    There was a match in march 2012, Miami vs Lakers. Pau was played so good in 1st quarter he was just dominating Bosh and if they double team he passing so like miami has no answer for him. After the 2nd quarter LeBron just start guarding Pau, (there is a video in youtube) he just collapsed him on defense Pau literally didnt do ANYTHING in rest of the game. But the real scary thing is coming now the week after that match they played against Bucks so Lebron just did same thing to Monta Ellis. So basically this dude just locked up one of the most explosive pg's in league and a dude with one of the best post moves in league in same week. In his Miami years LeBron was just doing whatever-whenever the team needs on defense. This is why i never saw anything like LeBron's defense, yes there are some dudes like Simmons-Giannis who can defend 1-5 but believe me they not even close to prime LeBron. Some guys calls me crazy and ignorant basketball watcher but i aint care. LeBron is top 5 defender in NBA history.

      Lies. Actual advance defense stats for this year: LBJ Defensive rating 49th, Defensive win share 8th, DBPM 5th. Marc Gasol: DRtg 5th, D W/S 2nd, DBPM 1st. It was never close. Marc Gasol deserved it and won it.

    • @sportstalkonly1442
      @sportstalkonly1442 4 місяці тому +1

      @awesomereviews1561 In 2013 DPOY was voted on by the media and all defensive teams were voted by coaches. It can also be said that this is why lebron hasn’t made an all defensive team since 2013. Gasol led lebron in bpg, dws, dbpm, and defensive rating. The problem is though you cannot compare defensive ratings across teams accurately. Also gasol on the grizzlies had Tony Allen and Mike Conley, two guys that were top 10 in dbpm. And both made an all defensive team. In fact Tony Allen made all defensive first team and was voted first above lebron by one point. Mike Conley was ranked 3rd in steals and made all defensive 2nd team. Both of them had more votes than gasol, who finished 3rd on his team and that has never happened to a dpoy in nba history. Gasol also got to play more time with better defenders in comparison to lebron. But moving on Gasol wasn’t even voted as the best player at his position. Or second best. Or even third best. Joakim Noah and Tyson chandler were tied for votes, and both made 1st team. Gasol was 2nd team but the 3rd best at his position. And in the history of the nba no DPOY ever finished 3rd at their position. But it actually gets a little worse than that. Gasol didn’t finish third at his position. He actually finished 4th at his position. He had 12 votes and Larry Sanders got 16 votes. Gasol was considered by coaches as the third best defender on his team and the fourth best defender at his position. He only had 5 first team all defensive votes and 2 second team votes by the coaches. While lebron had the same amount of first team votes as Tony Allen at 25 votes and he had two second team all defense votes. The coaches actually understood that lebron’s role on defense was actually a lot more critical than gasol’s. Lebron was asked to effectively guard 1-5. And no he wasn’t stopping centers but he was asked to do more than any other player in the nba on the defensive end and his degree of difficulty was harder than gasol. He also faced more defensive sets than gasol as well. He guarded 1-4 more effectively than anyone in the nba and he did it with less defensive help than gasol.

    • @sportstalkonly1442
      @sportstalkonly1442 4 місяці тому

      @awesomereviews1561 if u wanna say stats then he deserved it in 2012. in 2012 lebron had better defensive stats than Tyson chandler and he still didn’t win the dpoy. Chandler was 64th in dws, lebron was 2nd. Chandler was 113th in dbpm, lebron was 1st. Chandler was 153 in drtg, lebron was 21st. Lebron averaged 6.4 defensive rebounds, chandler averaged 6.5, lebron had a total of 398 to chandler’s 400. Defensive rebounds per game lebron was ranked 18th, chandler was ranked 17th. Total defensive rebounds lebron was ranked 17th while chandler was ranked 16th. Steals per game lebron averaged 1.9 steals, to Chandler’s 0.9. Total steals lebron had 115 to 56, and ranked 3rd in steals per game while chandler ranked 61st. Total steals lebron ranked 4th while chandler ranked 77th . Lebron was also voted for 1st team all defense and received the most votes at 53 for 1st team all defense. While chandler made 2nd team all defense and received 36 total all defensive votes by the coaches. And to tie it all together the miami heat ranked 2nd in team defense while the Knicks ranked 7th. So even looking at a year where lebron clearly beat the man that was voted as dpoy in nearly every metric, he still did not win the award. By using this logic lebron at least deserved it in 2012

It seemed mainly like team defensive plays like blocks and steals, not sayin Marc Gasol locked up any bigs either but wonder what their difference was when guarding all star level players bc Gasol avg 2 blocks a game and 1 steal and Bron avg 2 steals a game and 1 block so that’s even but then I imagine Bron locking up more guys in position 1-5 and locking them up compared to Marc Gasol and if that’s the case Bron was def robbed

    I know I would get a lot of hate from this, but as much as Lebron deserved it that year, Marc deserved it more and the NBA got it right. I admit, Lebron was so high this year, however let's not just focus on the highlights. Marc Gasol had the highest Defensive Win Shares of all the candidates. Even Serge Ibaka that year had a higher defensive win share than Lebron.
    Now why did I refer to defensive win shares? Coz that stat does not base itself on what position you play. If we only refer to blocks, then surely centers and big men will have higher averages, whereas if we refer to steals, wings get the edge.
    But aside from Defensive Win Shares, Marc Gasol also had the stats (Blocks, steals and rebounds) to back it up.
    I get it, we all love Lebron, and yes he deserves it but to say that Marc didn't is just pure hating. Also I think it's because Marc is not flashy, heck even Deandre Jordan was voted first team over Marc (which is funny btw), but it's because Deandre is more flashy than Marc.
