    Love this video thanks for helping a ton! Please keep the Eclipse videos coming! I've just got a 2001 GT and I'm learning to work repairs on it. Currently on a mission to replace/fix the transmission.

    Its a 6g72 not a g672. Some auto part stores would look up a '72 pontiac G6.

    So what all accessories did you have to take off? I assume just the power steering pump could stay?

    Thank you!! Its so hard to find videos on 3G eclipses!!
    I think my car has started to jump RPMs someone told me it could be the timing belt or the timing gears. Any tips on checking either?

      probably just timing belt or tensioner. We got into this one because it was time to change it. Opening it up to see was not too hard. Thanks for your comment.

    Hi, this was a while ago and I do not know if you will see this. I have the same car. How did you get the engine side mount off. Meaning the one actually mounted to the engine. Not the one with the rubber damper mount. Thank you

    Gates is a good brand you should changed it while you had it apart!

    So I'm in the process of putting my eclipse back together and I has to reset my timing. I have my timing all set the way you do in this video but my shroud near the crankshaft gear at the bottom has some raised numbering on it that measures. 20 - 10(BTDC) - T. Are we sure we are supposed to set the time on the rankshaft to that spot on the right side of the gear and not to something displayed on the shroud. Also. Do I have to pull the cap off my distributor and set "ignition timing" as well?

    • @joshuamallory3743
      @joshuamallory3743 4 роки тому

      Or do the position sensors control firing of distributor in this car and you don't have to worry about ignition timing?

    I've got an 04 Stratus RT with the 3.0 as well. Hope you changed the tensioner pulley and that hydraulic pin while you were there. They tend to go bad, once it does it sounds like someone threw a penny in the engine lol.

    I have a question. Is there a reason you checked the timing belt? My car cranks but won't turn over. New fuel pump/filter.

    how did you know the timing was off mine intermittent misfire and after 1400 at a shop and a new computer it does the same thing still

      the car was purchased at auction, had 103K miles, and was making noise. My suspicion was water pump and timing belt - turned out to be just one cam out of time.

      How did you correct the timing for that specific cam?

      With the Mark's dont line up then you are off even by a teeth. Miss fire can have alot of reasons. You can have a bad spark plug or even a head gasket leak

    I still own an eclipse 2003 gt the two cylinder heads had to be replaced, the ps pump replaced, the oil pump replaced. It's been a pain. I saved the car from going to the yard many times. I am looking to sell it off and get a 4 cylinder. V6 is a real pain.

    I'm considering buying this make and model Eclipse, 2003 v6. It has 112,00 miles and they're asking $2500. What's you overall opinion on this car. Expensive, high maintenance crap, or not so much? Thanks

      Its a good engine. Fun car to drive. There is an enthusiast market for these cars as well. Its been a good purchase.

      Tom Hare look under the car for leaks. Check engine light turns on when you switch on. Road test it for unusual sounds and vibrations. Check the history carfax for prior accidents. Engine block cracks can happen.

    I have a 2003 eclipse but new timing belt on .it started but won't turn over...any ideas??

    • @aviedelson945
      @aviedelson945  6 років тому +2

      "started" sounds like it must have turned over... unless you mean you turn the key and nothing happens. If that is the case then I would consider battery wiring, new battery, started wiring, new starter. That should at least get the car to turn over. next would be ignition, spark, fuel delivery, air intake ... you may need a mechanic.

    How did you get the crankshaft pulley off??

    • @aviedelson945
      @aviedelson945  6 років тому

      removed the pulley nut with a propped breaker bar (turning the engine over). Pulley came off with puller easily.

    Some terrible noises on this video that are often louder than the voice itself do difficult to understand the video.

    Terrible video. If you went to all this trouble, you do a full timing kit and water pump. Do it again in 60,000 miles. Full on balls or none at all. 😃
