  • Vienna Symphonic Library continues the Duality Strings concept with Duality Strings Virtuoso. This time they're focused on more niche articulations and tempo-synced phrases that go a long way with adding realism and that "human" element to your compositions.

Thanks for the illuminating run through of Duality Strings Virtuoso. Of all demos and run-thoughs I’ve come across, only yours revealed things about this library I didn’t know existed. This was the game changer. Here, you offered the first display I’ve heard of what lies beneath the high dynamic layers. VSL libraries are loaded with detail, including awesome “sub-articulations” in the pp - mp range.
I never heard anything as cool as that heavenly guitar-like strumming of the pizz chords, the richness of the low-velocity low-register arpeggios, and the actual bounce of the ricochets. All demos I’ve heard have the ricochets at ff where they present more like a hybrid staccato/detache. Little did I know that the gorgeous artisan ricochet bounce lived in the lower dynamic layers. VSL offers a range of articulations within each named articulation. One can always raise the master volume for one of those lower dynamic, sub articulations, as needed.
Less talk, more articulation detail, really works for me. I understand that some extra info is helpful for those that didn’t already get it elsewhere. But at some point in the expose, a deep look into the actual library content should prevail - as you have done here!
    Thanks!

I must add that the demos of the different mic perspectives and mix options shown in this look into the Duality concept via the Virtuoso, also tilted the scale in demonstrating the high value of this library (reflecting on the entire Duality series). It seems the options brought by having a second dry B ensemble can add a lot of possibilities for many musicians, from singer songwriters, to large score orchestrators. The A ensemble mics were shown not to be simply increasing room reverb levels, because along with the B group, they provided a diverse range of delicious sonic textures. Can't wait to tweak some to my music.
