My mom had this pot for 15 years and I never knew it made espresso till now. You just saved me a ton of money from going out and buying an espresso machine.
Thank you. I just received this type of coffee maker as a gift & wasn't sure how to use it. Now I know! BTW, who cares what you call it, if it's unclean or whatever...the point was to show how to use this machine, which this video does well. And it didn't take 10 (or even 30!) minutes to do so. Kudos for making a clear, concise & informative video!
Same thing happened to me! The heat was too fierce and the pot exploded putting hot coffee all over my kitchen ceiling and walls etc! The mess it made was impressive and I had to redecorate my kitchen.
Tips from a coffee maker research consultant: 1. Place coffee in filter before placing filter into moca pot. 2. Pre-heat water in separate pot then add the hot water to moca pot just prior to brewing. 3. Clean top part of moca pot between uses for the cleanest, most consistent taste, pot after pot.
Been making espresso this way since I can remember and it comes out 1000 times better then any espresso machine you buy. Old school baby. Some people don't know what their missing if they never tried it.
My husband has this cup and he makes what he calls "cuban coffee" 🤣🤣🙌 this entire time we've been drinking straight expresso no wonder his Cuban friend said that's all his uncle needed to get through his day
This is the original way to make an espresso. Black espresso with Sambuca! Sambuca is a Italian anise flavoured liqueur. The Sambuca is the alternative of sugar!
Great! I didn't know it was that simple. Lol😅I should know this stuff naturally being Italian, but I was born in the UK so never really asked my late mum how she did this each morning. Now I know thanks!😀
Stove top makes long/short black shot of espresso. The temperature should be 190 to 196 degrees fahrenheit. You can have espresso two ways. Choice of stove top or machine. Black or crema.
Nice tutorial. How do you get out the filter once you are done?!?! It is like to take it out I have to shake it down. Or put my nails or a knife (even harder) Thanks for your help
I'm so glad it's this easy. Just bought one today for my coffee bar because it matched the decor (pink) but i don't like having too many decorative pieces that don't have functionality. I wanted to be able to use it some times. One question i have is what kind of coffee? Thanks!
It must be medium-fine ground coffee. Most espresso is too fine. But these are ground to work perfectly in the moka pot or espresso machine: illy Classico Espresso, Lavazza Qualitá Rossa, and Lavazza Crema e Gusto. See the moka pot video by Annalisa J.
I think its more coffee then an espresso as an espresso is made only from an espresso machine. Because I make coffee in moka pot every day, I'd recommend that you make sure that the water that is filled in the bottom chamber is boiling hot. Still I love some taste aspects of coffee made out of moka pot to an espresso machine. Both are great.
These coffee or espresso makers are found in any shop that sells kitchen stuff. Forget Amazon support local business I bought mine for $10.00 at Stokes
Help. I usually make this using mineral water and let it boil for two minutes or so, but the coffee is always really light and has an odd salty aftertaste. What can I do to make sure it’s made proper?
No, most espresso is grind fine so it's much too fine for the moka pot. Bialetti says to use medium-fine. These coffees are going to work perfectly in both the espresso machine and the moka pot: illy Classico Espresso, Lavazza Qualitá Rossa, and Lavazza Crema e Gusto. Watch the moka pot video by Annalisa J.
Hey Joey great tutorial. I searched for a tutorial on how to make espresso at home and I can’t stop laughing that your video came up and we share the same name. What are the odds My middle name is Joseph and last Name Papa, maybe related.
To add, I have used this type of pot for 20 years. It gets stained quickly after each use BECAUSE - of the coffee oils coating the top part from the steam pressure. That wasn't the point people, it was to show how to use it. I don't get all the negitive comments... 🤔 My advice to the critical few, keep supporting STARBUCKS! HAHAHAHA!
The pot is SUPPOSED to get stained (seasoned) over time from repeated coffee making. Thats actually what you want. The flavour of the coffee a stained pot vs a shinny brand new pot is much better. I heard italian families hand their stained pots down from one generation to the next instead of alway buying new ones.
Hope somebody can help me out with my question, do you use regular coffee grounds like for a coffee machine, or is there special espresso coffee grounds?
I've seen those coffee makers for many years and never knew how they worked until I saw this! Dunno why. I always thought the water goes in the top and the pressure release valve in the bottom was where you plug in a power adapter!!! I'm going out and buying one.
To this day I have not seen even a little bit of crema from any of my mocca makers. Maybe if you only use robusta beans... but that would taste kind of crappy.
Pour a little of the coffee into a container with one teaspoon of sugar per cup of water. The mixture should still be granular, more sugar than coffee so it's a slurry, not a liquid. Mix it thoroughly until the sugar starts to dissolve. Once that is done pour in the rest of the coffee. It should make a crema.
Kevin Concha Watch any video on making Cuban coffee. Most of them will demonstrate how to make crema. First drops of percolated coffee goes in to container of sugar. Once the mixture is frothed by vigorous mixing then add spoonfuls to serving cups.
My mom had this pot for 15 years and I never knew it made espresso till now. You just saved me a ton of money from going out and buying an espresso machine.
I thought it just made regular coffee. That’s why I never bothered to ask.
Same taste like expresso machine ?

Yup, but i wonder for how many minutes it should be ready to drink

Same thing happened to me! The heat was too fierce and the pot exploded putting hot coffee all over my kitchen ceiling and walls etc! The mess it made was impressive and I had to redecorate my kitchen.
I was making it on Maximum heat until I saw this Video today. Looks like I had good luck.

Thanks. But could you please explain how each of the tips you provided improves coffee quality? TIA
Any other tips?
This how most Italians in Italy and outside Italy make their espresso at home, who don’t own an espresso machine .
I thought this was how poeple throughout the world made their espressos, every household has one of these here in North Africa.

Good info. Nice. Right to the point. Thanks much.
Actually tap water (from safe sources) yields tastier coffee because the minerals give the coffee more to bind to
Thank you very much, I was never clear how to make espresso.

VVVVVV NICE

Question: how do I know all the water, from the bottom container, has boiled up to top container, and it's ready to be served?
He said it'll make a sound as water will be boiled upto top

that's a Moka coffee i.e home espresso with no crema, using 1.5 bar of pressure.

Can you use any coffee to make expresso?
Thank you very much for the info and demo.
You did not say when to take the pot off the stove. When it starts to steam or when all the steam has gone through?
I have the same question. Ie can you overlook it in this type of machine, should you take it off the heat as soon as the coffee has filled the top?
Thank you for the information

Help. I usually make this using mineral water and let it boil for two minutes or so, but the coffee is always really light and has an odd salty aftertaste. What can I do to make sure it’s made proper?
Bialetti says to cook it on low or medium-low heat. Low works perfectly on the gas stove, but for electric stoves I think medium-low is best.
The beans have to be ground to fine/espresso right?
No, most espresso is grind fine so it's much too fine for the moka pot. Bialetti says to use medium-fine.

Do you have to use powder ground coffee or just like bagged ground coffee? I am new to coffee drinking and want to try it...
Has to be a fine ground.
Is it possible to get that creamy texture and foam on top with mocha pot? Or is it just with machines?
What grind ? Super fine ? Any favourite beans ?
Bialetti says to use medium-fine. The best pre-ground coffees to try are illy Classico Espresso, Lavazza Qualitá Rossa, and Lavazza Crema e Gusto.
