Deadass forgot about this comment but I’m actually focusing on being a information security analyst. And I’m almost nearing the end of my sophomore year. I love my major lol so I decided to stay In computer science. I’m actually picking up a summer internship in that deals with cyber security.
Thank you for this video! I love how you make this degree less intimidating and more approachable. I have ZERO programming experience, so I’m hoping my journey will be smooth!
@@edgaraortiz omg that’s so great to hear!! i’ve been very hesitant if i should commit to CS or not because i don’t have any programming experience, but your comment put me at ease. so thank you and i hope it goes well for you!!
I’ll be starting my bachelor’s in Computing Science this September and this video gave me lots of confidence and determination because I’m an amateur in coding and stuff but now I think I can do well if I try my best
Yeah I agree that computer science is mostly thinking differently. That was the hard for me. It’s learning a new language. I don’t think it’s a lot with math. I love w3 schools!
Hey Maya thanks so much for this video. I was struggling to bring myself to study for a discrete math class 😭 but you got me all fired up again! Please keep uploading about your experiences!
Hey girl! I am also majoring in computer science and also in my third year. I have tried to get an internship with Google for the longest time. Could you share with us how you got an internship with Google and what your resume looked like when you applied and maybe some tips aswell
Girl, I really love this video! I'm a Systems Development student and I was searching for vlogs of girls in computer science. Now I'm a new subscriber!
I am changing my AS and getting an associates in computer science , and looking trough you tube videos for more info on this, i bumped into your channel and let me tell you! you have really encouraged me to do it! I am honestly a little intimidated because i suck at math lol but i feel more confident now after watching this video!! I've always been really interested on making apps, websites etc.. I Hope to do good! Love your videos!!
I’m thinking about changing my career path and getting a 2nd bachelors in CS. This definitely motivated me. I’m still young I’m 24 and I applied to go to FVSU. Hopefully it works out. Thanks for this video 🙏🏾
You dont need to be excellent at math. But it's a very good tool to try to do as good as you can. Strictly because math makes programming so much easier due to how math is very logical, which h programming is also.
Hey, Maya! Fellow CodeHer and third year Triton here :) Love your videos, and this video idea is EVERYTHING! I used to think that being a Cog Sci major would hinder me from being a software engineer, but two years later, I was able to land an internship through the career fair. (I even made a video bout it lol) Computer science is definitely a different way of thinking, but I truly think that with the right mindset, ANYONE can be a programmer.
I’m only 15 and this video got me interested into computer science. My only fears are the math and learning the programming languages. Other than that, software developer is a really good career path and they make lots of money.
A friend of mine is interested in going into Computer science but wants to start off at a community college b4 transferring what are the prerequisites for this major?
The prereqs are dependent on the school, for the school I’m going to CS1 prereq is Trigonometry. Your best bet is to look on the school’s website or contacting the school.
can someone please explain to me how is it that some people start off programming at 7 years old. like howwww is this even possible? are they genius are am i just too dumb to learn. and also do you think someone who is older I am 29 can go back to school and get a degree in CS without really knowing much about computers?
I'm basically an Undeclared major entering UCSD this fall, I'm fluent in Python, HTML, and Java. I am planning on majoring in CS, however, will this be possible because I heard it's hard getting into UCSD comp sci program?
Thank you so much, you convinced me to take this career. However i’m not pretty sure which country i’m studying on, like i have been thinking of going to study CS in the Netherlands or Canada. What do you say? Love youuu
Hm, I might have to say that Computer Science has extensive math. intermediate calculus is the upper ceiling when it comes to Math. There's plenty of discrete math and logic involved too, in logic design classes and boolean algebra.
There is lot in computer science don’t think you can cover everything and be good at everything, computer science is super broad, u can just focus on one thing and be really good at that thing.
Can I become a software engineer from computer science. I'm about to apply to uni but I noticed that most university have computer science course but not software engineering. Do I have to specifically apply to software engineering or will computer science allow me to become a software engineer. Please help and thank you
I HAVE A NEW VIDEO OUT YALL!!! AN INTERNSHIP VIDEO ua-cam.com/video/66fGZzeAJNs/v-deo.html
I was actually going to change my major from computer science because i just don’t get math but you convinced me to keep pursuing it
Update?
50% of software engineers don’t have a degree in computer science

Hi, i was wondering if you ever did go into studying a cs degree? if yes, how did it go because i have 0 experience in programming as well lol
@@janamorsi4188 hi! Thx for responding! I actually just graduated with my associates degree and I am two months into my CS degree and I love it!!

Hashini Perera ho how are you now? I just spent two years at community college and I still feel like my knowledge of coding is tiny 😂
zoe mcguire it’s not all about coding
Yeah I agree that computer science is mostly thinking differently. That was the hard for me. It’s learning a new language. I don’t think it’s a lot with math. I love w3 schools!
I used w3schools all the time for some of my classes!

Make more videos. You do a fantastic job! Can you also go over how you got a job at Google as an intern?
I love love love this! The representation, and you were super informative

A friend of mine is interested in going into Computer science but wants to start off at a community college b4 transferring what are the prerequisites for this major?
At my school you need to have taken calculus 1. The math required in the major is Calc2, calc3, linear algebra, discrete mathematics.
The prereqs are dependent on the school, for the school I’m going to CS1 prereq is Trigonometry. Your best bet is to look on the school’s website or contacting the school.
What type of laptop did you use for your computer science class? What would you recommend?
tbh i just use a macbook pro and it works just fine , you just need a lot of storage space
