    Yes mode switch, must have been timred properly. Maybe when you were saying in was indexed in. I have seen on a sony vcr there are timung marks to get properly lined up.

      yea no marks, just needed to be cleaned, this switch had little pegs that lined up with little holes so you could not install it wrong

    I got a funai dcvr-5000 that's actually the same design (exact same mech) . Cleaned the mode switch, reworked

    I thought your suppose to remember where the switch was set when you take it out and when you return it you need to fit it in the exact same position

    I have the same one but mine doesn't eat the tapes it just cuts on an off an the DVD player has a fuzzy thing that pops on an off

    @6:37 I actually tried that and it actually solved 25% of the problems. It no longer eats tapes and it plays the tape for a few seconds. Rewinding still doesn’t work but fast forward worked until it stopped for some reason and it could play the tape without any problems until I fast forwarded it. It did attempt to eat my test tape when I tried to rewind it the first time but it hasn’t after that.
    Edit: Those other problems seem only to be with the tape I was testing with. It worked without any issues with a different tape.

      Might be a belt. Either clean it or replace it, if you can find any.

    I'm interested to know if the DVD side still works. When you disconnected it, you risk static electricity damaging the chips, usually, on the right side, where there are 2 ribbon connectors.

    I was impatient so I just Took The cover off the top took my air compressor and sprayed some air in it beat the shit out of the bottom now it works like a champ
