Oh man.. this takes me back! Christmas morning 1981 **EARLY** ... still the best Christmas I in memory. I was forced to give to the neighbour’s kid some years later.. however I found another complete one recently and I just love looking at it!
This is one of the only playsets that I got back in the day and kept in the box. And yes, it's Palitoy! The other one was the Rebo Band but it's a solid tri-logo box, not the Kenner window box. 👍
The rebel base is under attack! As Vader and his troops arrive in full force, rebel soldiers are scattered around the snow terrain of Hoth. It's almost nighttime as Vader returns to his ship and the rebels regroup and unleash a ferocious counter-attack to retake their base!! What a great play set!! Unfortunately, it is hard to find it complete brother, especially with a box. But as an ESB lover, it is a must for me to get one!!!
got this one for Christmas as a kid when it came out along with my Empire Falcon same Christmas- great toys I still have with mint boxes too! It was supposed to read Imperials Attack(verb) Base! but so much stuff was being made before the movies came out so they werent sure what the title was to be.
That’s great info! Thanks! That pretty awesome that you still have your original box in mint shape. That is a rarity in itself! Thanks for watching my friend 🙏
I think you are referring to the land of the Jawas perhaps? That one was also used by a multitude of bases made for The Rebel Command center, and the Hoth ice planet Playset, but I can totally see Kenner reusing this for tatooinne! Just paint it brown and have it be where R2 get captured by the Jawas in the ravine!
I feel like this is a set in everyone's collection. Whether it's complete is another story. Lol. Always fun to rewatch these playset breakdowns/builds. My only complaint about the set is the name of it, as we know it should be for the Rebels. 🤣
Thanks Josh! Yes I’m on a little break so re-editing these is what I have to do right now in order to get some rest but still be able to provide some videos while I heal up my body.
This is technically not the "Imperial Attack Base," but the Hoth rebel trench. I never figured that out until I saw the gun resembling the ones seen in the trench, and it's not the tripod laser gun that was actually in the film and released as a separate accessory in 1982. The collapsing bridge should have been the Wampa cave with foot pegs so Luke could be hung upside down.
That’s a really good point Rich! I believe I read somewhere that the Kenner marketing dept liked to keep a fair distribution of Empire vs Rebel toys, so maybe they released this as an Imperial playset to keep the distro even? That’s my guess
I'd like to have this in my collection, but I'd put Rebel figures in it. The reason why I think this is under the title "Imperial Attack Base" and not "Echo Base" is because they didn't have any walkers available at the time as they weren't released until 82. Thanks for demonstrating how to build this. Thanks for the video
Sorry, I never saw the need for this play set. It just looks like a cheap way for Kenner to garner more revenue. Anyway, this is just my certain point of view.
I hope this video both helps and entertains!! Thank you for watching and please subscribe for more videos like this.
I just used it as a rebel base lol

So glad you got another one! This is one of the funnest playsets! I recently took it out of the box and played with it again lol
This was my favorite playset back in the day. Now that I'm collecting vintage figures again, I'm gonna need to track it down.
It’s actually fairly easy to find and in whatever condition you are looking for. All price ranges. 🙌🏼
This is definitely on our wishlist.
It’s honestly one of the funnest playsets to set up and use as a diorama 🙌🏼
Great description Joey !
Thanks Pascal 🙏🙌🏼
I dreamed about this set as a child. it just wasn't in the shops where I lived. I never saw this in any shop I ever went to
There a so many of them out there now and in whatever condition you are looking for, so good for every budget

Aww I would love to get the tri logo rebo box! That one is a treasure!

@@thepadawancollectorofficial You can have hours of play with this set. The only limit it's your imagination!

I don't have this in my collection. I hope I can find one. Great video discription.
Thanks Scott!
Nice set! I picked one up at a local store for $36 last year. Just missing the insert and instructions. Remarkably clean.
That’s a great deal for this set! Thanks for watching James! MTFBWY
Cool play set, but it's funny that the Empire didn't even have time to build an attack base😂
😂
This is so cool, I just bought this set this week. Great shape. Dumb name, should have been "Hoth attack base".
Haha I agree! I even place the turret Playset next to it and use the imperial attack base as the rebel trench scene
This was also used as a Tatooine playset also if I'm not mistaken.

I think so. It's been a while. I had this growing up.

@@thepadawancollectorofficial For sure buddy. Gotta get all healed up & back to 💯.

I think you are right! I also think they were trying to balance out releases of Rebel vs Empire toys.
Lets Go!
Let’s go! Haha it’s me talking to myself. How meta is that??

I think a lot of people share your point of view. This was a playset that wasn’t fitted into the movie exactly
