To chat with multiple documents, my favorite tool is actually Afforai. It’s better than Scispace by far. I think you showcasing Jenni and Scispace is only showing the mainstream tools, but there’s a whole world of AI tools for academia that’s thriving.
This is going to save my life. I find so many papers and then have an excel sheet from HELL! I get so confused and overwhelmed! Also, the find papers option is a game changer. When there are limited studies in a particular area it can be like finding a needle in a haystack! I can’t wait to try
Great review and comparison of the two tools. Just a thought about why Jenni took out AI detection and how dangerous it can be to use... Most schools will use TurnItIn's AI detection or some other AI detection tool and most of these tools are not offering transparency about how they detect AI-written text. Therefore, what kind of assurance is Scispace offering that it's tool will detect AI similarly to the tool that any other university is using? For example, what if SciSpace returned a low AI percentage, but then TurnItIn returned something contradictory? I imagine that Jenni AI was sensitive to this liability. Also, TurnItIn's AI detection has had plenty of problems with false positives and false negatives. It also doesn't provide evidence about how it is detecting AI. It has also been found to be biased against non-native English speakers.
Is Scispace able to access and read pdfs that are behind a pay walls like JSTOR? Or does it only connect to what is readily available on say Google Scholar?
Hey @anjaliganapathy2420, it only reads open access ones. For the ones behind a paywall, it reads the abstract. However, you can upload pdfs and then Scispace will read them
I've been using Scispace and I tried the ask copilot with 20 papers and it only gave me information from 4 sources.and not all.20 which is not very good so I have to ask each individual paper.
