What you have presented is not happening. You are talking in America where GM sell their Bolt. BYD do not sell their Seagul in the U.S. let alone at $10,000. Comparisons of vehicles in different markets are like comparing Chalk with Cheese.
Average wage in China is $11,000 so that's why it will cost that cheap there, it won't be in America and Europe

BYD, isn't sold in the US with that being said, BYD isn't TESLA and this is why they aren't selling in europe at their high prices. Everyone is always talking about how affordable BYD is ($10000 usd) but they are sell these cars everywhere else at Tesla prices and no one is buying. Not only are their prices to high for their products their safety and maintenance are to low and to high respectively
The BYD Seagull has the features most customers want in affordable city cars. If the price is right. Customers will make it a best-selling ev. In markets like Australia and NZ, it will sell.

Bottom line dealers are overpricing this vehicle out of the hands of regular buyers these companies need to allow individuals to import new ev instead of allowing dealers only to carry in these new ev.. In my country only one dealer carries byd and they are selling it for about 38k usd. Break the monopoly. They are just plain rip off

In 2022 32% of bought BYD 2022 vehicles went up in flames, those statistics are troubling to say the least. Take its claims with a grain of salt.

I have never understood why EV should be more or as much expensive as internal combustion ones. At the end the gearbox, transmission and so on are hugely more complex than two electric engines, one per wheel. Just try RC cars to find out complexity and prices!

You are correct for not understanding. EV's should be MUCH less expensive. If GM wouldn't have ended the EV1 in 1993 this vid would be made by GM and they would own the EV market. Corporate Greed has all but killed the American auto makers. If ford or GM built a $10.000 EV they would sell many Millions in the first year. I'm tired of bending over and taking it from big oil.
@@stevehall7555 Actually, GM and Ford would probably only sell a few thousand, not millions. Americans don't want tiny city cars, just trucks, crossovers and SUVs. There's only 3 cars under $20k in the US and they're about as popular as herpes sores. Consumers have voted with their wallets.

Well how long the battery last and how much it cost to replace

batteries have gotten way bettter and this is a new chemistry. i would be shocked if it didn't average 15 years. its a smaller car, so they were able to go with a different battery type. the battery is a bit heavier but will last longer and is safer in regards to fire.

nothing new the Chinese SAIC cheap little golf cart is $5000. We don't count golf carts in the US as cars because they usually can't make real highway speeds - here in the USA people are typically driving over 75 mph; nor safety standards - these are not the sort of car you want to be in when that 18 wheeler is up your tail .. BYD says it can reach 81 mph; of course that is with a 100 lb chinese driver and wind assist.

So much has not yet been mentioned. Noise & vibration levels? Handling the many types of roads, road surfaces and weather conditions? Driver & passenger comfort, especially over long periods? Feedback & responsiveness to the driver?

I think this is an exciting idea I really like it it’ll be perfect in Metro cities especially for people that really only need to drive about 12 miles a day maybe sometimes 25 miles one way then 25 miles back 50 miles get it done go home charge it in your garage 250 mile range could last a month for some people
And being Chinese, it may last a year, if you're lucky. And, it will no doubt come with an app that collects ALL your personal data for the CCP

Tesla was and still is over rated EV, Tesla name is always, or most of the times, next to SpaceX name to justify its price. A city car must provide safety and economy, not speed.

All of this with a grain of salt. The range tests can’t be EPA numbers, so lower range than stated. No doubt the prices are converted from Chinese currency, so expect to spend more. These vehicles have to pass US crash tests to be sold in the US, so expect to spend more & the vehicles to be heavier. The batteries are about half the size they should be for the stated range. The cars would have to be unbelievably light weight. Faster charging is possible with a smaller battery. Be skeptical of most of this pie in the sky.
The car has already been ready for test driving, and many people have given it high reviews. But I don't expect byd's cars to be approved for sale in the US by the US government. The safety features of this car are better than many petrol cars in its price range. The mileage was probably 80 to 90 percent of what was given. Finally in China, more than 10,000 orders were placed for the car within 24 hours of its launch.
