- Always Board Never Boring rolls up a poor, unfortunate hero for a one-shot adventure in Advanced Heroquest. He runs through how to randomly generate a character, allocate their starting gear, and fill in their character sheet. He then selects a couple of allies to help out our new friend before designing a few monster matrices inspired by the contents of his old copy of HeroQuest from MB Games.

Really looking forward to this adventure. Advanced Heroquest is another of those games that transports me back to a time when my life was simple :)

Nice! For some reason I am picturing "Sleepy" as a dwarf noble who bought off some companions to join him in an adventure when he couldn't find any friends to help him out.
All will be revealed when the adventure begins.

The playthroughs should start appearing on the channel relatively soon. That might help you decide if you really want to drop some money on it.
I always think that the undead would hate anything alive and so in a mixed dungeon like this a fun rule could be that there's a chance that a skeleton starts wailing on the nearest orc instead of going for the hero
In this particular case, I would imagine the sorcerer is holding everything in his thrall, so they are all pulling in the same direction. It's a fun idea though. The orcs would probably spend most of their time beating up the goblins, too. Animosity undid my greenskin army more often than my opponents did, back when I played Fantasy Battle!

We found a copy of advanced hero quest in a charity shop for £5. Didn't know anything about heroquest before but it is so refreshing playing the chaotic dungeon dive after playing so much RP heavy DnD. Looking forward to your play through :)

Those are some really nice dice! I feel like Sleepy should probably work out his epitaph asap, as it seems VERY unlikely he'll survive his first archeological exploration job.
They are one of the sets I reviewed from DnDWoW. They do nice work. We will just have to cross our fingers for Sleepy.
I just know when I come to generating Heroes for Adv HQ I’ll do what I do with FF gamebooks and up my stats if I get a low roll 😂
Can’t wait to watch the playthrough. I hope little ol’ Sleepy doesn’t hit the dirt too quickly though!
The other option is roll up all the dice, and then allocate them to the stats as you want. For example, there are three stats that are a D6 roll, so roll 3D6 and then allocate them however you want to those three stats. That way you can customise how you want your hero to play, but you still may have to cope with some stats that aren't as good as they could be.

Wow... working on HQ and finally got a printer and working on updating my game play and getting the ordering done for all the new and updated HQ and then you pull out the Advance HQ... LOL. Man now I want to dust off my box and start getting into that now again. 🛡⚔️🛡⚔️🛡⚔️.

I'm still in progress for that to have a complete set .
Getting all the miniatures will take years (and a lot of money) so I still have a lot to get. It's a very long-term project I'm not going to rush to complete.
No rope or door spikes. Maybe you should have opted for a plate dwarf over male?
I know the ropes and spikes combo is a classic - every pre-gen character loves them. I could only afford the spikes though, so we will just have to see how I get on without.

When you fill in your character each stat has two values - starting and current. When you roll up the character, all the results you roll go in the starting boxes. You then buy your armour and weapons, and then fill in the current stats values based on how your loadout has changed the stats. For example, your current toughness will be higher than your starting toughness if you equipped some armour, while your bow skill will be lower.
Désolé mais je n'ai pas bien compris les cases combat corps à corps est numérotée de 1 à 12 et en dessous les cases sont vierges et c'est marqué pour toucher, ma question était que doit je remplir ? Est-ce que je rempli la case quand j'utilise une armes exemple épée, daguet etc ?

I think you may be confusing Advanced Heroquest with HeroQuest. They are different games. Advanced Heroquest is an out of production game from Games Workshop. Although you could use all the components from HeroQuest in Advanced Heroquest the two games have completely different rules. I cover both games extensively on my channel.

HeroQuest doesn't have any rules for creating your own heroes, but since Avalon Hill took the reins they have created plenty of new characters. At the moment you can pick from:
Barbarian, Elf, Dwarf, Wizard (core game),
Rogue Heir of Elethorn, Wandering Monk (solo hero packs),
Druid (Against the Ogre Horde),
Bard (Spirit Queen's Torment),
Warlock (Prophecy of Telor),
and Knight (Rise of the Dread Moon).
If you don't want to buy anything, the rules for all of these characters have been discussed online (in forums, here on my channel, and elsewhere) so they are easy enough to find. You won't have the official miniatures or cards, but you can find a good proxy model and make a note of any special rules on a piece of paper, and your friend will be ready to join the action.
That is one useless Dwarf... He needs to go home before he hurts himself 🤣 Mind you, everyone loves an underdog!

You need to reroll your intro with D12s rather than D6s….. 😂
