For the longest time, this was the top result if you search "actually good music" in youtube. Now it's some justin bieber video that contains the phrase "actually good music." This still places second.
It's funny because this comment is 5 years old now, and I remember when you first posted it. And agreeing in my mind, "yep, years ago this was a highly suggested video". Just found it again in my saved videos half a decade later, and couldn't remember what it sounded like by the name, and the second it started I sang every word. This is always a good song.
The best part of the game for me was when Zia talks about how all the happiest memories she has are after the calamity. I wasn't planning on evacuation until I heard that.
Well, this one confirms my suspicions. The Bastion Soundtrack Edition is misnamed; clearly, you're buying a soundtrack with a bonus game included, not the other way around.
Its moments like this when simply listening to this after a long day can do wonders for the mind, as well as the body. The soothing tone of her voice, and the mellow and relaxing riff of the acoustic guitar just makes the entire world melt away, and not a single care given as to why.
Three years have passed since you posted this, and yet it still holds true. When I first heard this song, I put the controller down and just let myself be amazed. It's like a lullaby (and in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the Ura sang it as a lullaby to their young).
God dammit, Bastion is a game that made me fell like when i was 5, playing my first games on SNES... For a very good period of my life, i believed that i would never fell this way again, because i was growing older or whatever... but even with the modern games feeling less and less enjoable, i never quitted playing. I mean, we have great graphics nowadays, good multiplayer to play with friends, hard games, in-game achievments and a ton of other good stuff... But when i played bastion i realized that the old games gave me so much more satisfaction withoud any of this, and this very game did the same thing, making me fell like a little child. I didn't played this, i hovered through it: there was not a single moment when i got frustrated, desmotivated to continue playing...I mean, of course i died and failed, but i didn't had to force myself to continue, no matter how hard was that part or for how long i was already gaming. I finished it about 4-5 times, and the felling of emptiness i had after completing 100% of it still remains. Never found anything as good as this, not so catching... The other games from the producers are good, but not as good as this absolute masterpiece. If at least i could re-write my memories together with the Kid in the end to experience it all for the first time again and again, i would gladly live the rest of my days with this being the only installed game on my PC. Sorry for the bad English, not my best langage!
I'm pretty glad of this fact. When I started this game, the only thing that lured me was the voice-over narration. Then after hearing this song and some more I understood this game has more to it... Well at least in the artistic part
So, I've never played the game before, and this song is incredibly simplistic, yet it touches the exact parts of the human soul that make you ache. You don't find many people who can do that nowadays. It's interesting, 'cause there's not much to this song, but it's very deep at the same time. Given what I know of the context, it sounds like a peaceful agony.
Bazzralic plus the "one day that wall is gonna fall", "some day those tears are gonna spill", "you've go nowhere to run", "build it strong, cause we'll be there before too long". The only thing peaceful about the song is the smooth singing and slow pace. Odd people don't see it, but maybe they didn't pay attention to the history in the game, or the lyrics? Still a great song though.
I'm a drummer and a jazz vibes player, and whenever I get overwhelmed with all the new music I need to learn and analysing beats and chord changes, I come back here. I don't know what it is about this song but it comforts me when I get sick of music
It's about isolation. You can build walls around yourself, but 'they' always find you and break you down. Only two ways to experience loss: death or betrayal.
If anyone noticed... *spoiler* : For those who played the game Zia song actually tells us, The Kid's story of how he tried to save everything, But in the end failed, accepting the destroyed world...
I feel like this song may have a dual meaning, in that case, because the song is about the war between the two peoples of the game...the kids folks...and hers. I cant remember what her people were called right now.
This game is one of the most touching I have ever played. I m just singing this and i just want to start crying. just the best emotional time i have had in a game.
The wort part about Bastion, is that once you play it through, you'll never get to experience it for the first time ever again... Also, the remastered version is really awesome! Great job!
I love listening to this song while playing the stage it was with. It was almost synced when you go flying through the sky while she is singing... Truly Bastion is one of the main reasons why downloadable games isn't going anywhere for a long time...
This gives me goosebumps... its so freaken awesome, along with the setting in the game during which was playing and the narration, it almost brought tears to m eyes...
This song is actually the reason I bought this game. I always thought that Bastion looked really awesome and I should look into it, but probably wasn't going to buy it for a while if ever. Then, somehow I stumbled upon this song. I looked Bastion up on the Steam store and bought it almost immediately afterwards. No regrets.
it took me a lot of listen's to realize what the song was really about. the beat and softness of the voice draws you in. it seems like a peaceful song until you play through the game and realize what she's talking about.
The calamity is kind of the driving factor for the entire plot, as well as the creator of the entire setting. It's a natural sort of thing to talk about.
when ever I play a game, or watch a move that has an impact on me, i do what i can to thank the people who made it. its simple and easy to do, it doesn't even take 5 minutes away from my time. I watch the credits.
At that point, I just flipped the switch and stayed on that one platform for a while, partly because I loved the song, partly because I thought the skybridge went home, and I never wanted to leave that voice.
I love this song; don't know why I waiting 8 years to play this game. The lyrics are a little off in the description. It's not gon' as in gonna or going to, but rather go an' as in go and. "Go an' build that city on a hill" - She's daring them to build it.
I agree, very much so. I do hope, though, that it doesn't come for a long time. Such a magnificent experience would need as much time, resources, mind, heart, body, and soul as possible to make it right. Besides, absence makes the heart grow fonder- and I, for one, am still quite happy with Bastion. :)
i played this game thinking why did i buy this, then you just LOVE it its the BEST gameplay, BEST story line and BEST twists!! favorite game ever!!! :)
After rreading many reveiws for this game the only thing im in shock about is the fact thst the soundtrack was bearly mentioned, this game had aces in all catagories, Story, Graphics, Gameplay, but I think the music tied it all together giving it a atmosphere and ambiance unlike any other game.
@elampe True, sarcasm should never be used in written form. Also, that harmony at the end is not the only part played throughout the song, so I don't know what he meant. I agree with you though, that harmony at the end is very beautiful, almost haunting.
damn this song is so beautiful, makes me wanna cry just a little u.u makes me peaceful at the same time... how can some ppl say that videogames are just a waste of time, if they lead me to things like this
@superwowman100 wasnt listening to bastion themes. i already heared them a thousand times. you know that feel when you hear a theme of your childhood and then you go all like "dawwww that's the moment i did this specific thing in that video game!"?
This is such an amazing game, perfect balance of gameplay/mechanics, silly game fun, storytelling and art. Brilliant game
You are so right
This sentence can be used to describe any SGG product.
For the longest time, this was the top result if you search "actually good music" in youtube. Now it's some justin bieber video that contains the phrase "actually good music." This still places second.
you werent kidding
its back on top now
If you don't count the playlists, this is on the 2nd spot now, as of April 30th, 2019, below PewDiePie's video about UA-cam Rewind 2019.
@@DuyroZeppeli not anymore. Sept. 2020.

Best song for the game.
no the combo setting sail coming home for the ending is better since its this song on zulfs theme.
Wait. So what she is basically singing about is "Bring it on, I'm gonna level your whole fucking city with the ground." Holy shit.

Ain't that interesting.
I tried it and it is fucking true. WHAT
I'm pretty glad of this fact. When I started this game, the only thing that lured me was the voice-over narration. Then after hearing this song and some more I understood this game has more to it... Well at least in the artistic part
Holy shit it actually is, it definitely deserves the title though!
It had a promotion to the 4th place. :D
Glad to hear that :) I still consider this soundtrack as one of the best.
A special song for a special game. The moment you hear will be forever stamped into my brain
Learning to play this on guitar was one of the best ideas I've ever had.
So, I've never played the game before, and this song is incredibly simplistic, yet it touches the exact parts of the human soul that make you ache. You don't find many people who can do that nowadays.

Still a great song though.
How many people actually listen to the lyrics when playing video games.
Missile Lawnchair i always do since they might contain lore :P
Missile Lawnchair
Usually don't the first time, but when replaying or hearing it repeated, I like to stop and listen if I enjoyed it the first time.
"I dig my hole, you build a wall. One day that wall is gonna fall." The melody is so soothing that I didn't realize the song is about an invasion.
When I got to this part in Bastion I just stood listening to the song for a while... such a good feeling
such a good game!
Best game song ever, hands down
ummmm. close but no. listen to setting sail coming home from this soundtrack. youll love it
I have to give best game song ever to Balance Slays the Demon, with this in close second.
I can't give that title to just this song in the soundtrack, I give it to this one and "The Pantheon"
I'm a drummer and a jazz vibes player, and whenever I get overwhelmed with all the new music I need to learn and analysing beats and chord changes, I come back here. I don't know what it is about this song but it comforts me when I get sick of music
this song ends to quickly in the original version. So, thank you for this.
Oh god, this game was amazing. The music, art style, the narrator...everything was incredible. You have my support Supergiant Games!
This moment was absolutely beautiful I felt compelled to sit an watch as hoping not to disturb such a sublime enveloping tune.
Absolutely love this track, the vocals are just perfect and so is the game.
It's about isolation. You can build walls around yourself, but 'they' always find you and break you down. Only two ways to experience loss: death or betrayal.
Sounds like a Bond theme. Awesome tune.
This song actually blew my mind when I first heard it.
Thanks for the upload, Ive been humming this song for 3 days now. This song is priceless
I just love how we finally hear Zia's voice at the end of the game
this song and Compass from RDR are my favorite songs featured in a video game
If anyone noticed...
*spoiler* : For those who played the game
Zia song actually tells us,
The Kid's story of how he tried to save everything,
But in the end failed, accepting the destroyed world...
I feel like this song may have a dual meaning, in that case, because the song is about the war between the two peoples of the game...the kids folks...and hers. I cant remember what her people were called right now.
The Kid's folks were the Caelondians and Zia's people were the Ura.
Bernardo Apv Thanks! X)
Cryogenius333 lol np
but also you have the time travel ending where you take it back to the way it was
This song has a haunting melody that has likewise had me humming it for about 3 days. The reverb completes the feel, I think. Good work.
The nostalgia
what nostalgia? the game is 3 years old!??!? XD
***** ... and yet the song can still make you feel nostalgic for that universe :D
This game is one of the most touching I have ever played. I m just singing this and i just want to start crying. just the best emotional time i have had in a game.

Man, this song gets me every time. This game had such a godly soundtrack.
Gives me goosebumps - the good kind :D
Love the narrator in Bastion, badass :D
Kid understands why the song sounds so good; gives his soul a reason to keep fightin'.
This shows the effect that a good soundtrack can have on a game, not to say that bastion wouldnt be amazing without it
Her voice is like sweet honey for my ears.. Does anyone have any idea what her name is?
+Cernael Why did I have to google her name? She's so ugly. Now I can't stop thinking about that face while I listen to this...
+kneyki kan something wrong with your head brah. shes a cutie.
Cryogenius333 Im talking about Ashley Barrett
kneyki kan I know.
Cryogenius333 low standards ass loser
This gives me goosebumps... its so freaken awesome, along with the setting in the game during which was playing and the narration, it almost brought tears to m eyes...
This song did, and still does, continue to be a very relatable piece.
THis whole soundtrack is so heavenly. It's probably the best I've heard since Wind Waker.
THANK YOU FOR THE REVERB :)!!!!!!!! The original is good, but it gives a better feeling with that echo :)!
This game is truly amazing in all aspects, especially the visuals and the audio.
I have started using this as my lullaby for when i can't fall asleep. simply brilliant original, and you did a good job on the "remix"
I bought this game through the steam sales 2 days ago and I was completely blown away.......absolutely amazing.
As of now I have been playing this masterpiece and it's the best game I've ever played
When this song started playing in the game, I lost track of how long I wandered around the level simply enjoying the song..
No regrets.
I really like the point where you stopped the song. The complete lack of music after that point just adds to the mood.
Man, it's gonna hurt in 10 years when I stumble across this song again... I cant already imagine the nostalgia...
hey there
@@pooderquaste1 Haha we had the same exact idea! Yet you made it first :P Hope the person finds this again
it took me a lot of listen's to realize what the song was really about. the beat and softness of the voice draws you in. it seems like a peaceful song until you play through the game and realize what she's talking about.
Best tune on the whole album.. This is simply incredibly amazing!!
The space between the end of the first and start of the second loop is a little short, but good lengthening of an incredible song.
You're a real champ for the work on this and everything
This song is pretty good for a game that doesn't get enough respect, it rightfully deserves.
really awesome, I had to stop the game just to find this song =)
Thank you for this, I just found her in game, gorgeous song.
The calamity is kind of the driving factor for the entire plot, as well as the creator of the entire setting. It's a natural sort of thing to talk about.
I live this song so much
I liked the echo and acoutic feeling from this version of the song it actually sounds like the one in the game perfectly.
Thank you for making my day a bit better
This has been stuck in my head the past 2 days, and Im OK with that.
i sat on the level where she sung this for an hour just so i could listen to it
i sat a good 5 minutes listening to this song when i first came across it
when ever I play a game, or watch a move that has an impact on me, i do what i can to thank the people who made it. its simple and easy to do, it doesn't even take 5 minutes away from my time.
I watch the credits.
I think the mismatch of the message and the calm, lovely way she delivers it creates an interesting and a bit terrifying impression.
If this game doesnt win game of the year for sound, story, gameplay, and graphics I will lose all hope for the gaming industry. Perfection.
I love this picture, with The Kid in it. The song fits so nicely to this pic.
I listened to it for 20 minutes before I moved on in the game lol.. I just had to look up that lovely haunting voice and listen more!
Thanks for uploading this version! Sound is FANTASTIC! Love this song! Beautiful voice. :)
This is probably one of the best games to hold up in the argument that video games are art, among a select few others.
A touching song for a simple and good-looking game.
The gap in time between the first and second loop is a bit too quick, but everything else sounds great. Thanks for the remastered version!
I'm in the middle of playing this game right now and holy crap! So bloody good.
This song is so simple, yet so awesome.
At that point, I just flipped the switch and stayed on that one platform for a while, partly because I loved the song, partly because I thought the skybridge went home, and I never wanted to leave that voice.
I love this song; don't know why I waiting 8 years to play this game.

"Go an' build that city on a hill" - She's daring them to build it.
We need or maybe I just need more music like this in the world, I or we I guess are living in.
Thank you thank you thank you sooooo much for uploading this.
Iron Within. Iron Without.
this is so beautiful and chilling
Such a beautiful song, can be interpreted in a couple of different ways too i think.
You sir, deserve all the internets you can get.
im glad i can perform this song. its so pleasant
i could listen to this for hours
Very nice, love the harmony at the end
The chillss.....
i played this game thinking why did i buy this, then you just LOVE it its the BEST gameplay, BEST story line and BEST twists!! favorite game ever!!! :)
i've waited for 30 minutes when i met zia for the first time because i didnt want to interrupt her. Awesome song
great job this is how i wish it would have been on the cd
fantastic game, and beautiful song and voice.

Great moment in the game. Great song too.
I can't get enough of this song. It's like candy.

never cried this much
I like the sequence when the narrator is humming this song.
