  • Capital Radio's Your Mother Wouldn't Like It by Nicky Horne. The program included a phone-in and Bowie's favourite records. Bowie arrived at Capital's Euston Tower through the front door, having to run the gauntlet of about seventy fans. The five assigned policemen and three bodyguards were lost in the tussle of trying to get Bowie safely inside. Nicky Horne's opening remark to Bowie: 'Welcome David, glad to see you've got in without losing too much hair!'
The interview was scattered with songs chosen by Bowie and included Baby's on Fire by Brian Eno, Shapes of Things by The Yardbirds, The Batman Theme by Link Wray, China Girl by Iggy and White Light/White Heat by The Velvet Underground.

This is so good to hear in 2024. Radio has changed so much over the years, thank you for going back in time and of course it’s all about David Bowie. Thanks again, DB is so human and charming. Love him forever.

Agreed. Sounded like he took some *Tylenol* then drank 3 cups of *Java* just before they turned on the Phone Lines. Is it just me, or does anyone else remember this combo feeling was exactly how the good *cocaine* was back then? - - #Halston

Great to hear this again i remember getting a tip off that Bowie was going to be on that night and myself and another Bowie obsessed mate went down to capital and the weather was so bad poured of rain all night. Anyway that wasn't going to stop us and i suppose that when Bowie's car pulled up there was around 20-30 fans that had gathered but of course he was quickly ushered in. Just a point about the beginning of the interview when Nicky Horne said i am glad to see you didn't lose too much hair (or words to that effect) and what he meant was in the crush to get Bowie into the building this girl just ran and launched herself on top of the crowd and grabbed a handful of Bowie's hair and most likely pulled some out which I'm sure must of hurt and she got a whole load of grief from other fans about it. Anyway as true Bowie fans me and my mate who i went with stayed outside in the car and listened to the show on the radio trying to hopefully get a glimpse when he left the building but unfortunately he couldn't risk this girl pulling anymore hair out and they quickly ushered him out the back door! Didn't blame him one bit either. Anyone like us that has followed Bowie around Europe must have no end of stories and glad to say mostly good! 😂😂This was a great interview as i think David was in a much better place and Nicky Horne was good at his job so you could tell. Let's just say much better than when David was on the Russell Harty show a few years before! ⚡⚡⚡
