*OK, so I've been caught...* #Busted - my wife caught me watching this "synth porn", and she is not happy... I tried to explain that I was only watching _"to hear Bo's story"_ but she's not having any of it... in her own words: _"that synth's not beautiful - the colours don't match... and all those patch leads make it look messy; they should be shorter...."_ - if being caught was not bad enough she then hit me with "my penalty" for my moment of weakness: _"... and you can tell Bo that I said so !!!"_ So Bo, sorry, these are not my words... to he honest I did not even see the colour scheme, or the messy patch leads... I was just listening "to hear your story" 😉

Moog has a very cool synth here. It is almost like a hybrid between a ARP 2600 and a Voyager. I also think it is very cool looking and inspiring with all those colors, it screams "play with me". BTW, new cut looks great.
Bought one of these a couple of days ago. Was blown away by the sheer beauty and power of this synth.

Eye didn't but Eye got it anyway. You can cut one or two things out from daily habits and save enough to pay buy it or pay it off on a payment plan (it will take months or maybe even a year but it's worth it). Eye just finished paying for my Matriarch and Rd 8 last week. It wasn't easy but Eye wanted it bad enough. Peace

Great haircut - pretty sure fewer people will get you and Heinbach mixed up now! This is such a stunning synth. I was amazed at the Grandmother when I tried it out; sonically much like other similar Moog’s but comparing eg to the Sub Phatty, it was just a wonderful tactile experience that was really inspiring and enjoyable

Hey Bo! I've been watching your videos for a while and never knew you make music too. Just heard Renewal on Apple Music! I really like it. You seem to record a lot of outboard gear, what Audio Interface do you use? Your sounds are so clean!
Thanks buddy! I am not promoting my music heavily but I will release a lot more stuff in 2020. Getting back into the groove. This track is a mix of VST, sampled drums and a few hardware synths. I used a Clarett 8 Pre for this recording. And also ran stuff thru an analog heat mk2.
Great video, and no comments to the hair..But did you get a haircut at the end?;-) It sounds really great but must say the Pro3 looks more interesting to me now we are talking high end mono synths..BTW. have you turned your back to Cubase and implemented Live in your setup?..Just curious..I use Studio one myself.

Just thought I would let you know about a cool Ableton feature you could use with your computer & monitor display. If you do cmd + shift + W it should open up a second window. You can then drag it to your computers display and you will have a dual monitor Ableton display!

Oh man. This was me a week ago! I just got one and it is the most organic sounding synth I've ever played. I'm having too much fun with it so far! I hope you love yours too! We may be Serial Number brothers! I'm in the low 2000's. Just a heads up, I had to recalibrate mine about 4 times before everything was rock solid in tune. I'm guessing mine may have sat in a warehouse for a while.

Ok, thumb down, since the video is titled "unboxing" but the actual unboxing is cut out. Yes, I gather that it has been messy, that you're ashamed of yourself, that you ended up destroying the box, but that's the point of an unboxing video.

But, maybe... I don't know what is in the box apart from the synth and probalby a powerchord and some patchcables... Next time a short view of what's in the box would be nice.
@@BoBeats Yep. It's actually a technical question. ;-) How do you get those heavy synths out of the card box without dropping or breaking anything (assuming you want to keep the box). Of course, an alternative is to always order a flycase with your synth, so you don't mind the card box after all...
What was in the box is in the video: cables, manual, patchguide, sticker, power. And foam 😅

Ok, I didn't really care for this synth (or even the grandmother) when it came out. But the sounds you've gotten in this video are unreal.

I’m sure you’ll do a great review, but it goes to show how beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Functionally it may be great but I can’t get over how ugly it is, in fact find all modern moogs are pretty ugly but the multi colors on this are a new level of hideous. Memory Moog great looking synth, Moog one ...not at all. Ultimately of course it’s about the sound but can’t help but think if it didn’t have an iconic brand name there’d be more negativity at there cosmetics?
There is already people who dont like the colors. I totally get it.

Let me assure you it's the best synth I've owned in recent years. It draws you in. Great purchase. The ease at which the sustain sliders move is actually a good thing. You'll see after you own it a while.
It's a wonderful synth. The only thing i don't understand is why they didn't put the spring reverb of the Grandmother on this one.
How are you liking Ableton so far? Also are you using it with the push controller?
Not much Push yet, but I am enjoying Ableton Live alot
@@BoBeats I can't imagine using Live without Push. Its totally transformative of the experience. (But I see you are in Arrangement view, and I pretty much only use Session view).

I've noticed the trend lately where people tend to release singles instead of full albums... Seems to be what you're doing too. Is the strategic? Asking because I spend a lot of my time in headphones and in my car so I prefer albums. I guess in general I prefer albums because I like the idea of an artist creating a long form experience. I always start on track one and go to the end if it keeps my attention.
I have no idea tbh. I just try and stay productive. Motivated. Make music. Work on stuff.
