The sun doesn't set until past 7:30 in the evening so running a six race with even three hours of darkness would be impractical from a fan attendance standpoint( people need to be at work on Monday morning). The Middle East races run in the dark because the races are subsidized by the governments so they literally don't care about whether there are people in the stands or not. COTA is a fully privately enterprise facility. They can't run the race later in the year because the fall is HUGE college ( ESPECIALLY in Texas) and NFL football season, in the US, which would drop attendance and TV/streaming ratings.
I have a 2016 gt with pp1. While the engine and chassis are durable. The body is decidedly not. Galvanic corrosion required that the hood be replaced after about 6 years. This current year at 9 yrs the door latches failed. The door to the gas tank needs to be fixed. So I would add about an additional 2k to the price of ownership. I use the car for spirted driving, autocross and track days. I would not change the car for anything. I still love it.

Try watching the behaviour of the Peugeots to the Audis at the 2011 Le mans. Frank Montagny and Marc Gene in particular. You can see it in the second Truth in 24 film, which I highly recommend

It's not you, it the broadcast rights. The rap up in cable is something fierce for the US (& Canada), if the WEC can navigate that... their will be more viewers. IMSA took a risk this year for the International broadcast, they do UA-cam Live as well as their own site. It's been going well from what I heard.
