One Year as a Booktuber/12.21.2024 Weekly Reading Wrap up

- In this video I talk about my first year as a booktuber. I talk about why I started. Then I talk about what my initial expectations were, assess where I am now, and talk about what I plan to do going forward. I solicited questions. I answer the questions people submitted. I also do my wrap-up for the week of Dec 15 thru Dec 21.
Questions that were submitted:
1. From Justin @TriumphalReads. My question would be what do you look for the most when choosing and reading nonfiction books?
2. From Reney @BeyondBooks-wt5il I don't think you ever mentioned what you did for a living? Also, we know you make supercute Woobles, but how did you get into it? What is your favorite one you ever made? Also, I notice you read a lot of different genres, what would be your favorite? Are you ready to name a Favorite Book of 2025?
3. From Pat @BookChatWithPat8668. You've done some great videos about your music/concert history. Do you like to read about music or about the bands that you have followed, and if so, do you have any favorite music-related books that you can recommend? What inspired or influenced you to start your channel? With regard to the wonderful Woobles that you show, how did you learn to crochet? Do you do other crafts as well?
4. From Philip Hall @apoetreadstowrite. My original motivation for entering BookTube, as a creator, was to find a replacement for attending Book Festivals (my publisher wanted me to still fulfil my role in the marketing & promotion of my books), but I have been bowled over by the sense of community. What were your motivations for setting up your own BookTube channel? And have they changed?
5. From Marilyn @MarilynMayaMendoza. Tell us more about your background and yourself is my question even though it’s a general one

Congratulations on the 1 year anniversary, Stuart, I love your work: every video spotlights a glorious mixed bag of reading treats, books that are often new to me, as well as those gorgeous wobbles & nod to the confessional poetic. I really look forward to your videos, & to spending time with you. You shine in every video as a generous, kind gem.
Thanks Philip. I always appreciate your supportive, positive comments.
Huge congrats on one year! ❤
Thanks Nicole
Congratulations on one year, Stuart! Thanks for answering my questions. I guessed that you probably did something detailed and technical. I've talked a little on my channel about mental health issues I've had, so I can definitely understand where you're coming from as far as that's concerned. Crafts help, for sure! Being part of a supportive community is helpful as well.
Thanks Reney. You're welcome. Thanks for submitting your questions. I enjoyed answering them. It does help being part of this supportive community
Congratulations on reaching this one-year milestone, Stuart! I really enjoyed hearing about your BookTube adventure, its origins and progress over the past year. I also enjoyed hearing your responses to viewers' questions, and thank you for answering my specific questions as well. I appreciate your book recommendations about music and musicians/bands that you have followed. Thank you, too, for telling us about your career and work history and also about some of your personal struggles as well. You have been very open in this video, and I appreciate your candor. Once again, congratulations on your one-year anniversary. I'm so glad that you're here and that we've become friends in the past year.
Thanks Pat. I'm glad you enjoyed hearing my responses. You're welcome. Thanks for submitting your questions. I enjoyed answering them. You're welcome. I try to be open about my struggles and experiences. I'm really glad we became friends. You are an amazing, supportive person.
@@stuartgriffin1001 Thank you, my friend.
All the tec stuff scares me, so I've quickly settled into a routine, & got stuck. I always feel like I should be doing more with video creation & editing, but lack the bold, experimental spirit. It will be interesting to see what you do over the next year. Yes, I agree, I love comments on my videos, it's so special. And, like you, I never commented on the videos I watched before I became a creator. I always 'liked' every video I watched, but felt too socially awkward to comment. Now, I always comment, I know how special it is to most video creators. Spread sheets & manuals are two texts I'll never be capable of reading, I love how different we all are from one another, diversity is such a blessing. Thanks for a wonderful celebration of your first year on BookTube, & I really look forward to your second. Congratulations, Stuart!
I've settled into a routine too. It is easy to do. It is great we both realized how important it is to comment on other people's videos. Diversity is a blessing. I wish it wasn't such a dirty word to many in the US. You're welcome, Philip. Thank you for always commenting and your kind, supportive words.
@@stuartgriffin1001: You are a gem, Stuart. Thanks for a great year of BookTube.
Hi Stuart, Thank you for sharing your story with the community. I’m from the East Coast too, NYC. Aloha
Hi Marilyn. You're welcome. You have lived in some cool places. Aloha
Congratulations on the year. I think that anyone who still thinks they’re an architect just hasn’t dug enough to realise they’re an archeologist 😊
Thanks Gavin. Very true. We are archeologists. A lesson creating videos has driven home for me
Stuart congratulations on your first anniversary on UA-cam and on hitting 200 subs! Thanks for sharing your journey here on UA-cam and your work history. I love your videos, when I watch them I feel like I'm spending time with a good friend. You are such a kind soul, thank you so very much for your hard work, for being so generous with your time and knowledge.
Thanks Milena. You're welcome. When we converse, I feel like I'm spending time with a good friend. You're welcome. Thank you for your kind words.
Hi Stuart- congratulations on 1 year 🎂 great to hear your thoughts and insights about being a book tuber 👍👍👍
Thanks Elaine. I'm glad you enjoyed hearing my thoughts and insights.
congratulations on one year anniversary. to be honest, before knowing you (i know we haven’t met in real life, i hope i don’t offend you by saying that) i never comment on other people videos. Now i always comment and leave a thought.
I’m excited to see how your channel will be in the next year. And I agree with what you said. I think at first we all expect more, like a lot from the count view or subscribers. But from time to time, even though we have a small community, things have exceeded our expectations just from the experience of getting to talk to people in the cmt.
I look forward for more videos to come and wish you a (early) happy new year 🎉
Thanks Anh. You didn't offend me. I think people can become great friends online. I'm really happy you are always commenting on other people's videos. I always appreciate your comments on my videos.
Very good points. I am really happy with my community.
Thank you. I hope you have a happy new year too
