    I had talked myself out of buying a new rifle this year, then I picked up one of these 307s at Scheels and now I'm saving up to buy one. It feels like quality. I love the model 700 interface capabilities, that was great marketing and thinking from Weatherby. The rifle feels lighter than expected, great balance.

    never in 40 years of big game hunting have I ever had to remove the bolt in the field. I appreciate you describing how its done but really. My old remington 300 mag weighs close to 12 pounds with scope and still has a bit of a kick so I would be interested at looking at the new 307. Very informative. thank you.

    I'm all for another weatherby model, but I'm not going to replace my vanguard anytime soon lol. Vanguard is a thousand yard tac driver I've outshot Mark v's at long range ,I had a three shot group at 600 yards almost sub moa and I've never had another rifle that was this capable ! .300 weatherby magnum rules the roost as far as I'm concerned!!!!!

    Just out of curiosity, how many rounds have been down the tube. Most factory rifles need a few boxes to smooth out the barrel. So would it be safe to assume accuracy while good in this video, could get better as you break it in?

    Love the channel. I see so many rifle reviews of long shooting rifles, that’s awesome. I live in southeast alaska. I’d love to see a rifle review of a great rifle for hunting alder bottoms. We have Sitka blacktail deer. They are beautiful however they are a small deer. Ok shouldn’t be to hard…except we have some of the biggest Brown Bear in the world here. I have ran into them all the time, I know 2 people who have been mailed and several who shot to kill. What would be a great lightweight, accurate for blacktail but big enough to stop a big bruin just in case. Keep up the great work

    3.5" @ 328yds is +1moa not sub half moa. Might get sub moa with a different ammo or 3/4" with handloads. Good enough for 90% of hunters though. Sucks that vortex scope isn't 3.5x22. I've got the same scope on my Springfield 2020 in 6.5PRC and it's 1/2" moa with Hornaday precision hunter

    The issue with long range shooting for groups is you always get a flier. This due to many possibilities....cold to a hot barrel while shooting a group, and wind changes during the string. Unless you shoot in an air conditioned tunnel where time is of no consequence, I have started to hold less importance on these anomalies. L/R anomalies are probably wind related, U/D is temperature from my experience from years of load development for my Mark 5, and Sako 75 rifles.

    Here's a tip for you, next time you are on the range and "Forgot" your measuring equipment. Raid your wallet for a piece of American Currency (Washington, Lincoln or a Benjamin). A US paper note is 6" long (6.14" long 2.61" wide to be exact). Fold it in half you get a 3", Fold it again 1.5", fold again .75". More than close enough for in the field measurement estimates. 🤔😉

      @@derekmcmurry Weatherby has their Vanguard, which is essentially a Remington 700 modified to a degree….. A very fine shooting Rifle I might add….. Then there is the Mark V, which a very fine bolt for their priority cartridges….. I personally would have come out with a version of the Winchester Model 70……. It really is the rifleman’s rifle….. I am now almost 69 years of age and have been collecting and shooting rifles for half a century. I have owned Weatherby Mark V’s, Sako 85’s, Remington 600, 660, 700’ a few From the old custom shop, Blazer R8’s, Ruger’s, Browning Abolts, Browning Mauser Supreme both Safari and Medallion versions and others. Now the only rifles in my safe are Winchester Model 70s, a Weatherby Dangerous Game rifle in 300 Wby Mag and the Browning Mausers…….. Remington went broke producing the Model 700. Winchester can not make enough of the Model 70s to begin to satisfy demand….. There are not many Companies producing Mauser long extractor rifles…. They really are superior to the competition…. Do you want to join the competition with a similar product or beat the competition with a superior product.. just my opinion. Have a good day, hell have a good life!!

    • @derekmcmurry
      @derekmcmurry Рік тому +1

      How long ago was that? I had a friend ask me to work up a handload for his 300 Weatherby Mag about 18 years ago. First thing I did was shoot it as I received it with Weatherby factory ammo. Worst rifle I ever shot until earlier this year when I shot a friend's Mossberg Patriot in 308. I didn't think a rifle could get worse than 5" groups at 100 yards but I was wrong after shooting the Mossberg.
      I loaded up several handloads for that Weatherby and it would not do better than 3-4" groups at 100. It was a complete factory configured, blued, wood stock Weatherby. I don't know what model. During my dreadful experiences with it, I said to myself multiple times that Weatherby charges an arm and a leg for their products to be pimping such a crappy shooter.
      The 307, if nothing more than a Remington 700 clone, may or may not be worth it, even if only buying the action. That would depend on price of course. Bergaras are nothing but a 700 also, so even if someone plans to build something on it, they still have to have their builder completely blueprint the action and bolt face. Might as well go with a Stiller, or similar custom clone
      All that said, I would like to give this 307 a fair chance and watch for future videos and reviews. From the 328 yard group, I'm impressed so far

At least they fixed the stupid remington extractor. The Wby flat receiver & recoil lug is the best action for epoxy bedding. The company must be in decline and in panic mode to do this.
