Ridiculous that Page isn't at these shows. How great would it have been to see him stroll out on stage with that telecaster Jeff gave him all those years ago and played the Yardbirds stuff and even some of the Jeff Beck group stuff with Stewart, what a shame.
I about have to assume Jimmy isn’t well enough to play, or just didn’t want to. It sure would’ve been great if he were there. Jimmy and Jeff were friends since the age of 13. Just don’t make sense…Hope he’s ok.
I think jimmy’s not up for playing anymore unfortunately. Idk if it’s arthritis as some have suggested or something else. Last time i saw Jimmy play anything was at a video played at the Play It Loud exhibit at the Met in NYC. His playing was a little bit slower and not what we saw even at the O2.

I’ve seen a lot of people asking why jimmy page isn’t here. No one really knows why but if he missed the tribute show to his childhood friend then I’m guessing it must be something serious. For what it’s worth, This is one song that Page should’ve played with the telecaster beck gave him, guess it wasn’t meant to be.
What the fuck was it? How can he be so shit after all this time? He had lessons with Satriani as a kid. It defies logic. He must be the nicest person who has ever lived. Why else would they keep him?
what I see unfortunately is that all the angularity, corners, drama and attitude of 90% of the music presented at this tribute has been sanded off into lazy, jam grooves. Why I LOVE JEFF SO MUCH is that even though he was 78, those qualities are what defined him and he never lost them or settled "gracefully" into "old age" He never phoned it in. Every show was like it was his first show, filled with fire, danger and true in the moment inspiration, desperation, destruction etc.... FOREVER YOUNG.....:D

dreamer deceiver, you are right. I have heard that happen before, but the player usually corrects them self after a bar or so. Kirk stayed committed to this choice. Maybe his amp was so loud that he couldn’t hear everyone else? Strange. TBH, everything that I heard from this concert, though heartfelt, was pretty sloppy. Apparently, he and Jeff were really good friends. I heard Steve Lukather in an interview say that Depp admitted that he was under qualified, but that Beck wanted him to perform with him.
Incredibly nasty. Jeff and Johnny were best friends and🎉 loved each other like brothers and became like brothers. Johnny lived with Jeff and his wife during the gruelling trial for months. He toured with Jeff for the whole year last year. When Jeff died, he was utterly devastated. Sandra, Jeff’s wife only wanted Johnny and Jeff’s dog at the burial. Johnny makes sure that Sandra, Jeff’s wife is always okay emotionally and gives her lots of support. Johnny still tears up when playing and singing he and Jeff sang together. So take your nasty, snotty, childish comments elsewhere. This is a tribute to the great Jeff Beck, the two brothers. Anyone could have got up and given their own tribute. Where did you learn to be so disgusting and nasty.!!
R.I.P. Jeff Beck. A warm tribute put together with great musicians and an actor playing a musician... OK, Kirk Hammet messed up his solo, but I've seen that happen to other great guitarists on several occasions. Shit happens sometimes... Now this certainly will piss some people off, but I need to get this off my chest: Watching Johnny on stage confuses me all the time. Am I looking at Jack Sparrow who just discovered an electric guitar, or is he impersonating Keith Richard on a bad hair day? That telecaster must weigh a ton or more, because Johnny seems to be falling over all the time. His strumming is rather unique, hitting the strings with his thumb, (I think I saw he had his thumb taped, might have been a thumbpick?), fingers stretched in a strange way, a lot of upstrokes. Looks a bit weird imo. What strikes me in all the videos is that you can't hear shit what he is actually playing. Either they turned his amp way down low, or they turned down his signal on the mixing desk. There's aIso very little interaction with the other musicians. I strongly believe that he was a good friend of Jeff, but that doesn't make him a good musician. For me, Johnny Depp had no business on that stage, maybe except for announcing some songs... He's a great actor though, so stick to acting please (without a guitar).
Yeah , I saw Beck a couple of weeks before he passed and the moment Johnny Depp came out the energy was lost.
