Why Catalina should be your first bike packing trip

The gravel pack goes out to Catalina and camps at Parsons landing. It is an ideal first bikepacking trip due to the fact that there are easy stops every 10 miles or so. The first is airport in the sky where you can get snacks drinks or something more substantial to eat. Next is 2 harbors with a small but robust store and offers pretty amazing pizza. Next is Parsons and you can pay to have them drop off water and wood in a locker so you don’t have to pack that in they also have toilets there. On the return we choose to go the harder more dirt filled away and were reward with some challenging climbs but also views of the only part of the island that is largely untouched.
