Monty plays the Queen of Thieves so well! He actually plays her like she's always got all the strings to pull, and makes it believable! It also helps that Kelly, Jill, and Joe roleplay so well and fall exactly where Monty wants them...when they aren't pulling their clever shenanigans
"Good evening and welcome back to Drakkenheim. This is The Dungeon Dudes, weekly, Dungeon and Dragon live stream campaign. My name is Monty Martin, running this as The Dungeon Master" yes Yes *Yes*
If I were Sebastian, I'd throw the guilt right back at Kat. Kat knows that she needlessly exaggerates the circumstances of her sister's disappearance. She knows how hard it is to simply turn back time and bring her back, or she would've done it herself by now. If Kat was truly willing to give anything to save her sister, she'd be willing to give up some control or extend some trust to the only other person in the world who also cares about bringing her back as much as she does. Kat needs to let go of her ego in order to save Eliza von Kessel
Hearing the story from Cat‘s perspective was heavy. Especially the line about being able to give back shit you stole, but never the time you robbed from a person‘s young life
So glad to see you guys back up and running! No sweat at all about the break being extended. I dare say the real life things you guys had going on were far more important. Congrats on the baby Joe! I hope you and your family are doing well-and Jill yours too! All these new heroes emerging. 💞 excited to get the box in the mail with all the Kickstarter goodies! The delerium dice looks so cool with the gold edges. Really pops 😍
I started bingeing Critical Role in the gap in this series, and I find that while I prefer to listen to Critical Role in the background while I do something, I will sit and watch this series intently for 3 hours straight. Love it, thanks so much Dungeon Dudes. Edit to add: I have thought about why, and I think it is the pacing. Critical Role is awesome, but can be extremely slow moving (sometimes many hours for a single combat encounter). If you aren't paying full attention for an hour or three, most of the time you aren't missing anything that will significantly affect the story. Drakkenheim has much better pacing, IMO, and therefore better payoff for keeping sustained attention.
Yes these guys are amazing no other campaigns like this on UA-cam they are great at playing the roles they've created and it's so enjoyable and inspiring to watch
Spoiler DREAM?! What an unexpected and niche spell pick on a “spells known” character. It’s totally on theme for wraths trippy bag of mind games, I straight up had not even heard of this spell before this episode. Thanks for the great episode guys! So great to have y’all back.
Every time I see the Queen of Thieves, all I can think about is why she thought that bringing her little sister to a demon summoning was a good idea. Like, what was the thought process in her head that made her think, ‘Yeah, let’s bring my little sister to a demon summoning! This is totally a good idea that couldn’t possibly go wrong!”
Actually, I feel like that's part of the story. Caterina was also largely responsible for what happened to Mouse, but Sebastian is too caught up in his own guilt to properly realize that, and Caterina either personally refuses to take any responsibility, or maybe is refusing to mention her own guilt in order to continue to manipulate Sebastian.
I don't think she 'brought her sister to demon summoning'. She would regularly bring her sister to hang out with the cute half-elf sorcerer who would show off with illusions and tell stories punctuated with impressive feats of magic. One day he decided to make the horror story a bit more immersive by calling forth a real demon instead of using illusions, but it got out of hand. They didn't start the day saying 'today's the day we summon a demon' more like let's hang out and do cool tricks... oh... oh no... oh fuck!
Rudy "Was that your first kiss?" Monty proceeds to barely hold his composer by literally holding his head together 😂 you guys are absolutely amazing. Thanks for keeping us all enthralled and laughing!
I have to say that the look on the players face when you said about the family being visited was fantastic. You could see the anger, helplessness, thinking of way to do something, then the realization that they have been corner, then resolve to negotiate, and also this is not over look. Bravo to all, and great execution by Dm of something players where not expecting.
Season 1: Best RP from Monty was the Queen of Thieves Season 2: Best RP from Monty was Bruce Season 3: Having both of these in one episode having some of the best lines they've had was/is an absolute treat!
I'm glad you all had a break from the regular games, but WOW am I so happy to see you back! Your break coincided with my last campaign ending and we've yet so start the new one (will this weekend) so the D&D Void of 2022 is over; huzzah!
This might be a bit late at this point but i have a strong feeling that she has already forgotten about Mouse and is just using it to manipulate Sebastian. It seems like shes just playing that card constantly and doesnt actually give a crap about getting her back. No spoilers pls :)
I'm so happy to see yall back! Now the cliffhanger can be concluded...and before I begin watching I'm going to assume Sebastian makes a deal with the queen to get the trio in a sticky situation lol.
I really feel for Sebastian when ever he has to deal with The Queen of Thieves. Realizing that someone you deeply loved is a manipulator and toxic is one of the most emotionally painful things to go through because once the illusion has been shatter there is no repairing it.
Late reply, the queens a really effective character, because pc’s have poor abilities to negotiate ( I think it’s by design). I would think that charisma based characters with 20 in charisma would have better negotiation abilities. I think these two do great, but they should play to the characters core abilities.
You know the one thing I notice about the Queen of Thieves is she is a terrible negotiator. Like ok she has the keys and the group has the chests. She proposes a deal but then tries to tack on a rather ambiguous favor, which let's face it is going to be a deception in itself. At that point I would have gone "No deal have a nice day". Because she wants those chests back badly and with her penchant for betrayal and backstabbing I feel it's more dangerous to her to deny her any asset no matter how small. And that's how I would approach every negotiation with her. She gets nothing every time and if that means we get nothing either so be it. Oh you want this rare painting too bad it's on fire now. And with her continually throwing her sister in Sebastian's face I'd be furious and tell her "Ok here's the deal. You get nothing. Not only do you get nothing but we will make it our mission to make sure you never have anything. We will take anything and everything you claim as your own no matter how small and petty. And you will be mocked as the queen of thieves who could take anything but keep nothing because you betrayed everyone who might have been a friend. And when you are crying on your floor of whatever empty place you call home I will light that on fire and not even give you the dignity of my pity, Queen of Nothing." Like of all the characters she has earned so much of my ire.
That's nice but drakkenwardens needed the rod much more than she did tbf, they were bluffing their negotiations and even if they did turn her down how were they going to stop the Queen from hurting the people they care about? Or stop her from revealing to everyone that she is also a Von Kessel and has a right to the throne? Or stop her from infiltrating whatever place she wants and absolutely wrecking it
@@grantgarbour Well for several reasons to start with yes they were bluffing but I've noticed the players don't always stick to their bluff. The fact she's even asking for something from the chests means she needs that more than the players do. So you double down on the bluff and force her to play ball. As for the Queen hurting people she's going to do that anyway. The queen only cares about the queen and she doesn't care about anyone even her allies. In the end it's a toothless threat if she's coming to the players she is obviously less capable than the three of them collectively so she hurts their families it is gonna come back to bite her. She can't claim the throne due to the Edicts of Lumen she's a spellcaster and disqualified. I'm surprised they HAVEN'T outed her for that. The queen herself is a bluffer. She doesn't hold all the cards as she would have other believe, and she doesn't have the power to take things by force or she would have already.
