Hands down, best Batman movies and music ever. Thanks, Danny Elfman and Tim Burton. Can't forget Steve Bartek and the musicians who played on this, also.
+Highland804 Whole heartedly agree. I love Zimmer's music, but Elfman's theme has so much more to offer in terms of true soul and vibrance. A different style for a different era of filmmaking (even if it only was around 20 years apart).
I love Hans Zimmer's music but Danny nailed it 100% with this score. Absolutely my favorite musical description of the Dark Knight. Such a poetic score, so many layers.
0:00 The Batman theme (Main title) 3:06 Vicki Spies (Flowers) 5:39 Joker's Poem 6:09 Clown Attack 7:03 Up the Cathedral (Cathedral Chase) Note for the uploader: The last track seems to be incomplete. Could you check this fact? Thanks in advance.
Whether you liked the Tim Burton film or not, his movie revamped the happy camper comics, and influenced the popular dark deco 90's cartoon, "Batman the Animated Series." So in a way, Batman's character is who he is today thanks to Tim Burton's films, who took the liberty of transposing him into a dark avenger, instead of an Adam West cereal-sitcom-special.
No, those kudos go to Alan Moore, Neil Adams, Danny Oneil, and Frank Miller, who writing a grittier and darker Batman years before this. Those are where Tim Burton drew from. His Batman was not original, he only made it pliable for kids.
maybe its because i was born then.. i was born in 88', and i still think the 2 Tim Burtons Batmans are the BEST. The setting, music.. everything. I think Gotham should be as Tim Burton imagined it.
More like Denny O'Neil and Neal Adams. Then I guess you could say Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, and Kevin Conroy, though there's also Eric Radomski and other guys like him. Some would say Frank Miller too. But anyway, it l started with O'Neil and Adams.
If you listen closely to the Hans Zimmer Score there is definitely a homage to this theme. I love when there are people that, while creating new, they can have a respect for the well known and loved.
Flawless. I never liked any of the Batman movies but this is one of my all time favorite soundtracks (sans the Prince song of course!) Thanks for posting.
Some music just seems to be divinely inspired... And this coming from an atheist. Seriously, Elfman's music for Batman is the best for the character I've ever heard. It's awesome!!
I’d argue that Danny Elfman is best with using multiple notes and music theory. Whereas Hans Zimmer makes the most of one or few notes, which is impressive too. Zimmer is strong grounded emotions, Elfman is high powerful emotions. Both equally good in their own ways.
Hearing this score nostalgically brings me back to when I was a little kid and I had Batman on VHS - with the Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny commercial where Bugs erases Daffy with the pencil, and then the Diet Coke commercial with Alfred.
I've always came to the conclusion that Elfman had to have been a huge scholar of the master of gargantuan, Richard Wagner. Elfman is dark, dramatic and very heavy on the bottom-end. He, like many of his contemporaries, understood the power of dymanic principles.
3:39 i get a tear in my eyes every time, I see the scene in my mind. viki is in the Bat Cave and they have the convo where she say "why won't you let me in, why?" and he says "you got in". That scene is so vivid in my mind, more so than the rest of my childhood
I like your comment because it's witty but I'm not sure how much I agree! This is certainly more listenable on its own but if I wanted to listen to music on its own I'd still go elsewhere rather than turn to Elfman. The great thing about Zimmer's music is that combined along with the rest of the film it almost always makes a very satisfying and immersing whole. For the record, I don't think pop is getting better AT ALL!
I don't know...it is a perfect score. But, the Conan the Barbarian soundtrack was pretty epic, and lots of John Williams stuff. But, Danny Elfman knocked it out of the park. A true innovator.
That's Danny Elfman through and through. He has a very distinctive style.
Hands down, best Batman movies and music ever. Thanks, Danny Elfman and Tim Burton. Can't forget Steve Bartek and the musicians who played on this, also.

Shadow07Warrior1989 Zimmer’s was the one you gave a slight nod to, Elfman’s work sent chills down your spine when u heard it for the first time.
Đi hhyufuv. Đe😂 c&cg h 😂😂
This is, and ever will be, the true batman theme. It's a freaking classical masterpiece. Impeccable.
French horn and Chellos.
nobody could believe that the guy who played beetlejuice would nail his batman performance. Michael Keaton is the man
***** naijaboygangsta have you seen Birdman yet?
Ars Prosthetica Haven't seen it yet, but friends of mine say its brilliant and great acting by Keaton as usual :D. Can't wait to watch

Yes.. I love Dark Knight.. It sounds so modern and at the same time legendary..
Makes me want to build Legos
BATMAN WILL NEVER BE AS EPIC AND HEROIC AS UNDER THE IMAGINARY OF BURTON AND ELFMAN

Best soundtrack of Batman!
5:01 Just now i noticed that the Groose Theme from Zelda Skyward Sword looks so much this part
Keaton's Batman is the most Iconic live action Batman from my childhood.
Can't you just feel the darkness in this composition that captures the essence of Batman.
One of the most stirring and powerful tunes in movie history.
Seconded! Utterly Magnificent!!
This is the best version. Better than Zimmer
Best batman theme song ever
One of my favorite Batman movies!
the opening give me chills, every time.

Ultimate Batman Soundtrack!
"Up The Cathedral" has always been my personal favorite from Danny Elfman. Love the horns.
This is the true Batman sound. Hans Zimmer great but I love this.
This will always be The Batman Theme. Forever.

This is the definitive batman theme, thanks Elfman! 👍
I saw this movie when I was 8 yrs. old and the theme still gives me chills.
No one does a better Batman theme than Danny Elfman.
avevo 9 anni quando vidi questo film e ne rimasi folgorato ! veramente unico !
I feel the exact same way. As a kid in the theater seeing Batman for the first time as a real live man, I can't even describe the feeling!
Absolutely legendary theme by Elfman! One of the best hero themes ever, period!
this is so good... everytime i hear it I get goosebumps dizzy and nauseous... that´s how good it is.
These are the songs that made my childhood that made me believe that Batman really exists
Great movie, great music!
Hans Zimmer's theme from Batman is great, but Danny Elfman's theme is iconic!
it's unbelivable the good taste of the batman theme nothing is out of place.i think better than mozart or beethoven or any other
That’s a little out there but yes it’s a masterpiece of its own
🎉
The new ones are good, but this is the best Batman theme.
Tim Burton, Danny Elfman and Michael Keaton these are the only three names who created the real Batman
Not to mention these three inspired what would become the Animated series.

This music is FANTASTIC, the right magical sound for an all times Hero.

score of my childhood
This classic was Elfman?? He's about to become one of my favorites.
This batman vs superman.. epic man..
Bro... Gustav Holst called... he wants his suite back.
Some music just seems to be divinely inspired... And this coming from an atheist. Seriously, Elfman's music for Batman is the best for the character I've ever heard. It's awesome!!
this is the only batman song that truly gives image of batman in dark rainy city kicking ass ;D
They should use this for the new batman movies
This is just a great theme that brings back so many memories. GREAT theme.
I’d argue that Danny Elfman is best with using multiple notes and music theory. Whereas Hans Zimmer makes the most of one or few notes, which is impressive too. Zimmer is strong grounded emotions, Elfman is high powerful emotions. Both equally good in their own ways.
THIS IS BATMAN!
This theme is so heroic you can feel the presence of the dark night!

That would sound beautiful for the Batman films and the musical
That is the best theme by far I remember when they had it in Christmas and Mc Donalds promotions.
This music is just so remarkable that no other batman score will outshine this one.
brillent
Zimmers score is crazy good but theres something even more special about Elfman, classic Hollywood, good description !!
This is just mind blowing. Still gives me shivers.
Danny going to make something for me at my Funeral bro. On god.
This music would so suit batman the musical
Oh, very true. He was perfect! Both in appearance and how he performed. It was awesome!
Ahhhh shizzz YEAH *stands up, looks up, and puts sunglasses on*

When you realize Elfman is scoring Justice League...oh boy. One can imagine.
This is the best theme out of all of them.

Danny Elfman, no one else is like him!
If you would show Mozart the movie Batman, then this is the music he would have imagined that would fit Batman.
Love you Elfman!

they're both great composer, you can't make a comparison imo
Danny Elfman can only compose the music for Batman.... he gives it a good dark atmoshear to it
