This is one of my top 3 favorite foundations. However…while we have similar skin tone and type, my skin is almost 49 years old. I think that’s where the difference comes in. I find the La Mer foundation to actually get better as the day goes on, and I always get compliments when I wear it. Speaking of skin tone, we generally wear the same shade in foundations and I have this in shade 120 Ivory. I would never say that someone must have a $135 foundation, BUT if you have more mature (older/aging), dry, sensitive skin AND this is on your budget, I would recommend at the very least getting a sample and giving it a try. I don’t think it’s a great fit for 20-something year old skin.
Totally agree…and I am 58!
I agree. I'm 52, dry and sensitive skin....I really like it and one Pump is all I need.
I'm 50 and I really appreciate your advice!!! I've been on the fence but, I think I'm going to try the sample (if I can find it). I have very oily skin & have had such a hard time finding the right foundation my entire life. 🤷🏼
I’ve literally never met anyone who uses LaMer products, from when I was in my early 20s to where I am now (mid 30s). I’ve also had multiple estheticians tell me that brand is nothing special and obscenely overpriced. I’ve always been curious about their line, but after everything I’ve seen/heard over the years, I’ll continue to avoid it 🤣 always fun to watch you try new things!
I'll NEVER pay that much for a foundation (or any makeup) LOL!!! But I love to see Allie try it haha ❤❤
Same! I thought $40 is alot for my It Foundation Your Skin but Better, but it works well for my dry skin. I'll stick with that!
No way I would pay that much on foundation , I do like Allie's review & demo on it though ❤
I thought that as well. It's in the same price bracket as Tom Ford shade and illuminate and Cle de Peau foundations. Anything over £100 is way out of most people's price range.
Thats what i use too say and thousands of dollars later i have a whole makeup collection just because i like the way it looks in my room cause im allergic to makeup 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
Hard pass for me. I have a sample in shade Ivory. Scent was too much and didn’t look phenomenal on my dry skin. Lisa Eldridge’s foundation for me blows this out of the water. Thanks for your honest and great review!!! Xoxox
Is the Lisa Eldridge foundation matte or natural? Do you use a primer with it? Or a powder or setting spray?
@@yasminister2011 hi- I think it has a natural to matte finish, not drying matte at all. Best to use your fingers to apply but you can use a brush if you prefer. It melts into the skin. No need for primer. It doesn’t have to be set with powder but normally I like to use just a very small amount. It’s really a gorgeous product and 1 pump (which is small) is enough for your whole face. Hope this helps!
@@kellysmith5105 thank you so much. It does help :) xox
I have been tempted for years, but the long lasting fragrance is a deal breaker. Thanks for letting us know! You're the best❣
It's pretty bad...I don't mind fragrance as it doesn't affect my skin, but I just don't like this particular fragrance and I can smell it all day. It's the only reason I don't wear my La Mer every day, but it is one of my favorite finishes.
Your eyes are so spectacular!!!!
That’s really all you need to look gorgeous💕💕💕
You always try your best to be complimentary to the brands you try, glad you said your viewers don’t need this foundation😊
I just bought this foundation as well and I feel it actually is “good for my skin” because after I take it off, my skin feels softer and nourished. I don’t know, hard to explain. Love your videos💜
So true, i feel the same way. It's the only foundation that does that, and I wear many many foundations but the minitue I put the La Mer, I get so many compliments and everyone wants to know if I wear make-up.
Exactly! It’s also one of the few foundations that last on my skin all day and is not a matte finish.
This is my everyday foundation, I am on my 3rd bottle. I have never noticed a scent or fragrance. Doesn’t bother me at all. I am 46, dry skin and it looks great on my skin. People always stop and ask what I have on my skin. Pat McGrath is my second in line.
I'm shocked you can't smell it!! I LOVE this foundation too but even after my COVID loss of taste and smell, it was one of the first scents that came back, unfortunately, lol. Still doesn't stop me from it wearing it, but I wish it was different. Agree people tell me my skin looks great when I'm wearing it (I'm 55).
Pat Mc grath is my first foundation (I switch between L2 and L3 year-long) because it is a closer tone match and this is second in line for me. Shade 100 porcelain is !barely! light enough for me, and it isn't cool toned at all. Actually quite yellow (for me this is good, it matches my undertone very nicely) but did anyone else find this odd? I mean, they advertise shade 100 as cool toned. Imagine my surprise. And also, shade 120 (which I originally thought would be a better match) is quite pink and dark.
You truly make anything gorgeous. You already have a natural beauty to you as well girl. I’m a new fan & loving it 🤍
Love seeing you try some luxury makeup! Thanks to all of the comments I might actually
Want to try this foundation! Super helpful!
I love the Dior lip glow balm they leave such a nice shade on lips and the texture is amazing!
Thank you very much for giving us your real opinion as you always do. This is why I watch you also bc of your personality mainly ( your kindness). Im so glad to hear your experience with this and gosh thousands? Of foundations. I love how you told us WHY you chose color 1 and 4 on A consealer- I never thought to really buy based on the undertone even if its really light or dark and just mix. I have ended up doing that sorta on accident but I dont naturally think about it so that is very helpful esp for a neutral girl that I feel one day I look more cool and the next a bit more warm depending on my clothing. Im going to try out mixing more in my fav ( inexpensive) formulas based on the undertone in going for.
I did the very same thing!!! I’ve wanted it for several years and I finally got it with the Sephora coupon. I love love it!!!! That’s rather a bad thing when the bottle comes up empty!! The shade was perfect and honestly I only need 1/2 pump.
I didn’t smell anything with mine!
I had the same first impression, BUT, over time I grew to LOVE it. It’s beautiful on camera and in photos. It’s a subtle difference from other foundations but I can definitely see the difference in a positive way. I actually love the scent but I can see how others might not like it. I only buy it on sale that’s for sure. Thanks for sharing. ✨🥰
I love the scent as well and yes it comes out looking so nice in pictures and in videos.
I love the La Mer foundation. I had the first initial reaction with the scent. I thought I had a bad one. It went away after a few uses. It looks gorgeous on you.
I have the La Mer foundation - I absolutely LOVE IT! To me - it covers nicely but still looks natural. I will continue to buy it as long as I am able to.
It is my absolute favorite foundation. I have been using it for years. I was on a business trip and had a long day and went out to dinner. A colleague said your sling looks spectacular! It is my work foundation especially when I had meetings. The scent is from the broth…I actually love it and especially in the crème
Nice to see you trying some luxury but I agree, high end foundations do seem to have too much fragrance and that always disappointments me as well. Thank you for sharing.
I love it, but I’m 45 and I love the finish and the formula. People always compliment my skin when I wear this. Which has never happened in my life! I will only by this during the Sephora sale. I would think if you’re younger this isn’t going to wow you.
49 here and agree
I'm 63 and I agree also. I also loved the moisturizer when I lived in Colorado which is so dry. I live in Florida now, and it's too humid to wear any of the la mer products here.
46 here with dry skin and I am on my 3rd bottle. Never sits in my fine lines and people always asks what I am wearing.
@@lorileblanc616 Yep, me too and i turned 50.
Well, that does it! You’ve talked me into it! Do you have dry/oily skin?
Ooh, just started the video, and SO excited to see the Dior bronzer in the description box again, I just bought it, so I'm all about watching you use it again lol
Love it ! Use it for special occasions!
I bit the bullet and bought the LaMer cushion foundation and the regular tube foundation in 120 ivory and LOVE IT!!!! Your shade Allie is probably the 140 Alabaster
You really should model or act. You have a timeless beauty to you and this is one of my favorite looks you’ve done. Truly stunning and ethereal. Reminds me of Liv Tyler in Lotr
If you end up not returning or exchanging the foundation, you can always pick up the LA girl Foundation colour changer in white to make the foundation lighter.
Works like a charm.❤❤
I have this foundation and love it! It does have a strong fragrance to it but so does L’Oréal’s Freshwear.. I love a natural skin finish foundation and this works on my mostly dry skin type. I do think the finish of this is fairly close to Physicians Formula Healthy foundation, Lancome Teint Idole and also similar to Giorgio Armani Luminos Silk. So of you like any of those I would think a person could like this as well.
hi allie im so excited that your trying this...i always see patrick ta using this on his channel and i wanted to try it but i just cant afford it...also i think that this shade look very natural on you, like you could skip bronzer and it would look super natural, idk if it just the studio lights but i think the shade you have is very flattering on you
I actually love the shade!
Even though you did t love it, it was fun to see you try something you’ve always wanted to!
I absolutely love this foundation!
Hi Allie love you!! Hope you have a Merry Christmas! I know you are another person like me who absolutely loves all things Glittery and Sparkly! I think you would love the Holo Taco Brand Nail Polishes, specifically the shades Gold Play Button, Rainbow Snow, and Play Rose! Its such a great formula too like the Lights Formula but packed with Holo Glitter and Sparkle!! :)
Hey Allie, thank you for being so honest. Actually, I always wanted to try this foundation but always hesitate for the same reason, “price point” obviously. And now I feel kind of relieved😂😂. Please kindly do a wear test on clé de peau as well. Loooove you sooooo much❤️
Sisley is insanely priced too
La Mer is my absolute favorite foundation. I have dry, sensitive skin and love the feel and finish. I love a light coverage. If builds well to medium but couldn’t say it’s good for full coverage people since I haven’t tried it that way. I’ve been using it for 6 years now. Started at 25 and now I’m 31 😁
You looked marvelous, I could not see the imperfections or be bothered by the "scent" of course. I was most impressed with the BLUSH and LIP COLOR! I'm putting those in my cart to try, and it still won't be anywhere near the cost of the La Mer :) I can never get over the beautiful lashes you have, mine have forever been wimpy. I do like the new mascara I have (Essence Lash Princess Waterproof)- very inexpensive and lovely. Thank you for a wonderful video as always!
It is my favorite, to die for, foundation. The finish is natural and skin like with a soft glow.
I could never spend that much on a foundation. I do love the Dior lip glow on you...I’ve had the light pink in my Sephora shopping cart at least 5 times, but I always delete it because it’s so expensive! 💕🇨🇦
Allie, I'm so glad you tried out this foundation. I've always wanted it, but not anymore. I am really interested in that lip glow though.
Can you do an updated video for a full face of wet n wild and/or any other affordable drugstore brand of your choice? Merry Christmas and happy new year to you and your loved ones ♥️
I caved as well and I LOVE it! Only use for special occasions so I have worn it maybe 5 times lol. Thanks for the review love to see up review any and all makeup!! Thank you 😊
I love how real you are I trust you with every review ugh💜
The history of the man who made the La Mer brand is super shady and he was more like snake oil salesman. La Mer is an example of the first pre-internet “viral” marketing scheme because he was the first person to give his products to stars in Hollywood. There’s nothing in the ingredients that would justify this price. Anyone can buy anything that they want, but this is this just plain old overpriced.
Hey Kari, I've read the same thing about La Mer, mainly about how the expensive cream is not worth the price.
I heard the company plays music for their products.
Brianna Stanko did a comparison recently of the La Mer cream and found the ingredients in it and Nivea Creme at the drugstore are nearly identical. The snake oil thing is real
@@beth4378 I read an article about that very thing.
@@genietillery878 I purchased that cream, close to 200.00 and that was back in the 90's. The smell is grotesque and the cream is equally awful. I really don't like LeMer.
Allie, thank you so much for your genuine review!! I enjoyed seeing this so I can know if it's worth it in the future. Glad you got to try it. = )
Hi Allie I just wanted to say I love your content and videos. Love you Allie 💕
Have an amazing day.
Love your vids! Been trying eye shadow looks for the first time and been enjoying watching your vid to see how to go about applying it properly lol! Anyway, I would love to see you do a vid on all products from Fenty beauty by Rihanna and see what you think. I've been wanting to get more from the line. I recently got her Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Setting Powder & Match Stix Matte Contour Skin stick and so impressed!
I love that foundation!
Never been this early to one of your videos before! It looks really beautiful and natural!!!
Looks beautiful I’ve not tried this foundation it’s a bit pricey pleased you tried it 😍
Just started using my colorpop foundation and im very happy...performing as well as high end!
I love your videos! Thank you for trying this product! (On a completely different topic, your voice is beautiful and rich, but I do worry about how often you dip into vocal fry. Even if you don’t sing, this can be damaging long-term. I apologize if I’m overstepping by mentioning this. A speech or vocal coach can really help.) thank you, again for your awesome content!
Have you tried hydrocortisone cream on your dry patches when you moisturize before makeup? I get dry patches near my nose and my eyebrows and it helps SO much!!
I love my la Mer foundation and loose and pressed powder. The old school moisturizer and the toner are the best. Too pricey to use all the time for me…but so glad I took the plunge when I did. It was worth it. All I’ve tried seems made for my skin:)
I love your honesty!!!Great review kisses from Greece!!!
I tried the LaMer and I like it. It lasts really well on my aging skin (60). The price is pretty steep, but it's good. Have you tried the Cle De Peau? Similar but the coverage is better in my opinion.
Love your videos, and have a Happy New Year!!!
I actually really like the color on you it look like you have a natural tan. Beautiful 😍
After watching other videos by Allie when she’s wearing a foundation such as L’Oreal Infallible, which looks so incredible on her beautiful skin, I felt that this foundation really fell short. I felt that as a viewer watching, I wasn’t “wowed” by this foundation. You’d expect a $135 foundation to have some wow factor, but I truly think many drug store foundations bring so much more to the table.
I'm inspired to try this fresh faced look.
Hi Allie, i can tell you that this foundation is incredible for me. I fought it for ages bc of the price. However for dry 40s skin is incredible finish, smooths out pores , it's radiant without grease for dry skin and it wears for 10 to 12 hours. Its my HG foundation.
Hi Allie thank you for this review.
I love this on you. It’s so pretty.
Lip color is soo pretty
I think it looks amazing on you! I’ve also been on the verge of buying it (for a long time). Have you tried the Cle de Peau foundation?
Its a great skin care foundation as well ❤
Ha! I have an interview with La Mer at Bloomingdale’s coming up! Super happy to see this!
The foundation color looked just fine. The 120 would have been too light. I think it looks very nice. You work hard, Allie, you’re allowed to treat yourself every now and again. 💚💫❤️💫💚
Hey Allie! I know you did a mix items (2 items) makeup review a few months ago.
I wanted to let you know I randomly decided to do this with the HUDA F. Filter Foundation and a liiitle bit of LA Girl HD foundation! Looks sooo good.!!!!!
Just wanted to pass on the advise. Lol.
The little bit of La GiRl HD gives the skin the hydration need, yall! Try it! 🙏🏻☺️
Thanks
That lip color is AMAZING on you! And the foundation looked very pretty as well. I finally broke down and bought it, too, if only because I like the cream--I don't get it regularly because it's not worth the money to me, but I do like occasional use, especially when my face is feeling super dry and/or I'm having trouble with redness. La Mer cream seems to really help with those issues. I noted the therapeutic feel of the foundation too, interesting. My skin seems to like it and that is NOT always the case.
I think it's a good foundation too, but like you, I don't think ANY foundation's worth $135. (If anyone super wants it, sometimes you can find a sealed tester on EBay for about $75. Just make sure you know the shade, since the company's added/changed shade names in recent years.) I'm not sorry I bought it though, because it feels and wears great on my dry, sensitive, slightly aging skin and tbh I've probably bought so many foundations that did NOT work at all and couldn't be returned, that the overall expenditure was the same or worse. ;-) I hope that if you decide to keep it that you go back and exchange for the correct shade. Makes it more worth it lol.
I can't believe how expensive La Mer is as a brand overall. I was thinking how expensive Pat Mcgrath and Natasha Denona were, but La Mer is another level of price!
Yeh but if y live in Australia like I do
The price of that lamer foundation is around same price as the pat McGrath foundation less cheap and the foundation lamer is more expensive
Hey Lava
I liked the la mer foundation but am with you about the scent! In fact, I sold mine on Poshmark bc I hated the smell of it that much! It was years ago and lol I have been thinking of caving and getting it again! Perhaps I’ll just live vicariously through you and let my wallet can stay in tact a bit longer 😂 sending lots of ❤️
The Dior lip balm reminds me of the Clinique black honey lipstick!!
Burts Bees tinted lip balm in Red Dahlia is a dupe!
I actually think that color is perfect for you at least on camera 📸 but your skin is absolutely beautiful and you’ve been blessed with the most beautiful eyelashes! And you weren’t kidding you do stay up late, we should be text buddies lol I’m up late too because I suffer with chronic pain and it’s hard because I’ll be watching UA-cam all night while my adorable husband is trying to get sleep to be at work at 5am 😇.. even if I disregarded the price I wouldn’t be able to purchase it because of your honesty on letting us know about the smell and how it lingers I suffer from chronic migraines that are triggered by smells and taste. Thank you for your beautiful reviews much love all the way from Arizona
I’m glad you finally bought La Mer foundation something that you’ve been wanting to try. I love the look 😍 Love your honesty. Jessica Braun did a dupe video & she found a dupe for La Mer Foundation from drugstore which is Physicians Formula The Healthy Foundation she compared both & it turned out to be a dupe. I would love to see you do a comparison video on La Mer Foundation & Physician Formula The Healthy Foundation & see what you think about it.
The PF Healthy Foundation (my favorite ever) was discontinued! I'm looking for a dupe for when my backups run out, but definitely not at this price point.
I'm happy, that you bought and tried it. I was very happy with it when I used it. But maybe the colour would match better for you in the summer time? Don't give up.
It's so interesting to hear your opinion, and I like how you said it filled your curiosity. But, you look so beautiful as usual but , ware that foundation if you enjoy the feeling, because you look amazing!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I love this foundation and how my skin looks while wearing it. I am on my third bottle. I do not mind the scent at all.
I’ve bought it before once…ONCE😂😂😂 it’s really great stuff! The moisturizers are my favorite, a little goes a long way:)
This is the prettiest look I've seen on you!
Hello Mandy
I love la mer foundation and Tom Ford shade and illuminate they are very expensive but excellent 🥰
You should try the Lamer Treatment Lotion. The best essence I have ever tried.
My best foundation ever ❤️
I’m shade 120 and I’m a similar skin tone to you. It is my favorite foundation and I wear everything from high end to drugstore.
"A dollar a pump" 😂 I just laughed so hard at that.
I first got a sample of this at Nordstrom a couple years ago and it was $120 then, and I just couldn’t bring myself to spend that much on foundation. Now, they’ve raised the price. As if it weren’t already too expensive! So now that it’s $135, it’s an even harder pass for me. But love to see you try it out!
I love LaMer. Never tried the foundation, but have used the skincare for 25 years. It is bomb. No, it’s not like “Nivea” 😂
That Dior lippie looks exactly like Clinique Black Honey. Such a beautiful shade on everyone.
I’d love to know your thoughts about that new Valentino foundation Sephora dropped recently
Oh how I LOVE La Mer!! My holy grail, it lasts a very long time and there is a perfect shade in their foundation range for me. Always keep a back up. I also really enjoy La Mer The treatment lotion.
As always, I appreciate your honesty. We can always count on you for that, and that goes a very long way. Thank you. I was contemplating this foundation, and the scent alone is a HUGE turnoff. Your other comments only reinforce that no, this is not for me at all.
I tried mine for the first time ever today! I love it
That foundation better fix all my problems for that price 😂😂😂😂 I love how it looks on you though! 💖 I absolutely hate scented foundations, and my skin does too 😭 breaks me out every time!
You looked beautiful wearing the Bourjois a few days ago. You look beautiful now, but you don't need to have this product to make you look amazing. I almost bought the Tom Ford concealer then gave the Nyx a try and it did the job! Take care and thanks for your upbeat, positive vibes.
I saw a tip to use an eyeshadow primer (with a more waxy finish) on the more oily portions of your face to help make a barrier that would last all day
I love this foundation! It’s my holy grail! I was surprised when you said you picked up 150- as that’s my shade, and I’m darker than you (and I’m light neutral).
The LaMer foundation has also been on my radar for years but like you I just couldn't justify the $$. I'd also had my eye on another quite expensive one that I'd sampled and loved but passed too bc of $. But had a similar situation happen. I was in Dillard's one weekend and surprised to find some random, highly unusual sale in higher end makeup so at that point I gave in & bought it. Funny thing was, I coveted it so much I barely wore it. Lol. I "saved" it for more "special occasions but tbh, special events are a thing of the past for me anymore. Lol. Really was pretty tho . ❤️🤣
I have LOVED La Mer foundation for years (the shade you tried is my match) but now that I’m a mother, I’ve been feeling slightly guilty that the price tag is so high. I have always found that this foundation keeps me well-hydrated, my skin luminous, and it has always worn well for me throughout the day. I’ve tried so many other foundations out of me feeling over the high price tag but have kept coming back to La Mer (and feeling frustrated that if I hadn’t tried those foundations, I could have just purchased my actual La Mer shade and called it a good day)… UNTIL Lisa Eldridge’s The Foundation came onto the scene!
I feel the bottles are incredibly similar, the formula is well-hydrating and sinks in beautifully into the skin the way the La Mer foundation has always done for me as well and the price (while still not being drug store) is about half of what my La Mer Foundation is.
For those looking for the luxury and skincare of La Mer with half the cost, Lisa Eldridge is your new Holy Grail!!
So excited to hear your thoughts on this one!!❤️❤️
looks beautiful on you:)
I’m 62 and have really good skin, and I just can’t spend that on a foundation. I could, but I won’t. I’ve tried it in samples and I didn’t think it was especially earth shattering.
The plum Dior balm looks like their version of Clinique's Black Honey :)
You’re so pretty!
You bring me comfort.
I've tried it and like it. It lasts all day for me. The shades are off in terms of the description. I had to exchange the first bottle for a lighter shade. I only use 1 pump so it provides a light sheerer coverage. I didn't notice any fragrance so I'm not sure if fragrance just doesn't bother me or if your bottle is off a bit. I have mature skin so it does settle a bit into smile lines but all foundations do for me. Overall, I really like it. I'm not sure I'll purchase again when this bottle is empty as I do have other foundations that I like just as well that are less expensive.
