Well contrary to a previous post I DO LIKE curtain calls like this. Gives the whole production an extra wow factor. But it also is theme relative meaning it wouldn't be something you'd do say at the end of Sweeny Todd.
The curtain call has to match the show. Some are fine with just bows (These are usually older or more serious) Some it’s nice to have a little song at the end (these are usually ones with a huge whole cast number) Some it’s nice to stay in character (these usually match the main plot ie school of rock bows match someone thanking their band at the end of a gig) Some it’s nice to just have fun and dance (these are often less serious shows or match ie of course a musical like newsies would dance as much as possible and same with this show it’s about a school dance after all) Mostly all I want is everyone to get their appropriate thanks for their work in the show.
I can’t believe it’s been a year now since the Prom closed. And yet, NYC is one of my dream cities to visit in my own home country. But now I’m here in honor of the Netflix movie coming in December! The cast album exceeded my expectations
This looks even better than the Hamilton curtain call LIKE IM SHOOK I DID NOT EVEN THINK THAT WAS POSSIBLEEEEE :0!!!!!!! OMG I WANNA SEE THIS NOWWWWWW AND THE SOUNDTRACK IS PERFECTTTT
Perris K. Fortson actually they do free style dancing and it was the best cause it almost looked like it was sort of like a planned dance number but really it was free style and I like it cause it has so much energy
Man, I saw the touring cast of Hamilton (Philip group I think) and they 100% did not dance. Only a few people came out to bow... no music. My mom and I were expecting King George to have an obnoxious, fun and flamboyant exit but it was very, and shockingly, bland. I absolutely adored the show, but after Wicked, Waitress, and Matilda (other show tours I've attended in the last few years) having lively and full cast curtain calls, I was a little surprised Hamilton didn't do more than they did.
The Spongebob curtain call is all freestyle! The theme song plays and everyone dances around, there are even a couple of beach balls floating around in the audience and confetti rains from the ceiling.
Fifi Does Gaming - the spongebob curtain call was literally THE FUNNEST SHIT EVER!!!!! Never would I thought I would be singing the spongebob theme song in a broadway theatre 😂😂
Dogs Ye , I concur if the show is bad.( Mamma Mia for example) I don’t believe in a forced Standing Ovation either. Now I have been to joyous shows where it is completely organic and real. I do feel you.

gramps2matt I agree, I really like when they do something like this but I usually prefer when they sing too like in legally blonde

We didn't bow at ALL after Sweeney Todd. We decided it would ruin the atmosphere .
Amy Clarke When I saw Aladdin, I thought they would do an encore or Friend Like Me.
Lmao imagine the Sweeney Todd cast just dancing around during curtain call 😂😂😂
Roses are red,
Hawk likes to skate,
The cast recording drops in less than three weeks,
And I can't fecking wait.

One of the best curtain calls ever!
yeah but did you ever watch the beetlejuice curtain call?
You’re telling me they do this every night?!?! YAAASS QUEENS!!!
Looks like it. I saw it twice and both times they did it.
I'm just over here watching people having the time of their lives. It's pretty spectacular!
I wish I went to NYC to see this show. It’s my kind of musical when the cast is having a good time on stage as much as the audience is watching it.

@@breannalouis6626 Hamilton had just died. It would not have made any sense to ruin the mood by dancing or singing.

Alyssa should have bowed with Emma

Best curtain call ever!!
They did NOT have to go that hard for a curtain call, but they sure as hell did it for us
I actually saw this when it premiered in Atlanta. LOVED EVERY SECOND! :-)

Unpopular opinion: but I’m not a fan of these type of curtain calls, just bow lol

I feel you.
I don’t care about the curtain call. I just think of the show itself.
