One possible use for "My Room Mode" is having the air-conditioning on when you leave the family pet in the car as you shop or eat at a place with a charge point.
@@TerryFT86 - This won't work! The "My Room" Mode only works when the car's systems are powered up, and that can only happen if the key fob is in the vehicle. Hi Jeff, thanks for your videos. Very informative and I get your sense of humor. :) Quick question, how do you open the trunk liftgate in the Room mode when you're in the trunk besides using the button all the way up by the steering column? Does the key FOB work? Or you have to get out using the rear psgr doors?
The RAV4 Prime seems to have some type of program to determine how much range you have based on your driving style. When I drive on the freeway or drive stepping on the brakes and gas all the time, I get 41 mile range on a full charge. When I drive 25 mph and gently stop and accelerate (not super slow to be annoying), I get 45 mile range.
All Toyota hybrid systems learn your style based on fuel economy from past tanks and other factors. You get more out of your gas the more consistent you drive
45 miles will cover most of my daily trips. Since I'll rarely be using gasoline I would suggest putting STA-BIL gasoline additive into the tank to keep it from going bad.
So if you can’t plug in , can you leave the car running on hybrid traction battery and have access to heat / ac - how long will it run if you tell it to not turn car off after 1 hr
I would like to know if the RAV4 Prime, remote connect app, is functioning properly and allowing you to control "Charge Management" and "climate Settings" remotely from your phone!! (because they took this feature away from the Prius Prime 2020).
I wanted to buy. But after I hear that no quick charger option (about 20min etc) in the electric charger station, I give up to buy Rav4 Plug in Hybrid. No body dont talk about that. But I think absent to quick charge option is biggest problem. Most of the people don't want to wait 2.5 hour in overseas countries and 5 hours in Japan. It is not best. Mitsubishi eclipse cross Phev has quick charger option and 10000 dolar cheaper than rav4 phev.
Thanks for the video, Jeff. Perhaps you can answer a question that has been bugging me. I have sleep apnea and require a CPAP machine which I run off of the 12V battery. My question revolves around how the 12V battery gets its charge. What happens if I plug in, enter room mode and the EV Battery gets to a full charge. Will the 12V battery eventually run down and shut off my CPAP? In a similar vein, what if I do not have electricity available, so I use Ready Mode instead, but I start the night with a full EV battery so that the engine does not have to cycle for long enough that the 12v battery gets drained? The answers I get to these questions always seem to miss the target. I am beginning to suspect that the only way I can camp in my Rav4 Prime is to use the Ready mode exclusively, and only then if the EV battery is low on charge.
What happens if there is a power failure whilst charging. Does it auto continue or charge slower or does it require unplug and plug in again...handshake?
Will the Rav4 prime kick the engine on to recharge the battery if you're using to much power running the AC system while plugged into the charging outlet?
