Paul manages to capture Sade’s music. The piano is complex but he captures the melody with chords. I play Sade’s music wish I could capture it like Paul. Great job!

This may come, this may come as some surprise But I miss you I could see through all of your lies But still I miss you He takes her love, but it doesn't feel like mine He tastes her kiss, her kisses are not wine, they're not mine He takes, but surely she can't give what I'm feeling now She takes, but surely she doesn't know how Is it a crime? I worshship you..JK. I grew up on Sade and always wished I could play just one of her songs. I wish you could show a more detailed chord progression, maybe lighted keys? Anyways ...You're awesome though. I'll just watch a million times and learn the hard way. How did you learn all these songs? How long you been tapping the keys?
Thank you prometheus for your open-mindedness. Yes, there are examples on UA-cam (none of them mine though) where a cover matches or exceeds the popularity of the song as first released.
I'm going to install the midi drivers and start making some better tutorials all round as there is now a long list. Yes - I would guess the one solitary dislike is from him.
amazing. i think you know how good you are. (weird logic but) you play so well that you dont even finish the song. you have to do lessons. say the notes as you play them and put the camera in a good view so i can see the notes you play
Very nice medley! Actually i'm working on your tutorial,is it a crime! Very nice song. But i'm stilla begginer at keyboard:started 6 month ago with piano for all lessons.
I have a question. Are you a bassist as well as a keyboardist, because during the "break down" in Hang on to Your Love, you did what would be called a "slap"
Paul I owe you a huge depth for this tutorial. I have learned so much in playing my fav Sade songs particularly " Is It A Crime. " I can barely see your right - hand for that twinkle part for the chord for the chorus " Is It A Crime. " I tried to play that part by ear and I don't think I'm quite getting it. I would love to see more of your right-hand for this song! Thanks again Paul - your playing is divine!
Damn that was great! A piano well played is so pleasing to the ear. BTW, do you by any chance have "ain't no mountain high?" It would sound great on your keyboards.
I never gave too much atention to the base line. But as the name says, it's so important! OMG Now I have to learn how to do a good base line! My right hand is quite nice, but my left hand... it sux! How to develop the left hand?
Hi - thanks for commenting. A few people have said approximately the same thing to me over the years. Keyboard makers obsess over loyalty to the sound of the grand piano. I don't think the bass end of a grand piano encourages relaxed single note playing. The trick is to patch in a bass guitar for the bottom two octaves and then your style will adapt by itself.
Wow really tight tunes. Excellent technique. I was wondering whether you could play advanced classical repertoire or does that call for different techniques?
Thank you for all of your engagement with my videos ciara - much appreciated. There is some room for interpretation with classical pieces, but really not that much compared with building your own arrangements for a solo keyboard.
Thanks Objetivoyrealista - I tend to avoid straight repetition preferring to put related songs together like this. If there was any variation I could have made I would have put it in.
@RSTAR2009 There is a lot of interest in learning these songs and I've only done a tutorial for the first one. I'm hoping to start getting sheet music published soon in which case I will make proper sheet versions of these. Thanks for your support and encouragement :)
@BipProductionsBeats The problem is that I have to rig up a different camera for the tutorials, it takes time to get it to focus correctly, then it takes ages to transfer it to the video editing software and put it all together; so unfortunately I cannot make tutorials that easily. Plus I'm generally pretty busy at the moment, I've only managed to push out one video in the last five weeks. I will do a batch of tutorials soon though and I'll include this one. Sorry again about the delay.
Thank you Custard. I do try a lot of songs to see what I can find which works well and which nobody else has tried. Occasionally I find a good one like this.
Hi I'm New Here Glad you liked it . I've just run a search for Beatles let it be piano - there must be a hundred or so; I'm going to try to cover some of the stuff which works well but which no-one else has done then do more mainstream stuff. Thanks for the suggestion anyway :)
Hi Mary. I have stopped making sheet music and tutorials and instead I am developing a product called PlugAndPlink which can teach any song you request.
Ok - i'll try to squeeze it in next time I set up the camera for tutorials. It's sitting behind 4 other songs in the tutorial votes ranking so I'll have to get them out the way first.
Hi. Thanks for your comment. I have stopped creating sheet music and instead I am developing a product called PlugAndPlink which can teach any song you request.
Paul your performance is great, I was wondering if you could play the last song hang on to your love for more minutes because it was too short just 1:20 min. anyway you were fantastic.
Excellent Paul.. Any chance of getting a .mid file to use as a tutorial? Great stuff! Oh and can you believe the Jim1234 cat?? It took 6 minutes to figure out you weren't Sade.. and then somehow you were the bad guy.. Really?
@paulwwells: Paul you're a real smooth operator of the piano yourself! Even if it's a crime to perform these beautiful songs, please continue to play them with passion like you do. Just hang on to your love (which is obviously operating the piano like a smooth criminal). All the best to you! and don't waste precious time on jealous weirdos like this mrJim. Thanks for taking the time to create the tutorials of these songs!
Dam dude..Came here for smooth operator and u nailed it..But when the clock struck 2:13 you RIPPED my heart out brother.. Never heard that one and i was AFFRAID to after hearing this because i didint want to be disappointed..Very nice job buddy...
Paul you are a gift to upcoming piano players and songwriters like myself. Your piano tutorial on Sade's IS IT A CRIME is a labor of love but educational nonetheless!
OH.... MY ..... GOSH .... WE NEED TO COLLAB!!! Dude listening to this must be what HEAVEN sounds like. I'm Sade's BIGGEST fan! Great JOB!!! Keep these vids going!!! Hope to hear more SADE tunes!
Thank you Bill. There is a cover on my channel of one of these songs. I did write a script for a video to explain my musical past a couple of years ago but never got around to putting it all together.
Your arrangement of "Smooth Operator" is not correct to the original, but I really, really like it!!! I would personally like it even better if it included the Dm7 to Em7 Intro though, that part not only sounds kind of "Steely Dan"-ish, but the chromaticism in that part of the Bass line is cool as well. I also think you could perhaps cut down slightly on the number of those ancient Minor fill licks (A CDEFEC D); they sound great, but start seeming a bit overly repetitive, IMHO, unlike the (obviously composed, not improvised) Saxophone fills during the verses in the original. You still do a wonderful job with your dynamics to keep the different parts from interfering with each other, though. Just a bit of constructive criticism from someone with a pretty good ear... your arrangement still sounds absolutely fantastic... way better than I can do, I can only play the actual Keyboard part in the song right now (note per note), it was the first song I learned after buying my first Keyboard since the 1980's a couple of days ago ;-)
Paul manages to capture Sade’s music. The piano is complex but he captures the melody with chords. I play Sade’s music wish I could capture it like Paul. Great job!
Thank you for your encouraging words.

The Hang on to Your Love cover was mesmerizing
Thank youTomas :)
Paul, you're one of the few people who's covers I sometimes like more than the original.
Thank you prometheus for your open-mindedness. Yes, there are examples on UA-cam (none of them mine though) where a cover matches or exceeds the popularity of the song as first released.
Thank you! I love IS IT A CRIME especially the chorus and the solo parts. You played it all beautifully!
@danceryyxc this now has 4 tutorial votes
You are so amazing. I've been wanting to sing this with accompaniment, but I don't know anybody who plays Sade half as well as you do!
It's great ! I love the sound of the left hand. Like a guitar bass !
Paul, can you please please do a tutorial for Is It a Crime?
I always loved your style. .yu r the truth!
Carlos Sainz Vázquez de Castro Jr
Hi Paul,
can you please point me to the corresponding musci sheet for the version you play here? It's really an awesome version!!
I'm going to install the midi drivers and start making some better tutorials all round as there is now a long list. Yes - I would guess the one solitary dislike is from him.

I definitely vote a tutorial for Hang On to Your Love.
Please please please do Nothing can come between us or Keep looking
Just...excellent. As a fellow Pianist, and SADE fan, well done Paul.
Thank you Lawrence. The Sade songs are very nice to play.
For that IS IT A CRIME piece there needs to be accompaniment to give it a complete sound.
@paulwwells i agree with bipproductionsbeats. idea: just play the song slow that every note can been seen and heared.
awesome this is imnewhere123456879
my original account. awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! can u play the beatles let it be?

@MrJim12341121 Ah - but is it a crime?

Excellent playing Paul! Your sense of timing is spot on! Nice sound on the recording too. *****
Damn that was great! A piano well played is so pleasing to the ear. BTW, do you by any chance have "ain't no mountain high?" It would sound great on your keyboards.

I don't think I realised just how nice this song is until I heard your version of it!
good version!
you do the lead-sheet by yourself?
Wow really tight tunes. Excellent technique. I was wondering whether you could play advanced classical repertoire or does that call for different techniques?
Thank you for all of your engagement with my videos ciara - much appreciated. There is some room for interpretation with classical pieces, but really not that much compared with building your own arrangements for a solo keyboard.
Anyone have the sheet music for this medley? Would die to play this but I'm not experienced enough to play it by ear yet
Hi Aarya - if you buy a Keysnake (PlugAndPlink.com) I'll be happy to add these songs to the library for you to learn.
I absolutely love these Sade arrangements. Please do more.
Possibly The Sweetest Taboo?
Have you got a score for "Smooth Operator"?
Love your covers!

How do you even go about learning how to do this. I would love to play like this, but I don't know how to practice with meaning
Thank you Custard. I do try a lot of songs to see what I can find which works well and which nobody else has tried. Occasionally I find a good one like this.
@Th4Pr1m3K1n6 No I'm not a bassist but I know what a slap is and I'm probably subconsciously wanting to get that effect.
@hypr0040 Hi. Sorry for my slow reply. These are three good songs which, with the right sounds, work well.
@keys2001 Thank you. I had lessons up to age 20. After that I've just been tweaking sounds and trying to copy songs as best I can.
I vote for tutorial for" is it a crime"!
Goddamnit this is good. 5/5
execllent

Do you have these songs on individual piano solo sheets? If so where can I purchase them?
Hi Mary. I have stopped making sheet music and tutorials and instead I am developing a product called PlugAndPlink which can teach any song you request.
DAMN! Those are some sexy hands.
@MrJim12341121 Wow. Relax there.
Ok - i'll try to squeeze it in next time I set up the camera for tutorials. It's sitting behind 4 other songs in the tutorial votes ranking so I'll have to get them out the way first.

Excellent Paul.. Any chance of getting a .mid file to use as a tutorial? Great stuff! Oh and can you believe the Jim1234 cat?? It took 6 minutes to figure out you weren't Sade.. and then somehow you were the bad guy.. Really?
