    Andy, any plans to upgrade the power of the laser on the mk2? I don't understand why this is not on the priority list. It much easier than creati ng a new machine. I would bet most if , not all mk2 user would buy. Unfortunately, try to do anything small the router will take to long and not give the detail needed. A bigger laser would allow for faster cut time and deeper cuts. Hone stly i know you are working on a laser machine, but that is so congested with manufacturers i don't see how you will compete. Those with mk2 and alt mills want the laser so they don't need another machine. It the same concept as having different router bits or spindles. The laser is just another tool. Nice video, keep up the good work👍👍

      Unless you stack laser diodes together, there is a limit to how much a typical laser diode can output (around 7 to 10 watts). A typical CO2 laser ranges around 60 to 100 watts, and not getting into the specifics about wavelength absorption. It is more practical to jump to a dedicated CO2 laser for higher-power laser cutting especially as each diode is the highest cost part of the system typically. Ikenna will be putting more info out about that project, so keep an eye out for that.

    Here’s a funny story, Andy… Somehow I stumbled upon your videos on CNC machines. Funny thing is I never knew anything about this kind of stuff. However, I started watching listening to what you had to say about this amazing machine and then I was immediately intrigued! I’ve decided today that I am going to purchase the longmill and then add the laser madule later. If my spouse gets mad I’m gonna blame you! lol 😂

    Andy,
    Three Questions:
    1. Will there eventually be a kit we can buy to transform our MK2 into a MK2.5?
    2. In your production change on the 'Z' plate/motor mount, what changed so I can copy to allow the new shaft locking nuts to fit?
    3. Will I need to change anything to my new SLB (first batch) to match batch 2 and on?
    Thank You!

      1. Most of the parts that would make a MK2 to a MK2.5 is already sold on the site or can be purchased as the items become available. 2. Updates like the locking nuts are more to improve assembly but don't improve the performance of the machine. If you are running ok with the current parts, I would suggest using them. 3. As it stands Batch 1 and 2 are the same, with some minor tweaks on manufacturability side. If anything does come up, we will let everyone know.

    The main reason I ordered a super longboard was because of your plan to include an on board computer. I understa 19:14 nd why you changed that plan, but I’m still very interested in you continuing your work to co me up with a compatible device. I see that as a real advantage over a laptop in the dusty environment of any wood shaping tool.

      It is a work in progress. We'll have more updates later down the line.

    Andy, is it going to be possible to purchase a Super-Longboard with integrated stepper drivers?

    • @SienciLabs
      @SienciLabs  5 місяців тому

      The SuperLongBoard used for the LongMill already comes with the drivers integrated and can be purchased from our website. The SLB EXT version for the AltMill is different than the SLB and does not come with integrated drivers.

    Sitting on the fence about buying one. The 3-4 week wait has me hesitant.

      Yeah if I had known it was going to get pushed back to may instead of march I’d have bought a Blackbox. The updates on production were pretty lackluster…
      Super excited about the 36 square feet of paper weight I’ve got sitting in my garage

      The May deliveries for SLB are only for those that didn't purchase from the initial batch and instead bought on backorder, which we noted on the product page would have a May delivery. All SLBs not backordered will be finished getting packed up in the next week

      @@SienciLabs yeah i meant the initial batch. I was sort of considering that the middle of April shipments would take a week to get to the states which is essentially within a week of may if you don’t account for any other unseen delays

    • @SienciLabs
      @SienciLabs  5 місяців тому

      That's fair. We usually can only guarantee the day we ship out not the day it's delivered for the same reason SLBs were delayed to ship out which is that sometimes delivery companies can be unreliable or hold things up for unknown reasons. Hopefully you get your SLB in faster than a week because we've shipped whole CNCs down to Florida and Texas in 2-3 days before, but if you're still not happy with our delivery schedule and your SLB hasn't shipped yet then we're still happy to give you a full refund. Our aim is never to mislead people or try to sell them something that doesn't make sense for them to get

      @@SienciLabs thanks for the info. I’ve been in it since February so cancelling now wouldn’t be ideal haha. I was just hoping it was march delivery and I’m starting to itch.
      I understand the unforeseen. At least it’s not Bulkman3D who sent me a DOA product and hasn’t refunded me for 4 months! Lesson learned on the Chinese stuff but I guess that’s what CC disputes are for.
      The upgrades you guys have done will ultimately be worth the wait
