Waste Management shuttle Amreps

- Waste Management runs different more unique trucks in Silverado/Modjeska Canyon, here you will see what are called "shuttle Amreps" collecting trash and a Mack MR wittke Emptying the bodys!
It’s about time I posted this video. I thought for sure I would have posted it by now since these trucks run only 10 minutes away from me. These trucks are one of a kind (well 3 of a kind technical) they are basically amrep pods haha.
Since Silverado and Modjeska Canyon have a lot of streets that are crazy tight and are not accessible for full-size truck by any means, waste Management have special equipment do the tight spaces/streets. Having normal mini Amreps would be very efficient because the nearest landfills is about 30 minutes to an hour depending on what area/canyon they are in, that’s why the shuttle Amreps are perfect after they fill up they both go to an assigned area and wait for the wittke Front Loader to empty the shuttles! If the front loader is far away they have time to take there lunch break haha.
Here are how the routes work in Silverado/Modjeska Canyon, the main road is collected by full size Amreps, the tight areas however the shuttles service for trash, however the residents have a choice for recycling if they bring there cart to the main road where the full size trucks collect it gets recycled otherwise it goes in with the trash and green waste.
Hope you enjoyed watching the video! Huge thanks to all the drivers in this videos for being so chill and letting us film! Also huge thanks to Aaron and Moises for letting me join on this awesome trip!

What an exotic garbage truck.
The first clip is probably the cutest little amrep I've seen LOL it's so tiny
Lol yes
It’s an average size amrep
@@minibinwaredisposaldude5641 i get it
The babiest of baby Amreps
Off-roading garbage truck. Rough ride. Gnarly
these trucks are so awsome
Wow Tbh Awesome Job, And Off The Chain, This Is The First Time I've Ever Seen Something So Very Amazing Like This Nice Job Filming Keep Up The Great Work Much Love and Respect.
This system would work really well for a large park because the park could own and operate some of these little pod trucks and leave the pods for a municipal garbage contractor to pick up when they are full.
I don't know who work the sanitation department my hands goes out to y'all great job..wow
I think I could now call them as “Baby Amreps” I mean look at them! They could like so small and just dump one full van and boom full!
WoW!
This is a new one for WM!
They always coming up with new ideas for trash systems!👍👍
This has to be the worlds smallest garbage truck
Nice gob man almost at 2k
this is very cool way better than if they would of gone with normal under CDL trucks that could dump into rear loaders.
DB Trash Trucks Snow Shoveling thanks
Great Job
Aw its so cute a little boy
WM truck picking up dumpster: hey how ya doing brother?
WM truck driving: good but.. I've gotta pick up trash.
WM truck picking up dumpster: same but. ok
Ok. Mind blown. I've seen these small trucks but never seen one dump a load and had nooo idea the body separated like that. And where do I get the frontloader job just waiting for these guys to bring a load. Lol. Great video.
2:00: Two things: 1, it is very rare that there are turn signals, instead of parapedos, on the front of a truck. In a car I do see it normal, but in a truck... And 2: How come there is a vertical container? Normally, fixed containers are horizontal. But seeing one vertically... Weird, no, the following.
Woah sick truck, haven’t seen one on these before. But I would work for WM just to drive one of these little beasts!
If the roads are too small for large trash truck to get thru they do this in your area
So cool! Never knew these things existed! Awesome video!
They are new.
Waste Management has some of the handiest and cutest little trucks! Reminds me of he Heil Pods!
Wow that is so cool!!
Patrick McCauley thanks

Same with the other two of the best players in

Best video I ever seen in my life
Looks like the big garbage truck dont wanna start lol
Some of those trucks are so tiny!!!
Very nice bro!
East Coast Refuse Trucks thanks
You’re welcome
Ugh
That's kool
wow, those shuttles are tiny!
The wear and tear in those front loaders forks and arms must be immense. I’d like to know how much weight is packed into one pod.
Qukslvr 1-2 tons I believe
The most it could be is 4 tons, the front loader has a limit
Front ends have 8lb limit or 4 tons
TexasGarbageTrucks 8 pounds?
@@publicservicesinhawaii429 I mean 8000lb
Same concept as the old Wimi trucks but these are automated.
I want one so bad
never seen anything like this
bring back heil pods if your gonna have these
So basically these are heil pods but side loaders
Oibing Lau exactly what i was thinking

Awesome Video Lucas! Wow these shuttle amreps are just awesome! Really like the system they have going for this route with the Wittke picking up the bodies, wonder how many bodies it has to pick up a day between the 2 shuttle amreps? Really enjoyed both trucks, the Frieghtliner was neat bit older and not as modernized as the Autocar, the Autocar looks like a remolded version of the Freightliner like they changed some things and got an Autocar cab. That Wittke was really cool sounded nice and that exhaust pipe going up along the side looked really cool! Those Ottos do not work for the shuttle amreps smaller grabbers, they seem to slip around alot when getting picked up. Overal great video Lucas hope you can get more footage of these trucks. Amazing Video!
Waste Man 226 thanks glad you enjoyed it haha! The wittke does two loads and each load can fit around 8-10 shuttle bodys depending on how full they are.
So put a tag trailer on the back. Have multiple cans.
1 truck instead of 3 when the trailer is full go to the transfer station.
I think they're built for going into tight areas quickly and easily. So a trailer would defeat the purpose
The trailer idea is good in theory just hard to utilise
Where do you leave it? How do you make enough room to load / unload it
Be cool if they worked it out though
So he follow those small trucks
Anjuar Underwood yep
The Mack actually does bulk in Irvine currently
WM OF IRVINE CA on most days yes, not on Thursdays tho
Ya I understand since on Thursday in Irvine a autocar does bulk
The only problem I see is having to empty with a front loader
Not really a problem tho, the trucks are probably stationed near by for these routes, meaning that only one truck really is making a long distance drive. Especially in mountainous terrain you cant easily put a transfer station there and they unload so frequently having them drive 30 minuets every few streets is wasteful on fuel and time.
@@sterlingodeaghaidh5086 that is a good point but if there aren’t any around then you have a full truck that can only set the bin down
Why are all those garbage trucks so violent when they pick those trash cans up and dump them and put them back on the ground? it’s not very smooth.
What stops the trash falling out of the pods when they offload from the shuttles ??
Nothing really it just stays in there because it's compacted you can see at 8:27 he was throwing trash back into the hopper because it fell out.
Interesting. How many carts can fit in a pod?
Don K 20. Ha ha.
Around 40 - 70 depends on what’s in the carts though
Holy cow. That’s not much better than 20. Almost not even worth the effort to design and build them. Especially when it takes two trucks on the route daily. One front loader and then the automated.
@@trashmasterlucas. : and how many Pods in the Mack?
I am only watching this for Lego Technic
Hola
wish they used them trucks here
Do you know what’s the protocol if a can falls inside the truck?
It's gone lol
I saw that happening in my apartment complex , 2 hours later a town truck with a crane ,came and pull the small container out from the big trucks container. To bad for the driver it was on Christmas Day..!!
@@rolac6109 wow they actually had a truck come in and get the can out? The truck would be capable of crushing the can so easily and it wouldnt take up much space, I'd expect the driver would tell dispatch or the route managers, crush it move on and then the route manager would simply drop off a new can that day. They keep thousands of them at the shop and sell them regularly. I accidentally threw away a lid of someones can once and they replaced the whole can with a bigger heavier duty one
well in his case sounds like it might of been a dumpster a little hard to just pack and move on
I had a driver dump a 4 yard dumpster right in the hopper. Had to wait for a crane truck to fish it out. Had to climb on top of the truck to rig it up. That guy left the company.
I never seen such thing.
Hola amigos
Never understood why after grabbing the can u bring the all the way in to stick it all the way back out to drop the can.... maybe just me but that's too much time being wasted.. ibgrab my can leave arm where its at then drop it bacc n
Why can't they just use hopper trucks for this route? Less stop and go trips this way.
Probably because the waste station or land fill is decades away and so they need to use the pod system in what ever rural area they are in and with that a front end loader truck to sit and wait for them to collect all the trash in that area and dump the trash they have collecting and then go and head to the waste transfer station or land fill its probably faster for them to do it that way
In my experience, a shuttle is a smaller Vehichle that can get somewhere a larger Vehichle can’t.
So I’m guessing these small guys go where the normal ASL trucks can’t go. So they shuttle to and from the large truck.
PAULYOU
I do roll off for this company
Alex L thats cool
How do I get hired, do I need one year cdl driving experience? Current I drive a concrete mixer for two months
@justinalex
They usually ask for 1 year experience in trash. I work in Southern Arizona.
@@alexl8777 thanks, do you think waste management is a good company to drive for?
What type of license would I need to operate a trash truck ??
Daniel Jimenez I believe a class B
Cdl
Class B Or Class A License
Instead of taken your dam pay off any construction with out a dumpster needed there company take from them it's elligal to burn building materials and thrash I'm dealing with a problem right now
Lmao is so funny
Very handy using smaller trucks on smaller roads and places that are hard to get to. I assume that most drivers are Mexicans, so we really need a wall to do this good work our selfs.
That part about the drivers being Mexicans is asinine and not relevant to the topic. These men and women and contributing their time and energy to the work force. So don’t demean them.
@@garbagetrucksofthenapavalley My purpose was chertainly not to demean the workers. More to demean that wall and the fact that so many people don't see the good work done by people from Mexico or from other countries. You are right that this is not the place to make my statements.

Rubbish ,first the bin in front if the driver window no visibility, helth and safely. Kids run in front? Bang!!! Second side collection! Only on rural areas , the customer will never will but the bin on the same access point, will be a car or other things on the way, and third the driver doing three jobs so the boss cut cost ,more stress for the driver more profit for the boss . Rubbish. Avoid accidents get one more person to back you up .
They been doing this for over 10 years and you wait until now to say that it's not gonna work.
