She can't quite hit those four octave notes like she did way back in 1982 when she first recorded this and she does a little too much guttural growling to make up for the lost range but Mel is still a force to be reckoned with at age 64..and she still looks great.
I would respectfully disagree about those growls. I think they were natural. Firstly because she wasn't hitting high notes when she did most of that growling, which is the only way she would need range to hit those growled notes. also at 3:50 and the end of the song she didn't need to growl to hit those high notes. But i can agree that she is an amazing singer

Melba, never smoked crack.... she was a victim of emotional, physical, financial abuse at the hands of her former husband and business partner who robbed her for millions, which left her broke and destitute....and she never smoked anything ....she did drank pretty heavy at one tine.....but when you're Broadway Royalty and have a gold/platinum voice, the enemy cant keep you down!!! Glory.....she's still beloved, an iconic performer and living Legend.
