"Zips" is a slur used by Italian American mafiosi to refer to recent immigrant gangsters from Italy. The slur was commonly used during the early 20th century. However, it has stuck around ever since. When speaking about these gangsters, I am referring to Sicilians (who are members of the Sicilian Mafia), Campanians ( who are members of the Camorra) and Calabrians (who are members of the 'Ndrangheta, a Mafia-style organised crime group based in Calabria). There are a number of different theories as to the origin of the slur. The slur was used especially in regards to the Sicilian mafiosi, who spoke a Sicilian dialect that the American-born and raised mobsters found difficult to understand. The dialect the Sicilians were speaking, it was like the words just "zipped" by. Another theory about the origin of the slur comes from the fact that the Sicilian mafiosi had a preference for homemade zip guns as opposed to guns built by firearms manufacturers or gunsmiths. Yet another theory is that the slur is a contraction of a Sicilian slang term for "hicks" or "primitives".
8:31 aj's dad throws a violent fit in front of him and carmela shames him for being in the kitchen when he's supposed to getting dress, acting like it's somehows AJ's fault for witnessing that. Some grade A parenting, lol

Furio's actor in real life is like a painter or something, as I recall. Looks pretty natural though, probably seen some shit in his day, lol.
He also speaks fluent english. It's pretty weird to listen to him in interviews.
