How to pray the Eclipse Prayer

- Many of us might not be aware of the fact that there is a special prayer in Islam to be performed at the time of an eclipse, whether it be a solar or lunar eclipse. In fact, this prayer is Mustahabb and considered highly recommended.
As the Prophet ﷺ said: “If you see the eclipses, then pray and invoke Allah until the eclipse is over”. Bukhari and Muslim
So how do we pray the Eclipse prayer?
1. After making the intention and opening the prayer with Takbirat Al-Ihram, you read Surah Al Fatiha followed by another Surah of your choice. 2. Following this, one must bow and prolong his bowing with extra Tasbih and Duaa’.
3. Then after this, one must stand up again and recite Surah Al Fatihah once more followed by a secondary recitation of the Quran. This is a major difference to normal prayer. Please note it is Sunnah to prolong one’s standing, however one should try to make their first standing longer than their second standing.
4. Then after this, one must bow again, and also prolong his bowing, although not as long as the first.
5. Then after this one continues to pray as normal, by standing back and up and prostrating twice. One must however aim to prolong his Sujood.
6. In the second Rak’aah, one must repeat the same process as in the first, which consists of two sets of standing for Surah Al Fatihah and a Quran recitation along with two sets of Rukoo’ or bowing.
7. Then one must get back up stand and then perform two final Sujoods followed by the Tashahud and Tasleem.
The prayer is two Rak’aat in totality and is recommended to be prayed in congregation. It is also followed by a sermon enjoining people towards righteousness and to leave off sin and vice. If it is for a lunar eclipse, the prayer is recited aloud while if it is a solar eclipse, the prayer is recited to oneself silently. Now of course, there are other valid opinions of how this prayer is performed within the four major schools of fiqh, so its best to follow the lead of your local scholar and avoid unnecessary debates. May Allah make us of those who revive the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in all our actions.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The sun and the moon do not eclipse because of the death or birth of someone, but they are two signs amongst the signs of Allah. When you see them offer the prayer." (Bukhari)

When i heard the story of prophet Muhammad saws when his son ibrahim died and then an eclipse happened and the prophet saws said that we should be praying that’s when i first learned there was such salah then i got curious as to how to pray that’s why i came here

🛑Tirmidhi (2416) from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), who said: “The son of Adam will not move on from standing before his Lord on the Day of Resurrection until he is questioned about five things: about his life and what he did during it, about his youth and how he spent it, about his wealth and from where he earned it and on what he spent it, and what he did with the knowledge he acquired.”
Classed as hasan by Shaykh al-Albaani (may Allah have mercy on him) in Saheeh Sunan at-Tirmidhi.

Gonna pray today as it is hybrid solar eclipse
The was a lunar eclipse two weeks before the April 8th solar. But the lunar eclipse could not be recognized as the moon was going entirely through the prenumbra shadow of Earth (this is not a partial eclipse). The full moon looks only a little faint compared to a regular full moon BUT if you wouldn't know, you would absolutely not recognize the eclipse. Another great sign.

Can you redo the prayer multiple times like in taraweeh?
Muslims back then didn't have science and we these days, perform it, because it's sunnah and to remind us of the might and power of Allah.
The Sahaba thought the solar eclipse happened, because of the death of the prophet's son, but the prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam) told them it is not because of anyone's death. The prophet himself thought that it might be yawm al qiyama and was scared and performed one of the longest prayers with some of the longest sujood he ever did.

Some people say… when there’s an eclipse, the doors of hell opens.. if there’s esclipe on Ramadan(the gates of hell is closed on Ramadan)… what does this say? Also, let’s say there’s esclipe but you didn’t see it only on tv .. so do I need to pray?

I remember that I had learned from some Hadith that one should not kneel down on knees like a camel (like in this video) whilst going from after ruku to do sajdah. Please clarify in this regards.

My question was based upon 'the manner one performs any salah' and in that context of one not kneeling down on knees after completing ruku and going to sajdah as said in some hadith.
