- So this is a little longer cause I kinda made two videos i to one. A geode crackin and acid bath to melt calcite out of some agates and geodes. Watch to the end for the uv. #teamrockit #thefinders #agates #rockhound #cool #crystal #rock #calcite #uv #geodes
Good stuff!!👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Mike. Appreciate it bud.
That acid bath thing always scared me. It was interesting to watch. Oh those are so beautiful ! The UV show is amazing😊
I splashed myself several times but didn’t get any chemical burns. I tried to wash it off quick though. Lol. I did not do things in the safe way. But that was very diluted to begin with. Plenty people told me to just use straight acid but others had said to mix it with water so I did. It’s really not bad.
@@JnVrockhounding well that is good to know. I may try it now :)
I usually always opt for iron out, but in this particular case, it’s super pretty as is. Also i love the little black geodes. Really fun video, thanks for pointing me to it 🩷
Thanks for watching! Yeah those black ones are bear canyon geodes. I was hoping for agates but only got geodes. Some of them were pretty though.
Crac-A-Lackasss.
Lol
Today’s video was all ok. Thanks!
Thanks Vicky. Appreciate that. It was a long one. The end is the best part. Lol
Nice!!!! You need a pipe cutter/ geode cracker!!!!
Yes I do!
Cmon, hit it like ya goat a pair!!!!
Lol
Wow those cleaned up so nice, you got some beauties
For sure! I love the bots!
First lay and then watch the video, it will be great too!!
Greetings from Greece!!
Thanks bud. Hope the live wasn’t too painful to watch. Lol. Need a better blade.
Cool...hope to find some geodes soon
Indiana has great geodes.
All the calcite on the botryoidal top of the agates has been removed. Very impressive. The bubbles in the bucket showed how the calcite dissolved. It's a beautiful video. The agates are really beautiful. Especially the big one. 🧡
Thank you. Sometimes I like the calcite in geodes and agates but with botryoidal chalcedony pockets like Kentucky agates have I don’t want the calcite there. It hides the beauty of the bots.

@@JnVrockhounding I agree with you. They're really beautiful after your treatment. In botryoidals, the calcite cover covers all the beauty.
Great video, not weird.
Love your content Jeff, keep up the great work. ❤
Thanks Paul. Right back at you.
Very nice!! Make sure you don’t use those tongs on your burgers now 😂. Glad the Beast went to a good home and is getting good use!
Thanks so much Brian! It’s gonna get a lot of use for sure! I need to get another battery to make it the bigger version.
@@JnVrockhounding yeah that is cool they offer the extension for another battery. Keep an eye on their website. They are coming out with new lights soon. 👍🏼
Nice hope they all clean up good
Gonna do a premiere probably Wednesday night showing them.
I would not iron out the one you asked about. I was a really nice, uniform orange color. You'll have plenty of others to make whiter with the iron out. Definitely a little different look to the rocks you are breaking open from the geodes I'm cutting open. I got them on a Marketplace ad, but they person's collection had already been picked through over the winter, so not many hollow geodes were left. Still, some nice colors in the ones I've cut open. I may have to try breaking a couple bigger ones open.
The ones I've tried the acid on turned out to not be calcite or other calcium based mineral, so didn't dissolve out much. I need to do better at my mineral identification.
I definitely need to learn a lot with identifying too. Thanks for the advice or suggestions on that one. I kinda like the amber/citrine look to some of them.
⛏🤝🤝🤝THE BEAUTIES👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks
I would start the split with an emery board round with your right angle cutter brother
Don’t have an angle cutter or emory board
Hey Hello , JnV- V at Wall The Mart???
Lol not quite.
You need sum crocs!!!!
He should doezzz!!!!!
I got some. Never wear them. Lol
Iron iut
For what?
Where are you located? Very cool! Thank you!
(Be careful to not breath in that silicate-it’s really bad for your lungs. 🫁)
I vote you clean that geode but don’t use iron out!! Keep the orange, I love that color. Almost carnelian.
Yeah those ones that are very orange/citrine colored I like too. I won’t clean them with iron out. We are in south central Kentucky. Thanks so much for the comments and for watching.
@@JnVrockhounding I KNEW those looked like Kentucky geodes! I go to Lincoln county all the time to find amazing things!
@@mria621 haven’t been to Lincoln yet.
