforce that used it in the past that it was probably over manned
The whole upper area, the living space, has just been stripped down and re-built to a completely different layout - so all previous fire evaluations are invalid.
@@vylbird8014
Absolutely ...
The Firefighter's lives will also be at risk if they have to attend any fires there.
So there is some common sense out there 👏 👏
if its unsafe the more the merrier
Good
Even the fire service demands they carry on being put in expensive hotels . Britons really do love massive migration
Funny how they only pipe up when non-natives are involved 😅
So what ever money has been spent on this is another waste of money and I am NOT surprised about that.
Whats wrong with putting the Bibby in the Thames outside Parliament?
Bye bye barge…… hello Dorset Villages and towns……..
Aren't they missing something obvious here. The boat is stationary surrounded by water, isn't that an escape route.
No. Fire is no joke, it can spread quickly, their a enough combustible materials on boats to fuel a fire.
google floating hotel fires
@@AT-gu8by if their is any fires, its because the migrants have started them like they have done at numerous sites before.
@@somthingbrutal google UK illegal migrant crisis
Am I bovvered?
One more thing. Typical, do they not have managers in the Fire service. Why is the union rep deciding on “ what we require” and what would fix the problem. Talk about political, where are the managers, playing snooker?
I'm sorry to say this, but I just don't care. They were not invited here and they must take what they get. I like the tent idea, where they get all their basic necessities but no luxuries, and are treated humanely. Put this to a vote, and I think you'll find most Brits feel the same.
A tent is not a roof and heating. That does not meet your own bar.
@@TheHestya It does if it's the right kind of structure. We've come a long way since the basic canvas variety. Heating, toilet facilities and food would be provided, of course. No-one wants them to suffer. But the British taxpayer has had enough. We have issues of our own to fix. Why should these people's problems become ours?
Interesting you said 'treated humanely' whilst not demonstrating anything humane in your comment!
Don't be sorry for not wanting your country being invaded by unlimited migrants that hate you.
We are being invaded. No humans enjoy it and most would fight for it.
Personally I think ALL foreign criminals and their dependents should be immediately deported. I don’t care where to.
My friends house is not safe but o one worries about her
Ask each and every person who should be onboard NOW, (or should have been deported already) do they feel safer in a barge moored in a safe haven, rather than open water sea's. If a single answer is NO, fill it to the max, drag it out to international water, and let it go free of mooring charges.
Wow I bet you are a lovely human being

I don't know what he's concerned for. I'm not !
Then you have no soul.
He's concerned because he's a normal human being. There is clearly something not right in your head. Perhaps he's seen people die in a fire. Maybe it would be good for you to experience the terror of being trapped on a burning barge. You'd be hoping people like him were concerned enough to want to rescue you. Personally, I wouldn't interfere.
@@gio-oz8gfmaybe he’s seen his community destroyed by these people? Maybe he doesn’t care, and maybe you care too much? There’s a lot of badness going on in the world. Too much for us to deal with, and we’ll destroy ourselves if we try.
@@gio-oz8gf if its adequate for oil workers then its safe to sleep illegal immigrants. Isn't it ? I believe they will set it on fire anyway to get moved away like they have in other places. Are them who set fires in accommodation have concerns for anyone else. Do any of them have concerns when venturing of in inflatable rafts overcrowded and only enough diesel to make it half way across one of the world's busiest shipping lanes that put the RNLI lives at risk having to save them.
If they are not concerned about our service mens lives then I'm struggling to have concerns over some people who should even be hear !! They are not my concern.
@@jimthompson9370 No community in the UK has been destroyed by asylum seekers. Stop manufacturing excuses to justify your irrational racism. Then why build it? 😂
These 77th brigade fairy tails get deeper and deeper.
Sink it, then it wont catch fire

If the government doesn't follow the advice of the fire brigade, why would anyone one else? Its for the safety of everybody onboard and the fire fighter if they have to respond.

Doesnt mean immigration needs to carry on. We need to atop immigration and deport people who werent born here, but that doesnt mean we should hate the immigrants, they are just doing what they believe is best for them as an individual.

Well it seems to have been safe for previous occupants. This smells like a lefty lie to me 🤔
If there’s a fire, jump in the water. It’s not difficult
Look at the boat - it's designed to make that impossible. Government doesn't want people leaving the boat without being recorded, so it's constructed in such a way as to make the edge of the boat inaccessible. The buildings on top form a wall, with only two gaps for monitored ramps connecting to shore.
