It’s more for decks that run infinite creature combos… you let them create the loop and kill them. It’s instant speed for splinter twin/Kiki type combos.
You can’t think of any artifacts you would want to destroy? Bolas’ Citadel Helm of the Host Any of the Blades of X and Y Swiftfoot Boots/Lightning Greaves Mind Crank Mind Slaver Sol Ring The One Ring Mana Crypt/Vault Esper Sentinel Ashnod’s Altar/Phyrexian Altar While artifacts aren’t usually the thing that directly kills you, they are usually the thing that leads to that death.
Good highlights for the point you’re making… Against me… if my altars don’t get destroyed immediately… it’s game over That’s how Ratadrabik gets down!😅
I won a game with Boros Charm on Thursday. I was playing my Rin & Sirri deck and had gotten a bunch of tokens out and one of my opponents played a board wipe. I saved my board and killed him on the crack-back. Then eliminated the other two players on the next turn. It was a perfect card to have in hand at that point.
I'm disappointed not to see Azorious charm on here. Top notch removal, cycling, and a potentially game changing amount of lifegain for only two mana is an auto include for me. The subtle impact of putting things on top of libraries to add the effect of "target player skips their next draw" is very underrated.
I prefer Esper charm than obscura charm. I feel like there’s to many restrictions on all of the modes making it unlikely to even have a target most of the times
Yeah, someone's popping off with scute swarm or krenko and gets like 36 token creatures in one turn, Rakdos Charm on their end step and they're literally dead. It's like a reverse board wipe.
I am guessing that 95% of the time, I would only be including this in my deck for the 3rd mode. The 2nd mode is OK but there are better cards if that is what you need. The first mode has to be the least useful of any charm.
For this reason i recommend master warcraft as well. Is basically mode 3 on steroids - you can either stop attacks - set a bad block (if you are attacking) or no blocks at all also you can politic
Naya Charm is number 1 for me. The 3 damage is the weakest mode but still gives it the chance of being that removal spell when you need it. Mode 2 is the cheapest instant speed regrowth effect in the game, additionally as you said this can get your opponent's cards. I have politiced so many cards with a Naya Charm, it is frequently a boardwipe you don't have to pay mana for. Mode 3 is again the cheapest version of this effect in the game. Great as a Fog or a creatures target player controls can't block until their next turn. If someone has that winning board state (dropping the Craterhoof), the three other players swinging into them for free will usually kill that "winning" player. The card does everything.
Modal counter spells like archmages charm are great for cascade decks. If you hit one u get to use the other modes. If not u hard draw into it and use as a subotimal counter spell.
Despite Boros being one of the more underwhelming color combinations, I have to say, I think they have the best charm. Indestructible on all permanents for 2 mana is crazy good. If it was just creatures alone, it would still be impressive, but it's permanents.
Dawn charm is IMO undervalued, Obscura charm good but overvalued on this list, I do not understand why Bant charm is not at the bottom of the list (I get why once upon a time it was probably the best charm) and I find the Grixis charm to be the worst (basically 3 mediocre options). I would rank Boros charm as the best.
Boros Charm, Rakdos Charm, and Golgari Charm are my #1-3. I run them in a bunch of decks. Really surprised to see Rakdos so low on this list; instant artifact removal is often essential for stopping a combo or dropping a sword off a creature to make it blockable, and the damage mode has killed many a player. The graveyard hate is more niche but very strong against the right deck. I generally avoid the three mana charms.
Dromar's Charm is one of my favourites too, and I definitely would rank it higher than Orzhov and Dimir, but its problem is that the first mode is not that useful in most cases. (That same argument can be made for some of the modes on Orzhov and Dimir, which is why it surprised me to see them on here.)
This effect is pretty rare, and if my Scryfall skills work, it's at least as common in blue as in white. (Though in fairness, the last new white card printed with a similar effect, Githzerai Monk, is from Baldur's Gate.)
It’s not that artifact removal isn’t important but in general decks do not struggle with it and there are much better options (ie. a red charm that destroys an artifact for an awkward cost or you could just overload a Vandalblast and destroy all opponents artifacts for 4R).
@@Dragon_Fyre honestly I would run both, sometimes someone slams somthing like Bolas’ Citadel and you want to get rid of it now. instant speed is really good.
Rakdos cham can be a 2 mana kill a player. It's a great counter to players swarming to kill
Seriously lol. This is a card that decks like Chatterfang hate to see.
As a fairly dedicated token player, I can attest that I have been knocked out by Rakdos Charm.

Bolas’ Citadel
Helm of the Host
Any of the Blades of X and Y
Swiftfoot Boots/Lightning Greaves
Mind Crank
Mind Slaver
Sol Ring
The One Ring
Mana Crypt/Vault
Esper Sentinel
Ashnod’s Altar/Phyrexian Altar

Hope is the last thing to leave a man
Great Henge, the one that doubles lifegain and card draw, Eldrazi monument
You certainly might want to destroy The One Ring...but you can't lol.
Even Lightning Greaves or Swiftfoot Boots, because they are usually sitting on top of the actual problem.
Aragorn liked this video
Frick, now I gotta get an aragon for my Ramos deck. Can't believe I missed that when it came out
I have a Ramos rainbow too. Aragorn works as a second commander. It’s great

I have Dawn Charmed a Curse of the Cabal, don’t underestimate a White counterspell.
Nice to see the recognition for Maestros Charm
Thanks for explaining a charm. Please explain a shower next it will help my local LGS.

I've won the game with Rakdos charm before, we still talk about it in my playgroup.
Yeah, someone's popping off with scute swarm or krenko and gets like 36 token creatures in one turn, Rakdos Charm on their end step and they're literally dead. It's like a reverse board wipe.
The timing is on point, two games within 5 minutes were won by naya charm last night at my lgs xD

Rakdos Charm is excellent against huge goblin armies and against big armies buffed by Triumph of the Hordes.
Nothing hotter than Jund Charm to immediately get 5 counters on Ramos
The rakdos charm is so damn good better than tri color charm
Heat video yet again. I love charms and am always surprised that more people don’t play charms. Thanks for the list

Is it just me, or is there a space missing between "that" and "would" in the first effect of dawn charm?
You are correct.
WotC can't afford a QC department because they only sold 500,000 Secret Lairs this year
Niv Reborn is ready for this

Spot on for Orzhov charm. I run a Killian auras Voltron deck so having that charm in hand is key
It’s good in a few select decks but overall a very niche charm.
@@Dragon_Fyre oh totally niche.
this video was so charming.
This makes me want to make a lucky charms deck.
"You can't use all of them."
Unless your opponents let you play Far Out! 😁
Just finished my Aragorn’s Charming Army deck.
Never noticed the print error on dawn charm till just now.

Azorious, Esper and krosis, rakdos and izzet feel like the only playable here. Ofc archmage charm is also the best of all
That spacing on Dawn charm bothers me where it says thatwould

Maybe I missed it, but what about Boros charm? Indestructible to all party or double strike for player removal? Yes please!
i think it was number 4
@@edhdeckbuilding Then I missed it when washing the dishes... :D

Rakdos charm, boros charm>>>>> the rest
Golgari is also great
@@rodrigomascarenhasbarbosa3922 idk what the golgari one does
Boros charm number uno to me
I dont know. With the One Ring in existence I would say artifacts just gained a bomb that I want to destroy (better yet exile) everytime I see it.

What? Abazan charm higher than rakdos charm? You're crazy. it's so much worse than rakdos charm it's not even funny.
Why the numbers lesbian
