Thanks for sharing. Respect to you and Chris Turek for your work developing this and to Frederick and FX for making this a reality for you. I'm struggling to get detail here in NZ - but I realise it's early days. But I firmly believe the "Portable" model of this system will work with my Magnum Break Barrels. Thanks again, good sir!
Dauymmm thats accurate! I think I will have to get me one of these ones. Should consistently get rid of the pesky fliers that I am experiencing every once in a while.
That's been my experience. You have to start with a good tune but it's easier to make the adjustments separately than it it is to try and do one with the other.
I don't know. I can't remove it and I don't have the technical specs. From working a lot with these it's crazy how little the weight has to move to make a difference.
I put my carbon sleeve and carbon sleeved barrel tuner on my FX M3 22 Sniper this week. Per your suggestion I dialed it in at 30 yards. Shooting FX 18.13 pellets. got good results with the tune a .2565 group shooting 5 shots. My question comes in should I test my MKII 22 cal. slug gun that I am putting the carbon sleeve and carbon sleeved barrel tuner on at 30 yards also? As a side I have used the boss system on my Winchester 70 classics in 300 Win mag and 308. While I could do the same thing hand loading this gave me an extra wrench in my tool kit when working a load up for the rifles. Thank you for co-developing this for us. I look at it the same way another wrench in my tool kit. If you would like to see my targets and setup. I am more than willing to share.

Honestly.. I feel it's BS that YOU get to use it for a Benchrest Competition and the average guy that wants one can't even buy one yet. If every shooter at RMAC was supplied one to test and shoot with then it would be a fair contest. Same goes for the new 800mm barrel. Factory Sponsored shooters should be in a separate class with no prize money... they are already getting paid.
I do have to say I agree with you to a degree. It could be an unfair advantage considering there are shooters out there who are unaware of said technologies yet, to be fair this is not a new concept....Harmonic barrel tuners and dampening systems have been around for a while in the powder-burner world for some time now. Also, in the Airgun world the Filipino shooters have been crafting barrel tuners/dampeners out of various materials (like automotive bushings and such) on their no-name, hand built Airguns also for some time now. One of my closest friends and fellow Airgunner is Filipino who LOVES guns and (as he is a combat vet of the U.S. military) travels to his 2nd home in the Philippines and hosts an annual shoot with Airguns there and that is where he he's seen their barrell tuning ingenuities first hand. Bullshit......Well, I can see where that could seem true at 1st glance yet, it's about bringing what you know works, what you have studied, what you have built and or modified, what you have tested and tuned, and what is consistently reliable and accurate for hitting the billseye in the world of shooting and marksmanship.....Hope this helps you see things possibly through a different lens......Pun intended.💥💥👊
Thomas, I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm not sponsored by FX, or paid by them. I played a small part on the development of an idea. The Pro class (at RMAC at least) is where the rules say I have to be as I am on the DonnyFL team along with all of the other sponsored (FX, Daystate, RAW, AirArms, Saber Tactical, K&L, etc) shooters. I paid my own way to Utah, paid for gas, hotel and meals. I bought my own guns and pellets. I have friends in a related shooting industry who sponsored my practice ammo and air tank. PJ, first off congrats to both you and Chris, great product!! Can you answer a question for me. I already have a 20mm CF shroud on my Impact (I may even put on a 25mm) so I was thinking of just getting the tuner, without the shroud attached. Right now I just tension the CF shroud between the moderator and gun and it works really well for both POI shift, harmonics, etc. 1. Would I be able to just add this piece in between? Would you put an O-ring or anything in between? 2. Can you give me the diameter of both end please? I appreciate it. Again, great job!! EDIT: I just watched Chris' video and it looks like you made the tuner to fit flush with the OEM shroud which is 28mm, so I believe I found the answer. If I am wrong please correct me.
I think you could use the stand alone tuner with a carbon fiber shroud. I'm a fan of shroud tensioning. I have my Dreamline set up that way and it made a huge difference, as long as you can keep the tension the same. I'm not in a position to take a measurement, but 25mm seems about right.
I'm told there will be a Maverick version, but the length of the exposed part of the barrel is slightly different between the Impact and the Maverick so they are not interchangeable.
@@WiscAirGunners How come You got the barrel Tuner And we like a costumer can buy them yet?? Chris says Link will be available 4 days a go where we can buy and so far nothing!!! Just telemarketing advertising nothing else
FX Ambassadors get all the goodies but when are they REALLY available for the regular shooters. Not being sour but FX has told us about this and their other items but as of today only the carbon fiber sleeves are out. Great you can show us how it works but let's just wait and see when it's released. Thanks for all you do and for being an FX ambassador.
these barrel tuners work wel on the fx system ,but i do not think that it would do much on a stiff strong steel bull barrel ,lets say a 18 mm stress relased steel barrel ,,exspecially on a low pressure airgun compared to a firearm. . the grouping you see is the movement of the barrel . if you got speed difference shot to shot or pressure difference , a tuner can not help.
The trick is to start with tuning the rifle to as small a spread/SD as possible, in a velocity that works for the projectile and style of shooting, and then work on the barrel. I think the idea works on firearm barrels, but not this unit which is built for airguns.
Thank you Sir. They keep telling me “by the end of summer”. I really need a chrono and am waiting for the inline with the rail mounted display. I wonder how many things we will all have hanging of our barrels. LOL Tuners, moderators, chronos, etc.
I believe it's completely unnecessary on airguns a gimmick no more no less. Please show the differents with and without barrel tuner. I doudt verry much the Groups will be smaller with the barrel tuner. I've seen several video's on it n Bud no One is showing groups with or with out barrel tuner. I don't believe the Groups getting tight er with the tuner for lets 12-120 fpe and even Higher. When you're fx is set up right , reg pressure , speed right pellet, good support/bipod or benchrest. I think the Groups are just as good whitout. When you're gun and barrel are up to the task what a FX Impact is, and Everything is setup right for lets say sub moa Groups @ yards . The barrel harmonics are always gonna be the same when you're shooting techniek is good.I don't believe the barrel tuner wil help to get better results.Maybe on the bigbore extreem powerfull airguns it wil make a differents that I don't know. Ps love youre vids keep up the good work.
I appreciate your view on the matter, but disagree. I was just doing some quick (as the daylight was fading) work with my Maverick in .22 cal. It's a compact for whatever that might be worth. I was shooting at 30 yards. It was 5°F and the wind was listed by the Weather Channel as 7mph, and reasonably steady. I was shooting 5 shot groups at 30 yards with the JSB Hades pellets. I put the stand alone tuner on after shooting a couple of groups. that were all about a half inch or less center to center. Immediately the groups opened up, but as I rotated the unit I found two promising spots and worked from there. The final group I shot was .24 inches center to center. You have to start with a good tune and the right velocity for the projectile, but barrel harmonics are a thing, even for small FPA rifles. If not, Olympic shooters wouldn't be adjusting the barrel weights on their rifles when they set them up. Thanks for the positive feedback on the channel.
