fun fact about the button placement: female garments usually have the buttons on the left and the holes on the right while male garments usually have it the other way around for which there are several theories. the first is that most people are right handed and men had their sword on their left side and draw it with their right hand. in order to not get stuck in the buttons the button had to be on the right side the second theory is, that rich women didn't dress themselves but were dressed by their maids who were also mostly right handed. the buttons for female garments were moved to the left so it'd be easier for the maids to close the garments. (I am not a historian or textile expert, this is simply what i was told, if you have more insight pls correct me or share other theories :) love!)
I think that getting a double knitted button band to look neat takes quite some effort ^^ For me it really helps to make the stitches in the edge super tight.... then they are a bit less wonky xD
