What they are saying is when your using a software to mix with it gives you the ability to pre cue were ever on songs like for example at the start of a breaks and drops and also it gives you a visual of the song threw a almost like wave form so he can practically see the song as he is playing witch makes head phones almost useless

THEINFAMOUS1011 Statik has been deejaying since the late 90's, came up in the era when it was just "real vinyl" so yes, he is ill on any format. It's just easier to carry a laptop than crates and crates of vinyl, so most people made some sort of switch to digital.
