- Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection launched recently, and what should have been some moment for the community quickly went wrong. Players who hopped onto for multiplayer realized that only three servers were available to accommodate nearly 10,000 players on Steam.
Several other issues were quickly discovered, from the lack of aim assist in multiplayer to split-screen only supporting two players instead of four. While developer Aspyr reportedly added more servers, players complained of high ping, lag, stuttering and more. That's not including crashes, graphical glitches and other issues players have discovered in short order.
Suffice it to say that the Steam rating took a beating, plummeting to "Mostly Negative" reviews. What caused all this? aspyr isnt a real dev team. the only thing they have ever done is port existing games.
they started off making ports for mobile devices

Because majority of people who like this game don't need multiplayer to re jump into this game. I got it on ps5 and I don't care for the multiplayer as I got it to just fire it up maybe do splitscreen and play this classic on a console again. But I agree that aspyr did a very shit job reguardless. But if the online never fixed for this I won't shed tears. I thinks it's more weird that cutsceens are missing from the 501st mission which is kinda cringe
Worst part is that theses review channels didnt even play enough to notice the huge amount of bugs and the the fact that 50% of the Story Cinematics are missing from the game. This channel like many others are now trying to justify their actions, the game has a lot of problems outside multiplayer.
@@cosmicxsolitude6947exacty I never experienced or cared about online on this game the only multiplayer I liked on this was splitsceen I look forward to mainly conquest modes and heros sometimes but this game definitely needs to get fixed because I know campaign mode is broken and the sounds and pings sometimes doesn't play or is really quiet~~~~UPDATE~ TRIED pkaying with my two other buddys but literally couldn't join each other and landed in random lobbys that either started or was done smh

You got some of your information wrong.
1: Ventress and Kit Fisto were taken from the Xbox version but were also had fine tuning and custom sabre effects by the modder
2: Battlefront III was never developed by Pandemic, it was developed by Free Radical and then turned into a PSP game by Rebellion, the game was called Star Wars: Battlefront Elite Squadron
Another case of selling something before “fully cooked”. They’ll get as much money upfront and then “work on it”. This is gaming these days.

I do agree with what you are saying but there have been a few gems last year. Aliens Dark Descent was glitch when it came out that turn out to be a really good game

Pre-ordering is fine as long as the game is properly reviewed. This is reviewer said he only played the single player even though the multiplayer is what people were looking forward too. It's not a complete & proper review
Well now i know to not trust your reviews so thanks for that. You don't even take any blame and just act like you were completely surprised yet pushed out a good review and keep pushing on about solo play, so i think im good on watching any more of your videos.
I've seen several doing a similar thing. They keep excusing their positive review with "I couldn't access multiplayer" or "it was an early review copy" and so on. Well they shouldn't be doing a review then, not for a game they can't fully test and isn't the one everyone else will be playing. Those positive early reviewers are just as guilty as the devs.
This reminds me of the "Remastered" GTA trilogy a broken mess

Some are saying here in the comments that it was a patch/hot fix that REMOVED it from the game upon release. This apparently had inversion capabilities in it before they took it out for some reason.

It makes me wonder how they screwed it up that bad. The source code for these games has been publicly available for well over 10 years now thanks to modders. All they had to do was take that and recompile it for modern consoles. Even graphical upgrades shouldn't have been that hard. Modders already did it to the old games without issue.
My online experience in 2 isnt that great, but the first one is fantastic.
Never knew this game was so great online, the slow paced action goes on endless straling meter for meter , the crouch .
The first is really great online.
It plays pretty lag free 2.
But its real great at this moment, can use a little patching here and there.but the experience is really booming how dope and good the first one plays online.

@@AtomicBlonde22 From what I heard the option was available in the pre release version then the day one patch took it out for whatever reason. I hope they can add it back soon.

I dont get why people are still pre ordering or buying games on day 1 especially ''remasters'' after the GTA release. Just wait and let the reviewers you trust (not IGN) give you the heads up on how releases are going and if the game is legit or a cash grab.

Got the game on switch specifically for the single player. Loved instant action. Multiplayer was the cherry on top for me. Or would have been, if the servers werent so laggy. Literally have to aim IN FRONT like 5 feet of the enemy at all times

The biggest problem for me is the lack of inverted view, it is for me literally unplayable that way

the funny thing is, the first version of the game that released had the inverted controllers option, it then got an update 30mins later which removed the option

20% positive comes from the crown jewel of the game which makes it 10 out of 10 for solo playing. The 80% negative comes from the online which was bound to have issues. For me, i'm glad i got to relive those teen years playing this game again. I never did play the first one, but either way, it's a solid 10/10 for me 🤩
The stats he quoted (20% positive) shows that most likely 20% didn’t play it online because there’s no way it would have any positive reviews if the 20% had played online. This is why polls/ ratings aren’t accurate. They need to split ratings into online and offline because you’re online experience can be quite different from offline. This game is a perfect example of that.
There were only 42 servers at launch in the first hour, there was an issue where it doesn't automatically refresh. I had to keep telling people to use the refresh button.
I'm having an issue with splitscreen on the Switch version: it just says "Please Insert Controller" for player 2, even when I have two controllers paired to the console. Does anyone know why this is? Do both players need to have a Nintendo Online account even for offlline splitscreen play? It's breaking my heart since the whole reason I bought this game was to introduce my friends to classic Battlefront.
You do not need a Nintendo switch online account to play split screen you only need the Nintendo switch online to play online
What is your definition of proformance? I have hit a ton of bugs and problems in single player on PS5 with Battlefront 1
Id recommend refunding it until it's fixed. Otherwise I suspect Asspyr will take the money and run

It's amazing how good this game still feels to play all these years later, I just hope the online portion is rectified quickly!

Good thing I fixed my “bricked” PSP and still have the battlefront 2 disk lying around in my closet.
Also the game closes out when I try to refresh the sever list for battlefront 2, is anyone else having this issue?
Not defending this release. So much non excusable issues for games 20 years old is absolutely ridiculous. Now I will say overall my experience has been positive. I mean back in the day I didn't have online so I always played single player so in all honesty I am having a blast. I bought this mainly for that. Playing online is great but single player is just fine for me. I feel like I'm back in 2004/2005.
20 years ago, my brother and I would play split-screen for hours on end. Last night, we tried playing multiplayer and we found it impossible to have a stable connection. We ended up playing Helldivers 2 instead.
To be fair, split-screen does still play fine. Ha

@@mr.miscellaneous Yes but that doesn't mean they have to review them just because the studio gives it to them early. There are other ways to show off that copy without reviewing it, while making it very clear that it's not the full game. I hope you'll agree that reviews should be for the game that is released to the public at launch, no other. 🙂

For the record, it’s mostly fine on Switch and I’ve been playing a ton, including online. The file size is outrageous though.
Its really really bad. Nearly unplayable and its the first game Star Wars game that I wanted a refund for. Huge problems but for me not having team balancing just resulted in 31 players playing empire or clones and 12 players playing rebels or droids. Matches are over before they begin. Full 32 player Empire squad? Tough, go join the 8 rebels fighting for the last CP. Then you get into the hit registration/ping issues... The fact that they had 3 servers to start meant that they didn't take this seriously at all.

This is sad, but since I have very few friends and was mostly going to play it solo I can just wait and see if they ever fix it or release it physical. Until then I can still play the originals on my Series X. 😁
It's so sad that nowadays you gotta wait for how a new release or rerelease comes out. Wait and see if there are weird bugs or quality issues. Despite really wanting to play it right away.

There are a lot of valid points here, and for PC players in particular I do hope they get addressed. As for solo play on Xbox, the game has never been so clean, so it’s a bit of a mixed bag at the moment. And in multiplayer I have experienced no lag or crashes, or issues of any kind other than Mace Windu seemingly being able to ghost his lightsaber through other characters for instant kills.
I was looking forward to this but when i saw that they had used ai to upscale the graphics i wasnt gonna buy it. Its a shame when you compare it to the dark forces remaster which seems like it had actual thought put into it.
thank god i was able to only obtain it for 27$ instead of the full 35 saved me alot and i feel like they really should of kept devolping it for atleast one more month before release

Giving this an 8 even if you are just reviewing the single player is still silly. Gonna have to change the policy for reviews from 20 minutes of gameplay before writing the review to like 30 minutes guys.
This is why I usually watch Before You Buy Videos, before I get any games, that look iffy, even sales

I think there is some praise to be given here. The developers have shown that the laziness of games companies can reach levels of depravity even I have not conceived.

Are you talking about the PC version on steam I have problems with that thing left and right it's having connection issues whenever I try to join servers hits are not registering you have to go after the same in me multiple times to get the hit the register

Someone needs to step up and make a decent game it doesn’t even need to be the same characters for copyright purposes, just good saber, blaster combat. And it is making money!!!
These ones are far better than the remakes of Battlefront 1 &2 that came out a few years.

The only issue I have as of right now is the ability to choose which side to fight on. Other than that, the game plays fine for me.

From this to Helldivers 2, if your game depends on servers, you WILL be shafted at launch.
I could care less for the multi-player issues, which I would never use anyway. It's well worth it just for the excellent levels against bots, like I did for many years on my original Xbox.
On Steam it makes sense since the originals are still on there and are much cheaper and have multitudes of mods.
I've already got the original on my Xbox series x for a deal about a year ago I believe it was like £5.99

By the time they fix multiplayer nobody is going to be playing it. I've refunded it without even installing (IT'S 60gb!!!!) and now I'm going to try the Battlefront 2 Remaster mod for the first time.
I certainly won’t invalidate the bad experiences people have been having, but I will add that plenty of us who got the game haven’t been seeing many problems. A little rough around the edges and some weird omissions (like the inverted control toggle). But I’ve been loving both games in single and multiplayer with hardly any issue, and some of those I remember being from the original release. A relatively lazy port, but not as unplayable as they’re being portrayed (I have Switch version btw, so that could make a difference).
Tbh, I saw people saying they were returning the game within 20-90 minutes of the midnight release on their platforms, and it only took until the morning of the release day for more servers to be up. So honestly while I recognize there have been legitimate negatives to the game and its release, if you’re thinking of getting the game you should know that it’s not all gloom and doom.
I swear to god im not hearing those objective completion sounds during the story, i mean luckily its just been a few audio and visual things for me, but i also havent taken a hand at multiplayer, so yeah a little disappointed.

Honestly just baffled at this point. The games released better & more polished 20 years ago. Modern gaming strikes again but this is just pathetic. I can forgive multiplayer sever issues but messing up core functionality of the game is unacceptable & really makes me question who is working over there. Did they even play the original games?
Hey guys just come and play in the og version of the game. We have a blast everyday and plus there is a lot of people now cause of the hype! Make sure to download some mods also it's easy and it's way better than what we are having here.

The game is perfect as is and it in no way should have any kind of co-op or multiplayer options.

Yeah in single player and split screen its just doesn't play right the aim assist and lock-on honestly dont work properly even if you turn them off they're constantly pulling your aim towards what the game thinks you should be aiming at. Also never got asaaj on the original Xbox version as I didnt have the internet back then but can we talk about that ventress has saber nunchuckes and saber throwing knives is that the way shes always been in bf2?
When i played the original with my little brother, I used to screencheat so much he threw my hermit crab against a brick wall out of anger and killed it.

What I'm surprised by is how these companies are still able to profit off of blatantly bad games, if it's not actual governments accusing developers of child gambling its ridiculous adventures like this, selling a 20 year old game and it somehow doesn't run properly. This has become a pattern, not the exception. I suspect part of the problem is that the "product" isn't the game itself but Star Wars. Read the reviews and SW Battlefront II (2017) was one of the worst games of all time, but then read the data and it sold 9 000 000 copies in its first year. They know they can keep selling crap and people will buy it. I haven't played videogames since I was a kid, the last game I purchased was most likely Battlefront II in 2005 for PS2 - just hopped in here out of curiosity, to see if it's worth it.

This is the reason I don't go back and play really old games. I would rather have a good memory of a game than go back and ruin that. Most of the time in my experience it is not good to go back. EA battlefront 2 is better than this. Nostalgia is a powerful thing.
