Some people say 77' was the Dead's best year, some people say 72' was the Dead's best year, some people say 89' was the Dead's best year, I agree with all of them! All of the above! If JERRY WAS THERE IT WAS A GOOD YEAR!!! THAT'S MY OPINION AND IM STICKING WITH IT! But seriously, I realize some years were a lot better than others, but when you love a certain musician it really gets you high to hear them play in concert. That being said, sometimes you will take what you can get & still support that person cuz "You know our love will not fadeaway"!

I had the privilege of seeing them practicing in a basement in SF in 68. What fun for a 12 year old. I used to get dropped off at Haight and Ashbury and told where my folks would meet me at a certain time. I'd come home with posters and paraphernalia. What my folks were thinking about back then is beyond me. I think I learned a few things to early. ✌🇺🇸

@@WallofSound65 Well I didn't actually hang out with them. I just wondered into some random house and some pretty good music was going on in the basement. I'd done this many times before. One time when I was 11 my friends Father took us to this little place in Sacramento where they used those old overhead projectors and colored paints between two pieces of clear plastic and squeeze it into the other colors and that being the light show for a band called Jethro Tull. They were a totally new band. People liked thier music. But from what I could hear, they were on their way to becoming something. And I still listen to them. I'd seen a few different people in San Francisco in some of the houses I'd just wonder into. Joplin and Hendrix were in one place just kicking it, but every so often they'd try putting songs together. You know what, I really miss the good old days. I wish I could remember more, but there was so much going on it was hard to keep track of everything. Thanks Wall of Sound for the response and bringing back old memories. ✌

@@moodswingy1973 I would highly recommend reading "On the Road" and "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test" which will explain how The Dead really came to be The Dead. Cheers!

I was at this show and the Springfield show 4-20-77 (?), my 1st show. I remember the whole Garden was dancing wildly. Missed Cornell and Buffalo, alas.

I think 1981 is their most cohesive year but man this is one of my favorite shows of the 70s. There’s something sweet about this year. Those Mississippi half steps were something else

Been a big fan of the Dead since 2014 when i was 14, im 23 now and am just hearing this show for the first time. I have NEVER heard pure incredible energy from them like in this show ever, this show is absolutely INSANE. Im a huge fan of the Cornell ‘77 show, i love that one to death, but this one man.. this one.

As they rolled into Peggy o so sweetly smooth, the echo in Jerry's guitar and voice transported me there and there is where ever that sound, in my head and my ear holes as that magical sound so profound comes to me on the warm afternoon breeze and literaly BLOWS MY HAIR BACK. Feels like home..Awesome quality of a recording of a live show, great work. The Drummers knocking nails into the walls HEY HAPPY BIRTHDAY BILLY....PeaceOrElse

This is my favorite set of theirs ever. I copied it from a cool hippie chick Joni in ‘95. Thx Joni.
