Yesss would LOVE a podcast episode on the topic of comparison to where others are in life (having kids, marriage, jobs) ….that would be a good episode

i'm genuinely struggling with the life stage talk lately so it was so nice to hear you talk about it. Turning 28 this year, living in canada where the cost of living and housing is just unlivable makes me feel no hope for my future. No career. In a long distance relationship so the long term feels far away. But I really just have had to take life less serious.

Move here to the states! We have a different mindset here, so you’ll have to adjust culturally - but people move here for a reason. The lifestyle is worth it (cheap, good jobs, beautiful country, nice people). I’m sorry about your long distance relationship - that sounds tough 😭

I think you touched the marriage subject in a nice way. I don't want kids nor to get married in the next few years but I'm in a long term relationship. I have friends that already got married and have kids and I just ignore the "when are you gonna do it" question

Totally relate to the topic of comparison! And also, everyone’s journey looks different! I struggle a lot because so many people around in my life are getting engaged, married and having babies, and I see myself so far away from that life, that it sometimes makes me question myself about my own journey. But like I said, everyone’s paths are different

I appreciate the advice on enjoying your life path. I struggle with comparing myself to others so much. It is very easy for me to see others getting engaged/married and wish that I was that at that point. I have to kind of do a reality check every once in a while and remind myself that my boyfriend is in Pharmacy school and I am working to get into graduate school and we are just not at that stage of life, but we will get there eventually. I appreciate the advice of making friends in similar stages of life to you. It is much easier to commensurate with others going through the same thing as you.

I was definitely asked “are you okay?” [from the Lyft driver ] when I told him I’m traveling to be in my friend’s wedding. I agree, my life path is different and I can be happy for my friend without feeling like I’m “behind”. I thought about all of the stress she was under and money they were spending and that alone made me think, “YEA I can wait lol”

I would love the podcast ab different phases!! Also felt the “sigh or relief” when you sign off on the weekend. On Monday morning I walked back into the office and thought about how Friday turned into Monday and my thought was “it just keeps happening” 🤣
Ps if we see a video title next week that says “date night Valentine’s Day grwm” I’m gonna scream

What's happening to you happened to me when I was your age....all of a sudden mid 20's hit and it seemed like everyoneeee was engaged, getting married, and pregnant. I started to feel so behind and I don't want say jealous because I wasn't....but just felt like I was weird because those weren't my goals at that point and I didn't feel ready for those big life moments to happen in mid-20's. I was single focusing on trying to get my work life started and while I got lonely sometimes...I just wasn't lucky to have met someone at the same time. It's a big deal to decide who to marry and have kids with and I just hadn't met that person. Honestly I don't even feel like I truly even knew myself until I was about 28 years old....that's when I just felt more confident in who I was and knowing what I wanted in my future and the person I would want to be with one day. I'm 36 now and never married/no kids (seems like I'm the only one of my friends still here....) but I'm okay with that. I'm in a relationship with someone I've been friends with for years so it was worth the wait to fall in love with my best friend who like me...he also hasn't been married/no kids either. Society can put a lot of pressure on women in particular even in 2022 to settle down, marry, and pop out kids, but there's still time to do that. Better to be sure of it and wait for the right person and timing for you. We're not all the same and that's okay.

As someone who got married at 25, and divorced at 36, my advise is to live your life in your 20s and experience everything you can, even just living with your significant other. Don’t worry about getting married. For some, it ain’t all that’s it’s cracked up to be. And LOVE Olivia in Xanadu in your locker. Now I’m dating myself. LOL.

My path to engagement and marriage came later in life. I was 26 when I met my husband 29 when we got married and 30 when we had our first son. I would say in my early 20s I definitely was eager to be in that phase but honestly now looking back I’m so grateful for the time I had alone.

That’s not later life…it’s sad that people think you HAVE to be married in your 20’s.

Love that brown jacket ! Also love the taupe zip up top ! Well said in regards to your two best friends getting engaged, when the right person comes into your life and you say to yourself I think I see a future with this person then you’ll know ! ( maybe 🤔) lol In the meantime enjoy and make every day a good one 💐 ps the last jacket you had on lol 😆

When my brother got married and they had kids I was constantly getting asked about marriage and kids to the point where I started to feel like I was never going to be enough just being me. I've never cared about dating, never even thought about it and had no desire to get married and people just acted like that was WRONG- even though to me it was totally normal and just who I was. I never got bothered about it until people kept bringing it up. I felt so much anxiety over always getting compared to everyone else, which I had never experienced before. I never used to care what people thought! (A little unrelated, but I discovered the term aromantic asexual and it was like my whole life made sense. I'm not attracted to men or women romantically or sexually.) It's fucked up that it's 2022 and people are still weirded out that a woman can be happy and support themselves on their own. The worst thing one can do IMO is blindly date around and rush into a relationship just because of pressure to get married and have kids.
