For an old guy that grew up in the world of leaf spring cars and trucks. Coils and links are the bomb. Other than scale look. I cant imagine going backwards in time. Keep the coils and links save the leaf springs for a trailer project. Just my thoughts on suspension . My main reason for not buying a Rc4wd Toyota truck is leaf springs.
Agreed. The way I look at these projects is…what would it have really been on the daily. No one in 1988 would be driving around on coils. They’d have tires, maybe wheels, some do dads here n there. I had winch and 33’s on my 95 Sahara. Roof rack. That’s about it. If I could have afforded coils I’d be driving another vehicle than my wrangler. With that said, I’ll wait for a kit. I’m a lazy mofo. Great vid.
Broke my panhard bar, can't find a replacement or known SOA mount, so leaf sprung it becomes. None of my other RCs have leaves, so I'll enjoy the added difficulty
For steering I recommend you to use the ball end on the shocks of the Jimny so it kinda will be a simple spacer and mount the servo on the masigan from the bottom it will prevent the leafs to rub against the steering link
If I read it correctly in an article , it had said they where going to be making e a leaf spring conversion for this but I haven’t seen anything else on it but I would definitely do the switch just because the YJ was a leafer. Nice job with your conversion and if they don’t come out with one this is a great help! Thanks! 👍
This idea occurred to me the other day when I saw the Mashigan for the first time, looked at my 1:6 Jimny and thought hmmmm... I am so glad to see that you were able to complete the swap before I made my own attempt. : ) My Jeep arrives tomorrow, so I will be following in your footsteps. Thanks for sharing your trail blazing efforts!
Did you put the link suspension back onto the Jimmy? I have the Mashigan and have already changed out the servo, esc for the hobbywing 80a (gets rid of motor whine at low speed and better drag brakes) and put in a 5 slot Holmes hobby 15 turn motor. The only driver I could find to fit nicely was the small version of Barbie - and with a little surgery she fits perfectly and steers the car too! I have a Jimmy ordered. Great video by the way!
I did build the Jimny as a linked rig from the leftover parts. There were some body clearance issues but it worked out ok. I’m currently using the RC Addict 3D printed figure as my driver. Thanks for watching!
@@ateaserc thanks for the quick and helpful response. I might try and copy the Jimmy set up first - with eBay leaf springs and 3d parts first. But very good to know you can swap both ways! Loving my Mashigan - best new RC for years (I actually prefer this to the Tamiya 3 speeds, TRX4 and SCX10 at the moment if I’m honest - scale interior is amazing and my real car is a Wrangler TJ so I am very biased!). So sad they stopped selling almost as soon as they came out!
@@ateaserc cheers. I think your vid has given me enough clues to try to develop a conversion kit - using cheap D90 type leaf springs and 3D parts that I can design. I’ll post a video if I succeed!
Nicely done! This Mashigan is such a GREAT looking truck. However, I really wish they would've made it actually around a 1/10 size, as opposed to saying it's a 1/10 when it's a 1/7 or so. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the next release is a legit 1/10 with their awesome level of detail! If they do that, which everyone has been begging for, they'll take over. 😁
@@ateaserc it drives really well, for sure. I had fun running it. I was just hoping for a proper 1/10, which would've been similar to the Tamiya YJ body. They've asked hobbyists, many of us in the industry, and we all begged for a proper 1/10 scale. So, when this was labeled a 1/10 and then I saw it in person to see the actual size of about 1/7, it was a bummer for me. I'm hoping they get us a legit 1/10 sooner than later, though, and am expecting they will. 🤞
I just ordered a brand new one actually today. $329 USA dollars from a company in China BUT they have warehouses in the USA and Europe. Plus it's paypal buying so I'm guaranteed my truck or my money back
Nice video and awesome collection you have there!

realism to a body style has a place within the hobby. This wasn’t done for performance by any stretch of the imagination.

P.s. I also like how you keep and display your rigs
No idea when they will do it.
Now I really want Mashigan.
You can put a small pivot ball to give more room on your steering 👍
Yep, I took ones out of the shocks from the Jimny when I run the Jimny fully leafs suspensions. It adds more height and fits perfectly with the screw
👌😎👍now that’s how a yj is supposed to look in the first place! Well done sir!🫡👍

great job. looks sooo good, i just picked up a mashigan. ill work on elc first and hopfully by then there will be a fms leaf kit.
It is the mashupagan now!! It does look a ton better sitting on the leaf springs!!
Well played good Sir.
Just subbed your channel great content
@@rcboys619 thank you!
Great vid bud
That’s what I done to my Jimny too. Lol. For my mashigan.
Great how to vid. We are gonna have to do a trail comparison on the linked vs leaf Mashigan
We should totally do that!
*Perfect*
Great info, thanks! Off topic: any idea what the 4 bungs on the tail gate & the one on the rear body panel are for?
I’ll look into it!
Im guessing you are talking about what are spare tire bumpers on a 1:1

do you think this would work on the 1/6th jeep willys?
No idea, anything is possible tho

Learning is growing for FMS. They have come a long way in a short time already. I kinda like the way the larger rigs move too, reminds me of the scx6.

*Spoiler alert from one month into the future:* The video doesn't become obsolete. :-)
Lol, had I only known
Did you use the same lift blocks except flip the axle.
Same lift blocks, I did move the front axle one pin forward when I did the flip to align the tire better in the front opening.
@@ateaserc nice. It’s neat to me because the flip is how I’ve done the 1:1s. Lol
Sad part is the Mashigan is already unavailable.
