Vlad is a great coach. Thanks for another solid technique.
Vlad is great at explaining details!
Like the info dropped on breaking the grips too!
Good throw. I teach it at my club. We call it a Russian Fireman. Good for combos too.
Nice , thanks Vlad !
Great teacher!
cool throw..
Proper teminology is Ioda's throw... ;)
cool throw. Doesn't work. just sprawl.
a good zusushi should avoid the sprawl, if you face a little resistance then just raise a knee after you drop and power through it like coming up after a drop seoi nage
Oscar, I appreciate the response. I know this series of throws very well. I competed internationally in free-style and was coached by the US Greco-Roman Coach Tom Minkle and Japanese wrestler Misaka Hata (one of only 5 wrestlers who beat Dan Gable). IMO, there are throws that look awesome and are fun to practice and learn. Real crowd pleasers. But in application against a trained foe they just don't work. However, my experience is based from a no-gi perspective. Perhaps, when applying these throws in competition where the gi is worn, that can be a game changer.
Matthew Tucker that is exactly right, sir. Kurtka (jacket) makes the set up easier and makes it harder to sprawl. However it would be recommended course of action to stop the throw
Oscar Ariel Resto kuzushi ;)
