Discovery Hut 3D Laser Scanning Data

Geometria scanned Discovery hut in 2010 and again in 2011, as part of the K021 program. This video shows the exterior and the interior of the hut.
Discovery Hut was built during Robery Falcon Scott's first expedition attempt to reach the South Pole.
This scan data was acquired using a Faro Focus x130 laser scanner, by Daniel McCurdy and Russell Gibb.

Amazing, just like your other videos. The amount of detail is really impressive. Do you convert the point clouds in textured 3d models?

Thank you ! No this is just a point cloud in this video. The video is rendered in Bentley Pointools, which does a great job of making it all look solid :-) Funny thing about this video is that someone walked up and looked at the scanner just as it was taking photos. You can see their face stretched across the landscape, forever immortalised !
