Hi Nelio, thanks! We really enjoyed making this one -a special place for sure! In next weeks episodes we will finally be making our way to the Nordkapp. Thanks for joining our journey Sean and Emily
What a great trip you guys are having. Your putting out some fantastic footage. Thank you. Will have to get up to the Lofoton Islands. They look class. Enjoy ur trip.
I too am hooked your motorbike adventure through Northern Europe. It’s relaxing watching and listening you both talk and share by your excitement. I like the ‘intermission’ music you have chosen - has a real Scandinavian vibe.
Hi Darren, thanks for your comment and really glad you like the series. Also really happy you like the Music -sometimes choosing the Music takes longer than the ride lol Thanks again Sean and Emily
Hi Brian, yeah an incredible place! Everyday we get blown away by the beauty of this country and the incredible rides day in day out! Thanks for your kind words of encouragement and we are really glad you have been enjoying the videos! Sean and Emily
Hello! I subscribed a while back but this is the first time I have commented, just to say what amazing videos! Always interesting and informative and a nice balance of (great) camera work, drone footage and music. I really look forward to watching them! I have never been out of the UK on a motorcycle, as I now have a BMW1250RT I am thinking of visiting the Picos de Europa in Spain. Regards Dennis. 😀
Hi Dennis, thanks so much for commenting -it’s really nice to hear from you 😊. We are glad to hear you enjoy the videos and feedback on the format is appreciated. Congratulations on the RT! We haven’t ridden that one yet but with that engine and the comfortable riding position it’s perfect for touring. Spain would a great trip, we did a tour of Spain Portugal and Gibraltar early this year (perhaps you’ve seen already). Thanks again for your kind words of encouragement and we hope to hear from you again. Sean and Emily Heading South; ua-cam.com/play/PLl_mRzVHVQ0yRXu9qeZuZWnHoS1KQV7_8.html&si=_JtGX09tgVPSHP1o
The build up area of Å is pronounced O(h) like in the english word town (approx) not A. The wooden racks are indeed used to dry fish on, north atlantic cod mostly. No Lofoten does not get very cold compared to inland Norway. Coastal climate versus inland climate - read up on that guys. And the most important thing is the Gulf stream coming from the mexican gulf bringing temperated seawater along the coast - making it relatively temperated compared to similar latitudes. By all means - it can get minus 10-15 degrees, but inland Norway easily gets minus 30-40 degrees in comparison. Have a great trip! Reagards from a RTW motorbike traveller and originally from Lofoten.😊
Hi Kurt, Yeah we realized that after we had left (see the first comment) but thanks or the tip. -10 and -15 is pretty cold! dread to think what -40 feels like! Experienced -30 (with wind chill) in Canada once snowboarding and my eye brows froze up quickly lol. What a wonderful place to grow up! AS a RTW traveler which places on your travels have impressed you? Sean and Emily
@@SeanandEmily My favorite country of all 55 I visited was Indonesia. That country is so weird (in a positive way) and so totally different than any western country that it easily became my favorite. Of course south American countries are great to travel through, Bolivia and Peru especially but Brasil, Argentina, Chile, Equador and Colombia not far behind. Honorably mentions: Romania, Kyrgizstan, Laos and New Zealand PS - I didt go to Africa.
Thanks, totally understand that -the more we travel the more we want to go to places where everything is different in weird and wonderful ways. Now we have visited all of the European countries we are starting to think further afield. The route through South America looks spectacular! Thanks for sharing! Sean and Emily
The wooden things (hjell) you mentioned are indeed for drying fish. The fish are hung up for several months to dry (though not at the time you visited). Apparently seagulls don't have the toe at the back of their feet so they can't balance on the wooden poles and eat the fish. See you in the next one!
Hi both, enjoyed your first leg of the Lofoton islands, even in such inclement weather they are still stunning, and one of the things that impresses me Sean is the easy pace you set so you can safely take in the scenery, to many people flash by and notice very little. Thank you.
Hi Stephen, really glad to hear you enjoyed it and thanks for letting us know. Yeah regardless of the weather the scenery is stunning. Thanks, we agree -didn’t ride all this way to not see anything and get a big speeding fine😁 Thanks again Sean and Emily
Hi Beans! Thank you so much for your encouraging words! -that really means a lot to us. Hehe 10/10 for listening no railing will hold us back 😁 I think you’ve been one of our long time subscribers -with us from the start so big thanks for your support! Have a great weekend and the next episode is out tomorrow! Sean and Emily
Didn't make it that far north on my Norway ride. Thanks for showing what I missed. Great balance of on the bike & drone shots. Hope for sunny skies some day. Did my trip on a Yamaha 900 Diversion some 23 years ago.
Hi Bill, thanks for your comment and we are glad you enjoyed it! Always hoping for sunny skies 😁. I think I actually had a model of the Diversion (collected a bi weekly magazine). We still have a fair distance north to go, glad to have you along for the trip. Sean and Emily
Hi Tom, Thanks very much -great to hear you are enjoying the series. We can't recommend Norway enough it's a magical place. Yeah the weather could have been better at times but we managed to stay dry and the dry weather is on it's way =) Sean and Emily
It's funny whilst on the trip we didn't think that it rained so much, but now looking at the footage we see that it did lol -just shows how much of a good time we had even in the rain =), Next one out in about an hour!
Thanks for another wonderful episode of my gorgeous country..! ( btw..It took me a while to realize you were in Lofoten, as it sounded like you said Loften Islands.. The second O is not silent 😅 )
You’re welcome-glad you enjoyed it 😊 I think there needs to be someone to greet visitors with a ‘welcome to the Lof-o-ten’ islands to be sure we hear it correctly 😁 -we will put your name forward for the first shift 😉 You truly do live in a gorgeous country! -already want to go back 😊 Sean and Emily
Thanks again for a wonderful video. Info about climate. Lofoten is not particularly cold in the winter, the average temperature in January is 0 degrees celsius, being similar to Denmark. (Though less daylight) Winter temperatures in Norway are determined by distance from the ocean and altitude. The inland areas of southern Norway are colder than by the ocean north of the Arctic circle. The winter temperature all along the Norwegian coastline is moderated by the ocean current from the Gulf of Mexico.
Hi Hallvard, thanks for watching the Lofoton island videos, these are some of our favorites =) That's surprising but understandable now you mention why. That's interesting to know, here in Switzerland it's obviously the same with altitude but as we have no oceans we never really thought about the effect that has on temperatures.
