All the other versions seem to have disappeared. I happen to to have the entire 1992 broadcast (with a shaky start and ending) on VHS, with BBC Wales opt-outs. I just need to find a friend who knows how to convert it! Highlights include Beverley Craven performing "Love Scenes", Robert Palmer performing "Ridin' High" and "Love Me Or Leave Me", the casts of Annie Get Your Gun and Five Guys Named Moe. Spectacles include Birds Of A Feather performing "Gotta Get A Gimmick", Casualty performing a medical medley, and Jeff Banks/Bill Owen/Kathy Staff/Caron Keating/Shane Richie/Tony Blackburn/Alan Freeman/Geoffrey Hughes performing a medley of songs, celebrating fashion through the decades. Instead of the CIN song, they opted for a live "jam session" across the regions, led by Marion Montgomery in London. Regional guest artists included Laurie Holloway (piano), Terry Lightfoot (clarinet), The Fairer Sax (saxophones), Keith Chegwin (bass), Barry Forgie (trombone), Sheila Tracey (trombone), Chris Searle (drums), and Ieuan Jones (harp)! They did this two years earlier, with George Melly leading. There was also the "Pudsey Olympics" - an inter-regional quiz, won by Sean Rafferty in Belfast, who correctly guessed that Lady Thatcher was the mystery guest in the final round.
How did they do the Jam session. I have had a slight (major) obsession with the Children in Need Link ups since I was 10. Did they do it like this where they cut between each region and where were the locations (That is if you've sorted it)
So do I... I was at Swindon North Star BT House in 1996 aged 8.. they went live there. And OMC How Bizarre played. I was there. I would love to see it.
@@neiluk2006 Was that definitely 1996 because in 1997 in the line dancing thing here: ua-cam.com/video/fmQajcegQws/v-deo.html (I was born 10 years after that so I have no idea) the group at 1:49 were in Swindon. Also do you know where the Bristol Group was or was that there too because I know BBC South West (after emailing) had their coverage from Towan Beach in Newquay not Plymouth so unless the choir was in a different place was Bristol the same case.
Jimmy Savile would have had a great time if he was allowed into that studio. Terry Wogan banned him from Children in Need from the mid 80s as he found him creepy. Savile had a very awkward interview with Joanna Lumley at one early 80s Children in Need which caused Terry to despise him.
I really like this but I have 3 problems: Newcastle (my region) weren't singing Some of the audio (particularly Newcastle and possibly Belfast) was mostly the studio audio and I think like the actual choirs it should have been the full audio from each choir and that the Gary Wilmot bits should be pre recorded and played over. Not all of them showed the whole choir (Glasgow, Possibly Chatham, Leeds, Newcastle :( ) Other than those really good.
Is anyone able to give a complete list of venues. I have London - BBC Television Centre Glasgow - Old Broadcasting House? Birmingham - BBC Pebble Mill Chatham - Chatham Historic Dockyard Manchester - Arndale Centre Southampton - Not Actually Southampton but Bournemouth at the Bournemouth International Centre Leeds - West Yorkshire Playhouse? Plymouth - Not actually Plymouth but Newquay at the Towan Beach Norwich - On the stairs at BBC Studios on All Saints Green Newcastle - Not actually Newcastle bu Gateshead at the MetroCentre Bristol - I think it's actually Swindon at the North Star BT House Nottingham - Cardiff - On the stairs outside the Broadcasting House Belfast - BBC Blackstaff
Yamato naoe: thank you everyone I have a party like this, I just One thing to say thanks for celebrating with me this is the best birthday ever well so everybody see you next time. Good night! so long
This has lived in my head for years.
I'm so sorry to hear that.
Great to see it in full again after all these years. I wish they would do it again because it's a really good song.
I had a great cooked breakfast at Gary Wilmot’s wedding!
This REALLY needs to done again this year in memory of Sir Terry.
No, it *REALLY* doesn't.
Terry who took money for doing this 🤷♂️
I remember this! Oh god the memories! And I met Gary Wilmot twice such a lovely man! So sweet!
Great to hear the full version again at last
+driverdoozer bring this back love it
It's the kind of song that makes me wish I was deaf.
What a great song!
It's an *APPALLING* song!
All the other versions seem to have disappeared.

I think original jam session was in 1990, with George Melly on vocals. I’ve seen that on YT recently.
2019 and they need to redo this song!
I wish there were full videos of each location

So basically this is an early version of the children in need choir

Wogan did not ban Savile from Children in Need.
Quite a few faces that only a mother could love 🤣
Has anyone got the sheet music for this song? or even the chord chart?
this song was originally used in 1989 but it was reused in 1996
The song was also used in 1990 with David Essex as Solo
0:21 - Wow, it is a young Dan Howell
can you get the full show?

They don't give a sh!t about charity in Newcastle.
I thought they used this song loads in the 90’s?? Was it only this year?
They used it as a cue for Terry and gabby for years
yeah it used to be used on the intros etc
0:21 I bet that kid got bullied mercilessly when he went into school the following week.
3:32 They clearly don't give a sh!t in Newcastle.
Is anyone able to give a complete list of venues. I have

2:18 They're not children.
Didn't realise it was 1996 for some reason I thought it was 89/90
I think the actual song was from 1989 but this version was on Children in Need 1996. (I wasn't alive so I'm not certain)
This was sung, for raising £200 million in 1996
Children in the night garden
Yamato naoe: thank you everyone I have a party like this, I just One thing to say thanks for celebrating with me this is the best birthday ever well so everybody see you next time. Good night! so long
Looks like the kids in Newcastle didn't rehearse..
Because they don't give a sh!t.
3:25 Look at Gary Wilmot giving it everything he's got.
Absolute 🔔end.
Thinks he's Luther Vandross 😂
Anyone know what the song is actually called and who wrote it?
This has lived rent free in my head for nearly 30 years.
It’s a bit cringe and grim.
Who likes Pudsey Bear
No one, apparently.
This is actually from 1989
No its not 1989
The Song Itself Is Actually From 1989 But This Clip Is From 1996!
@@blue_cec2625 haaaaa that actually makes sense and why I thought it was 89
The set definitely looks mid-1990s.
All the cheese. Hated it then... and still do now.
It's one of the most cringeworthy things ever broadcast.
As a disabled woman, I can’t begin to tell you how gross this is. It has haunted me.
How come?
